SMART CONNECTION INTERFACE
A method and apparatus for a connection interface between a reservoir or syringe, infusion set tubing, and an infusion pump is provided. The reservoir, a base and a cap are connected to form an integrated unit that is capable of being inserted and secured in an infusion pump housing. The cap and the infusion pump are each provided with at least one sensor or at least one detectable feature, arranged to interact with at least one corresponding detectable feature or sensor on the other of the cap and infusion pump device, to detect one or more of the presence, position or other characteristic of the cap when the cap is aligned or coupled with the infusion pump housing. The detectable feature and sensor may be magnetic, RF, mechanical, optical or any combination.
System and method for joint integrity detection
An inspectable joint in a medical device is disclosed that includes at least one medical-grade tube having an end, a medical-grade fitting having at least one joining surface configured to accept the end of the tube, and a joining material disposed between the tube and the joining surface. The joining material includes a first component configured to couple the tube to the fitting and a second component configured to provide observable evidence of the presence of the joining material between the tube and the joining surface.
Fluid inlet adapter
An adapter for selectively providing fluid to a device from one of multiple fluid sources has a body with a first inlet for connecting a first one of the multiple fluid sources to the device and a second inlet for connecting a second one of the multiple fluid sources to the device. The adapter also includes a handle that is movably coupled to the body and includes an access control element. The handle is configured to secure the body to a device when the adapter is in either of a first position or a second position that is rotated relative to the first configuration. The access control element obstructs access to the second inlet when the adapter is secured to the device in the first position and the access control element obstructs access to the first inlet when the adapter is secured to the device in the second position.
Detection of patient interface disconnect for controlling continuous positive airway pressure therapy
Methods for detecting a patient disconnecting from a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy device are disclosed. A cyclical pressure difference signal is derived based upon measurements from a patient interface pressure sensor and from a source pressure sensor. The pressure difference signal is integrated to generate a resultant integral signal for each respiratory cycle, which is comprised of at least one inspiratory phase and at least one expiratory phase as represented by the corresponding portions of the pressure difference signal. A pressure source of the CPAP therapy device is deactivated in response to a disconnect condition being evaluated from the integral signal. In one embodiment, the disconnect condition is the integral signal exceeding a predefined disconnect threshold. In other, it is a slope value corresponding to a rate of increase of the integral signal exceeding a predefined threshold for a predefined duration.
System, Method, and Product for Event Monitoring
A signal measured by a sensor connected to a needleless connector including a fluid flow path may be obtained to determine, based on the signal, an event associated with the needleless connector, such as at least one of: a scrubbing event in which the needleless connector is scrubbed with a disinfectant, a flushing event in which the needleless connector is flushed with a solution, a connection event in which the needleless connector is connected to a medical device, a disconnection event in which the needleless connector is disconnected from the medical device, or any combination thereof. An indication of the determined event may be provided.

CAPACITIVE PRIMING SENSOR FOR A MEDICAL FLUID DELIVERY SYSTEM
A capacitive priming sensor for a medical fluid delivery system is disclosed. In an example embodiment, a priming sensor includes a housing including a recessed section configured to accept a portion of a patient tube. The housing includes a first electrode located adjacent to a portion of the patient tube when the portion of the patient tube is inserted into the housing and a second electrode located above the first electrode. The priming sensor also includes a capacitive sensor that measures a capacitance between the first electrode and the second electrode. A processor operates with the capacitive sensor and is configured to use the measured capacitance to determine a transition between a dry tube state and a wet tube state. The processor then causes a pump to stop pumping dialysis fluid through the patient tube for the priming sequence after the wet tube state is determined.
LIQUID FEEDING PUMP, ADAPTER, AND LIQUID FEEDING SET
A liquid feeding pump for feeding liquid in a liquid feeding tube, the liquid feeding pump including: a mounting portion to which a first clip member mounted to the liquid feeding tube is mountable; an adapter detachably attachable to the mounting portion; and a detection unit configured to detect mounting of the first clip member to the mounting portion, wherein: the adapter has a shape that disables detection by the detection unit of mounting of the first clip member by the detection unit and enables detection by the detection unit of mounting of a second clip member having a shape different from a shape of the first clip member.
INTELLIGENT MEDICAL FLUID CONDUCTION AND TRANSFER SYSTEM, AND COMPONENTS THEREFOR
A connecting piece having a transfer apparatus for data transfer and/or for transferring electrical energy with the counter connecting piece. A connecting piece of this type is preferably used in an intelligent medical fluid conduction and transfer system, in which various components are interconnected by means of the connecting pieces not only fluidically but also for the purpose of transferring energy and/or data with each other, such that, for example, information regarding the medication can be exchanged or validated.
Method for checking a connection state between a blood treatment apparatus and a blood tubing set, and apparatuses
Methods for checking a connection between a compressed air outlet of a blood treatment apparatus and a pressure measuring line of an extracorporeal blood tubing set. The methods include providing a blood treatment apparatus having a compressed air line. A compressed air device is in fluid communication with the compressed air line for generating pressure within the compressed air line. A compressed air outlet is in fluid communication with both the compressed air line and an exterior of the blood treatment apparatus. The compressed air outlet is connectable with a pressure measuring line and a pressure sensor. The method also includes building up a pressure and an air flow in the compressed air line and/or at the compressed air outlet, measuring a pressure at the compressed air outlet or in the compressed air line, and evaluating an increase of the measured pressure.
