CONTINUOUS CARBON FIBER SUCKER ROD AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
20170241211 · 2017-08-24 ·

A continuous length composite sucker rod assembly is provided for use in down-hole wells. The assembly can include a plurality of parallel composite strands forming an elongate rod. The strands can be encapsulated with a thermoplastic polymer by co-extrusion. A terminus can be affixed to both ends of the length of sucker rod by splaying the strands out into a conical cavity within the terminus and casting a polymer wedge plug. The resulting sucker rod assembly can be readily coiled in a transportable diameter by virtue of the composite strands being able to twist when the rod is coiled and untwist when the rod is un-coiled.

Systems and methods for providing a polished rod alignment tool
11242718 · 2022-02-08 ·

A tool that is configured to align a polished rod within a carrier bar of a pumpjack is described. While this tool can include any suitable component, in some cases, it includes a cylindrical member having an internal conduit, such that the cylindrical member is configured to wrap around and receive the polished rod. In some cases, the cylindrical member has a top having a first outer diameter, and a bottom having a second, larger outer diameter. In some cases, a flange extends horizontally from the bottom of the cylindrical member, so as to be disposed at a bottom portion of the carrier bar when the cylindrical member is inserted into the carrier bar. In some cases, the cylindrical member comprises a slit that extends from the top to the bottom of the cylindrical member to allow the member to be opened and to receive the polished rod. Additional implementations are described.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING FLOATING ROD EFFECT IN A SUCKER ROD PUMP

A system and method for pumping formation fluids from a well using a sucker rod pumping system that prevents the pumping system from experiencing a floating rod condition. The sucker rod pumping system comprises a pump drive system, a rod string, and a downhole reciprocating pump driven by the rod string. The pump drive system is coupled to the rod string by a bridle. In addition, the sucker rod pumping system comprises a drive control system that controls the speed of the pump drive system during the downstroke. The drive control system is coupled to a load cell configured to provide a signal representative of load on the rod string. The drive control system controls the speed of the pump drive system during the downstroke based on the load on the rod string so that the rod string does not experience a floating rod condition.

Adaptor apparatuses and methods for artificial lift systems

The disclosure provides an adaptor apparatus for a downhole artificial lift system. The apparatus includes an upper adaptor section and a base adaptor section. The upper adaptor section includes a top connector portion for connecting to first equipment, and a neck portion below the top connector portion. The base adaptor section includes a bottom connector portion for connecting to second equipment. The base adaptor section and the neck section define a longitudinal fluid passage therethrough. The upper adaptor section includes slots extending from the fluid passage to an outer surface of the neck. The upper adaptor section also includes a plurality of fluid channels recessed in the outer surface of the upper adaptor piece.

A pumpjack includes a walking beam pivotally connected to a vertical support for oscillation in a generally vertical plane about a first axis. A first end of the walking beam is connected to a sucker rod string. A carriage is movably mounted to the walking beam to move back-and-forth along a length of a tail end of the walking beam. A pitman arm has a first end pivotally connected to the carriage for rotation about a second axis and a second end pivotally connected to a crank arm. A counterweight is mounted to the crank arm and a hydraulic ram is connected to the carriage to move the carriage back-and-forth along the walking beam and establish reciprocation of the sucker rod string.

A mechanically actuated traveling valve for use in fluid pumping equipment is provided. More particularly, a mechanically actuated traveling plug valve having a valve seat and a valve plug is provided for use in any positive displacement pump with a reciprocating element (either the plunger or the cylinder) capable of pumping fluids of any viscosity, with any gas to liquid ratio, operating at any inclination angle.

ROD ROTATOR

A rod rotator has a crankshaft with non-aligned crank journals, a first actuating pawl attached to the first crank journal and a second actuating pawl attached to the second crank journal, and a ratchet wheel connected to a polished rod. The first actuating pawl pushes on the ratchet wheel to rotate the ratchet wheel while the second actuating pawl pulls on the ratchet wheel to rotate the ratchet wheel at the same time.

Optical Alignment System for Beam Pumping Unit

A method for aligning a pump with a wellhead begins with the steps of attaching a target assembly to the pump and attaching an emitter assembly to the wellhead. The method continues with the step of emitting a beam of light from the emitter assembly to the target assembly. The method concludes with the step of determining the position of the pump with respect to the wellhead by evaluating the projection of the light beam on the target assembly. Based on this determination, the pump can be accurately aligned with the wellhead.

STABILIZER FOR INHIBITING SUCKER ROD BUCKLING DURING COMPRESSION MOMENTS IN ARTIFICIAL LIFT WELLS
