ELUTING PERFUSION CATHETERS AND RELATED METHODS

This patent document discloses perfusion catheters and related methods for treating blood vessel lesions and abnormalities. A perfusion catheter can include an inflatable balloon, an elongate shaft operably attached to the balloon, and an optional containment structure surrounding at least a portion of the balloon. The balloon can be inflated until its outer surface contacts a wall of a blood vessel. When inflated, the balloon's inner surface defines a passage for blood to flow. The balloon can be configured to release one or more substances formulated to treat a tissue at or near the wall of a blood vessel. In an example, the balloon can include a bioactive layer, which comprises the one or more substances, overlaying an optional base layer. In an example, the balloon can include multiple filars, at least one of which is configured to elute the one or more substances through a perforation or hole in the filar.

Balloon catheter inflation apparatus and methods

An inflation device includes a syringe body containing a bore. The bore holds a fluid that is used to inflate a separate device such as a dilation balloon. A plunger assembly slides within the syringe bore and contains a sealing member that forms a fluid tight seal with the syringe body. A shut-off valve is disposed within the distal end of the syringe body. The distal end of the syringe body has a fluid bypass channel fluidically coupled to the aperture of a connector. The shut-off valve has a spring-biased moveable piston with a bypass lumen contained therein, wherein the bypass lumen forms a fluid path between the bore and the fluid bypass channel when the pressure of the fluid is below a threshold value. The fluid path between the bore and the fluid bypass channel is interrupted when the pressure of the fluid is above the threshold value.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR TREATING EDEMA

The disclosure relates to devices and methods for the treatment of edema that uses an impeller with a balloon that may be mounted on the impeller housing. The invention provides devices and methods for treatment of edema that use an indwelling catheter with an impeller to lower pressure at an outlet of a lymphatic duct and a balloon on the impeller to guide and to restrict blood flow. The balloon restricts return flow from the jugular and guides that flow into the impeller cage. By funneling the flow into the impeller cage, a rate of flow down the vessel may be increased, resulting in a lateral pressure decrease effecting the lymphatic outlet. Because the lymphatic outlet is subject to a pressure decrease, fluids in the lymphatic system drain to the outlet and into the circulatory system.

The present disclosure provides an apparatus including: (a) a frame having a first end and a second end, wherein the frame includes a plurality of struts arranged between the first end and the second end of the frame, (b) a plurality of channels disposed within the plurality of struts of the frame, (c) an infusion balloon coupled to the frame and arranged such that, in an expanded condition, the frame provides a plurality of openings that the infusion balloon is configured to expand through and extend radially outward from the frame, thereby defining a plurality of grooves, (d) a plurality of holes defined in the frame and configured to permit fluid communication between the plurality of channels and the plurality of grooves, and (e) an infusion hub arranged at the first end or the second end of the frame including a reservoir in fluid communication with the plurality of channels.

Devices and method for blood vessel occlusion

An occlusion assembly and its uses in a REBOA procedure is disclosed. The occlusion assembly includes a single elongate shaft having an inflatable balloon, a proximal neck portion, a distal neck portion. The shaft defines a single lumen through which a wire is positioned for support of the shaft and through which an inflation fluid is also passed to inflate the balloon.

Balloon catheter assisted by pulling a puller-wire

A medical instrument includes a shaft, a distal-end assembly and a puller-wire. The shaft is configured for insertion into a body of a patient. The distal-end assembly, which is coupled to the shaft, includes a telescopic assembly, configured to elongate so as to collapse the distal-end assembly, and to compress so as to expand the distal-end assembly. The distal-end assembly further includes an elastic element, coupled to self-elongate and thus elongate the telescopic assembly. The distal-end assembly also includes an inflatable balloon, which is coupled to the telescopic assembly and is configured to collapse by the telescopic assembly elongating, and to expand by the telescopic assembly compressing. The puller-wire runs through the shaft and is connected to a distal end of the telescopic assembly, and is configured, when pulled, to compress the telescopic assembly.
