Surge immune stage system for wellbore tubular cementation
A method for cementing a tubular string into a wellbore includes: running the tubular string into the wellbore using a workstring having a deployment assembly; delivering an opener activator through the workstring to the deployment assembly, thereby launching an opener plug from the deployment assembly; pumping the opener activator and plug to a stage valve of the tubular string, thereby opening the stage valve; pumping cement slurry into the workstring; pumping a closer activator through the workstring behind the cement slurry, thereby launching a closer plug from the deployment assembly; and pumping the closer activator and plug to the open stage valve, thereby driving the cement slurry into an annulus between the tubular string and the wellbore and closing the stage valve.
Stage cementing collar with cup tool
A technique facilitates simplified cementing operations in a borehole with fewer trips downhole. The technique utilizes a cementing system having a stage cementing collar in combination with a cup tool. According to an embodiment, the stage cementing collar may comprise a collar body, a no-go connected to the collar body, and a port closure sleeve which serves as a valve positioned to close/open flow ports extending laterally through the collar body. The cup tool may be conveyed downhole on, for example, jointed pipe or coiled tubing, for engagement with the port closure sleeve. The cup tool is used to shift the port closure sleeve between operational positions, e.g. from a port open to a port closed position.
TELEMETRY OPERATED TOOLS FOR CEMENTING A LINER STRING
A liner deployment assembly (LDA) for use in a wellbore includes: a crossover tool. The crossover tool includes: a seal for engaging a tubular string cemented into the wellbore; a tubular housing carrying the seal and having bypass ports straddling the seal; a mandrel having a bore therethrough and a port in fluid communication with the mandrel bore, the mandrel movable relative to the housing between a bore position where the mandrel port is isolated from the bypass ports and a bypass position where the mandrel port is aligned with one of the bypass ports; a bypass chamber formed between the housing and the mandrel and extending above and below the seal; and a control module. The control module includes: an electronics package; and an actuator in communication with the electronics package and operable to move the mandrel between the positions.
Hydraulically Opened and Ball on Seat Closed Sliding Sleeve Assembly
Ported sub openings are controlled by a sliding sleeve assembly. In one variation an external sleeve is pressure actuated with internal pressure to open the ports. After the treatment the ports are closed with a ball landed on an internal sleeve seat and pressure applied from above. In a different arrangement a single internal sleeve is provided that is responsive to tubing pressure to open after breaking a retaining member. After the downhole procedure a ball is landed on a seat on the sleeve and pressure is applied to close the ports with the shifted sleeve and ball moving in tandem. Multiple sliding sleeves can be sequentially operated with sliding sleeves held by retainers that break at sequentially higher pressure moving in an uphole direction.
Device for cementing a pipe into a borehole well and corresponding cementation method
A device is provided for cementing a casing in a well bore. The device includes, on the well head side, a shutter disposed within the casing that controls opening and closing of at least one cementing aperture. The at least one cementing aperture makes an interior of the casing communicate with an annular space situated between an external face of the casing and an internal wall of the well. The device also includes, on the well bottom side, a packer having two expandable liners mounted along the external face of the casing and at least one communication passage between an exterior of the first external liner and the annular volume. The at least one communication passage is situated on the packer side orientated towards the well bottom.
Cementing Stage Collar with Dissolvable elements
A cementing stage collar and a method. The cementing stage collar may include dissolvable parts.
Electronically-actuated cementing port collar
A cementing port collar has an opening sleeve biased from a closed position to an opened position relative to the collar's exit port, and a first restraint temporarily holds the opening sleeve closed. The collar also has a closing sleeve biased from an opened position to a closed position, and a second restraint temporarily holds the closing sleeve opened. During cementing, the first restraint is electronically activated with a first trigger to release the opening sleeve opened so cement slurry can pass out of the collar's exit port to the borehole annulus. When cementing is completed, the second restraint is electronically activated with a second trigger to release the closing sleeve closed to close off the collar to the borehole so the cement can set. The restraints can include bands of synthetic fiber, which are burned by fuses activated by a controller of the collar responding to passage of RFID tags.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND DEVICES FOR SEALING STAGE TOOL LEAKS
Methods, systems, and devices for sealing stage tool leaks are disclosed. In one aspect a stage tool for wellbore cementing comprises an external stage tool body and a sliding sleeve within the external stage tool body configured to regulate cement flow through the stage tool. At least a portion of the sliding sleeve comprises a meltable alloy configured to seal a leak. The meltable alloy is configured to be melted by a heating source, flow into the leak, and resolidify as the melted alloy cools, thereby sealing the leak.
Integral swivel for multiple stage cementing tools apparatus and method of use
A tool and method for selectively allowing a transmission of torque to a casing string at a position below installation of the tool along the casing string. The tool includes an upper body to engage with an upper portion of a casing string, a lower body to engage with a lower portion of a casing string, and a swivel assembly connecting the upper body to the lower body, the swivel assembly is to operate in multiple configurations such that the upper body and the lower body are selectively locked together to allow or prevent torque transmission through the tool from the upper portion of the casing string to the lower portion of the casing string.
STAGE CEMENTING TOOL AND METHOD
A stage cementing tool for wellbore cementing, the stage cementing tool including a side pocket conduit and opening and closing pistons in the conduit. An actuator extends from the closing piston to an inner diameter of the stage cementing tool through a passage in the tool wall. The actuator has a contact surface actuatable from within the inner diameter to cause the closing piston to move into the closing position.
