A needle hub including a core mounting structur, first and second panels each connected to the core mounting structure with an opening formed between the first panel and the second panel, and an introducer needle fixedly attached to the core mounting structure; a first actuation lever disposed within the opening, cantilevered at a central portion thereof from the core mounting structure that has a first actuation button disposed at a proximal free end and a first needle hub latch disposed at a distal free end. A needle tip shield is rotatably connected to one of the first and second panels and rotatable from a first position in which a distal end of the introducer needle is exposed to a second position shielding the distal end of the introducer needle.

DISPOSABLE MEDICAL DEVICE INTRODUCTION SYSTEM
20220117627 · 2022-04-21 ·

A disposable medical introduction system including a medical device and a disposable inserter. The disposable inserter includes a carrier to receive the medical device. The carrier includes at least one annular projection. The disposable inserter includes a retractor received within the at least one annular projection and movable relative to the at least one annular projection. The retractor has at least one retaining arm. The disposable inserter includes a needle cartridge coupled to the retractor that includes an insertion needle. The at least one retaining arm cooperates with the needle cartridge to maintain the insertion needle in a first, extended state. A movement of the retractor relative to the at least one annular projection releases the at least one retaining arm to move the insertion needle from the first, extended state to a second, retracted state.

Medication Injection Site and Data Collection System

A medication delivery apparatus for use with a medication container includes a housing, a fluid conduit at least partially extending within the housing and configured to deliver medication within the medication container to a patient, a medication port extending from the housing and configured to be coupled to a fluid outlet of the medication container, the medication port being fluidically coupled to the fluid conduit, and at least one sensor disposed within the housing to generate information characterizing administration of the medication for processing by a remote data collection system. The housing can have a size and shape that enables it to be supported by a first hand of a user while the user administers the medication from the medication container via the medication port using a second hand of the user. Related apparatus, systems, and techniques are also described.

Overmolded access port including anchoring and identification features

An access port for providing subcutaneous access to a patient is disclosed. In one embodiment, the port includes an internal body defining a fluid cavity that is accessible via a septum. A compliant outer cover including silicone is disposed about at least a portion of the body. A flange is included with the port body and is covered by the outer cover. The flange radially extends about a perimeter of the port body proximate the septum so as to impede penetration of a needle substantially into the outer cover in instances where the needle misses the septum. The flange can further include both an anchoring feature for securing the outer cover to the port body and an identification feature observable via x-ray imaging technology for conveying information indicative of at least one attribute of the access port. The outer cover provides a suitable surface for application of an antimicrobial/antithrombotic coating.

Tissue expanders having integrated drainage and infusion assemblies

A tissue expander having an integrated drain includes an outer shell having an opening and one or more drainage holes. An injection port is disposed in the opening of the shell and forms a fluid-tight seal with the shell. The injection port includes a needle guard having a needle guard base with a top surface, and a barrier membrane that overlies the top surface of the needle guard base. The barrier membrane defines an inflation chamber located between the top surface of the needle guard base and a bottom surface of the barrier membrane, and a drainage chamber overlying a top surface of the barrier membrane. The tissue expander includes one or more inflation ports that are in fluid communication with the inflation chamber for inflating and deflating the outer shell with a first fluid. A drainage conduit is in fluid communication with and extends between the drainage chamber and the one or more drainage holes for draining a second fluid from outside the shell.

Medical access ports, transfer devices and methods of use thereof

A medical system, comprising an implantable access port including an implantable access port body and at least one implantable access port needle; wherein the at least one needle is concealable inside the access port body in a concealed position and is exposable outside the access port body in an exposed position; wherein the at least one needle is arranged within the access port body to penetrate outwardly through skin of a subject from within the subject when the access port is implanted in the subject; a transfer device coupled to the at least one needle of the access port, the transfer device configured to transfer a fluid to and/or from the access port; and wherein the transfer device is configured to form a closed system with the access port, wherein the transfer device includes a fluid flow passage configured to transfer the fluid to and/or from the access port.

VASCULAR ACCESS DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR MONITORING PATIENT HEALTH

The present technology relates to vascular access devices, systems, and methods configured to monitor a patient's health. In some embodiments, the vascular access device may include a sensing element, and the system of the present technology may be configured to obtain physiological measurements of the patient via the sensing element, determine at least one physiological parameter based on the physiological measurement, compare the at least one physiological parameter to a predetermined threshold, and, based on the comparison, provide an indication of the patient's health.

INTRAVENOUS PORT CAP
20210346666 · 2021-11-11 ·

An illustrated view of an exemplary port cap for application to a port allowing access to a blood stream is presented. The port cap is useful for eliminating adjustments to the port cap while being transported for chemotherapy, a blood draw and the like. The port cap is useful for sticking or adhering to the port. The port cap is further useful for providing an efficient and effective method for providing a numbing agent, such as lidocaine, to the port to prevent sensitivity and to eliminate the need to constantly adjust the port cap while for instance during moving or dressing/undressing.
