METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING TENSION PNEUMOTHORAX USING A RAPID DEPLOYMENT CHEST PORT

The present disclosure provides apparatus and method for treating tension pneumothorax by using a rapid deployment chest port. The rapid deployment chest port can penetrate a patient's body to access a distressed pleural space. The rapid deployment chest port may create an airtight seal between the inside and outside of the patient's body and, when expanded, allow air or fluid to flow in one direction from inside the body to outside the body.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR LOCATING A NERVE BLOCK SITE BY ESTABLISHING A REFERENCE PLANE AND DELIVERING ANESTHETIC TO THE SITE

The present disclosure relates to a local anesthetic delivery device for delivering anesthetic to a nerve block site comprising a surgical mechanism for establishing a reference plane for identifying the nerve block site, wherein the surgical mechanism establishes the reference plane at the peritoneum and uses a known fixed distance to the nerve plane above to accurately locate the nerve block site and deliver anesthesia.

The present disclosure relates to a tube insert for a dialysis liquid line or a hydraulic tubing set, the tube insert including at least one housing; a first connection point for connecting a tube section of the hydraulic tubing set to the tube insert; a second connection point for connecting a second tube section of the hydraulic tubing set to the tube insert; a third connection point for connecting a fluid receptacle to the tube insert; a main line in fluid communication with the first connection point and with the second connection point; a secondary line in fluid communication with the third connection point; and a deflection element for deflecting the liquid, or parts thereof, flowing in the main line out of the flow direction and towards the secondary line.

Implantable venous access port with remote physiological monitoring capabilities

An apparatus for an implantable venous access port with remote physiological monitoring capabilities is disclosed. A system and method also perform the functions of the apparatus. In one embodiment the apparatus includes a chemotherapy access port, a plurality of sensors integrated with the chemotherapy access port, where the plurality of sensors determine one or more chemotherapy-related physiological indicators and the one or more physiological indicators include at least parameters selected from red blood cell count, white blood cell count, platelets, and/or ejection fraction. The apparatus includes a communications module integrated with the chemotherapy access port, where the communications module is configured to communicate the one or more chemotherapy-related physiological indicators to a computing device.

Implantable access port with one-directional filter
11745003 · 2023-09-05 · ·

An implantable access port including a port housing that defines a fill port cavity and includes a catheter fitting, a filter positioned within the port housing along a delivery flow pathway configured so that fluid injected into the fill port cavity passes through the filter prior to exiting through the catheter fitting, a one-way valve positioned within the port housing along an aspiration flow pathway configured to permit aspirated fluid to flow unfiltered from the catheter fitting to the fill port cavity and prevent injected fluid from flowing unfiltered from the fill port cavity to the catheter fitting, a port cover coupled to the port housing, and a pierceable septum positioned between the fill port cavity and the port cover configured to allow a needle to pierce through the pierceable septum to access the fill port cavity.

Percutaneous access apparatus

A percutaneous fluid access apparatus includes a percutaneous fluid access device. The percutaneous fluid access device has a base portion including a subcutaneous portion and at least one port for connection to one or more fluid conduits within a body of a patient. A housing has at least one fluid channel and at least one seal for sealing the at least one fluid channel, and the housing is removably attachable to the base portion. The at least one fluid channel is in fluid communication with the at least one port when the housing is attached to the base portion.

THERAPEUTIC DELIVERY DEVICE

A device for delivering one or more therapeutic agents to a mammal is provided. In at least one embodiment, the device includes (1) a port for receiving one or more therapeutic agents that is to be delivered to a mammal subcutaneously, the port having a stem; (2) a reservoir that is comprised of at least a compliant elastic material and a rate-controlling membrane that allows the one or more therapeutic agents to be delivered to the mammal at a controlled rate and the rate-controlling membrane and the compliant elastic material being attached to each other and the reservoir being capable of being inflated to contain one or more therapeutic agents and deflated, the reservoir being in fluid communication with the stem of the device.

Septum for Access Port

A medical device comprising an implantable subcutaneous access port having a septum penetrable by a needle; the septum having a cavity located between an outer wall and an inner wall, the cavity containing a flowable media comprising a plurality of displaceable particles arranged to move in response to the needle being inserted through the outer wall and into the cavity and reposition around the needle.

SELF-FLUSHING CONNECTOR
20230015576 · 2023-01-19 ·

A self-flushing connector includes a housing having a cavity, a first inlet port, a second inlet port, and an outlet port. A collapsible valve is disposed within the cavity. A first flow path extends from the first inlet port to the outlet port. The first inlet port and the second inlet port are fluidly connected through a gap defined between the body of the collapsible valve and an inner wall of the housing defining the cavity. A second flow path extends from the second inlet port to the first flow path. When the collapsible valve is in a closed state, the collapsible valve fluidly disconnects the second flow path from the first flow path while allowing fluid to flow through the first flow path. When the collapsible valve is in an open state, the second flow path is fluidly connected to the first flow path.
