Stage cementing tool and method
A well tool for use in completing a wellbore includes a tubular housing having a central bore and a housing port through a wall of the tubular housing, an inner mandrel disposed within the tubular housing and selectively movable between a first, closed position and a second, open position in response to a fluid pressure in the central bore, a sealing element circumscribing a portion of the tubular housing, and a setting sleeve. The inner mandrel is configured to open the housing port when the inner mandrel is in the second, open position. The setting sleeve is movable between a first, retracted position and a second, expanded position, where the setting sleeve is configured to activate the sealing element in the second, expanded position in response to movement of the inner mandrel to the second, open position.
UNIDIRECTIONAL CEMENTING BASKETS FOR CEMENT TOP JOBS
A downhole tool includes a support ring having an annular-shaped body, a thickness measured between an uphole side of the body and an opposite downhole side of the body, an extension distance measured between an inner diameter of the body and an outer diameter of the body, and one or more openings formed through the thickness of the body. A one-way valve is disposed in each opening formed through the support ring to limit flow through the support ring in a direction from the downhole side of the body to the uphole side of the body.
SYSTEM FOR SUCCESSIVELY UNCOVERING PORTS ALONG A WELLBORE TO PERMIT INJECTION OF A FLUID ALONG SAID WELLBORE
A system for successively uncovering a plurality of contiguous ports in a tubing liner within a wellbore, or for successively uncovering individual groups of ports arranged at different but adjacent locations along the liner, to allow successive fracking of the wellbore at such locations. Sliding sleeves in the tubing liner are provided, having a circumferential groove therein, which are successively moved from a closed position covering a respective port to an open position uncovering such port by an actuation member placed in the bore of the tubing liner. Each actuation member comprises a dissolvable plug which in one embodiment is retained by shear pins at an uphole end of a collet sleeve, the latter having radially-outwardly biased protuberances (fingers) which matingly engage sliding sleeves having cylindrical grooves therein, based on the width of the protuberance. In one embodiment, when actuating the most downhole sleeve, the shear pin shears allowing the plug to move in the collet sleeve and prevent the protuberance (fingers) from disengaging.
STAGE CEMENTING TOOL
A system for cementing a tubular in a wellbore that includes a sleeve made up of an annular housing with a cement seal on outer surface of the housing. The sleeve further includes a sliding block, a stationary block, an arm attached to the sliding block, and a passage formed through a sidewall of the housing, and that receives a free end of the arm. When the sleeve inner bore is pressurized, the arm moves to move the sliding block into an open space in the stationary block. Inserting the sliding block into the open space forms a seal on the outer periphery of the sleeve which forms a barrier to cement flowing in an annulus between the sleeve and inner surface of the wellbore. Lost circulation material can be deposited in the annulus and which settles along an interface between the seal and wellbore wall.
Stage tool with lower tubing isolation
A stage tool includes an isolation mechanism for isolating the lower bore of a completion string. The isolation mechanism is initially in a deactivated configuration until sufficient hydraulic pressure is applied, at which time, the isolating mechanism is activated to isolate the lower bore from cement ingress. Concurrently or subsequently, a stage tool may be opened to facilitate cementing of an annulus between the completion string and the wellbore. After cementing, the isolation mechanism, or portions thereof, may be drilled out to re-establish flow through the stage tool.
Stage tool apparatus and components for same
A stage tool apparatus and components for same are described. In several exemplary embodiments, the stage tool apparatus is part of tubular string or casing positioned within a preexisting structure such as, for example, a wellbore.
Stage tool for wellbore cementing
A stage tool and a method for stage cementing a wellbore annulus. The method includes: running into a wellbore toward bottom hole with a tubing string to a position in the wellbore; setting the tubing string in the wellbore to create the wellbore annulus between the tubing string and a wall of the wellbore; opening a cementing port through a side pocket structure positioned alongside the tubing string; pumping cement through the cementing port; and closing the cementing port to hold the cement in the annulus.
Zone select stage tool system
A stage tool operable with a plug is used for cementing a tubing string in a wellbore annulus. The tool can have a housing with a closure sleeve movably disposed in the internal bore of the housing. When pressure is applied downhole to the tool, a breachable obstruction on an exit port of the tool's bore opens and allows fluid such as cement slurry to communicate to the wellbore annulus. When cementing through the open tool is finished, a plug can be deployed downhole lands on a seat in the closure sleeve, and applied fluid pressure in the tool's bore against the seated plug closes the closure sleeve relative to the housing's exit port. Rotational catches between the housing's bore and the closure sleeve prevent the closure sleeve from rotating. A hydraulic mechanism on the tool can facilitate movement of the closure sleeve in response to a fluid pressure component.
