METHOD FOR CHECKING A CONNECTION STATE BETWEEN A BLOOD TREATMENT APPARATUS AND A BLOOD TUBING SET, AND APPARATUSES
20200408632 · 2020-12-31 ·

Methods for checking a connection between a compressed air outlet of a blood treatment apparatus and a pressure measuring line of an extracorporeal blood tubing set. The methods include providing a blood treatment apparatus having a compressed air line. A compressed air device is in fluid communication with the compressed air line for generating pressure within the compressed air line. A compressed air outlet is in fluid communication with both the compressed air line and an exterior of the blood treatment apparatus. The compressed air outlet is connectable with a pressure measuring line and a pressure sensor. The method also includes building up a pressure and an air flow in the compressed air line and/or at the compressed air outlet, measuring a pressure at the compressed air outlet or in the compressed air line, and evaluating an increase of the measured pressure.

A safety needle is disclosed having a puncture needle with a needle lumen and a ground tip; a holding device that, during use, bears on the skin of a patient and holds the puncture needle; and a safety mechanism with a protection element that has a first, opened state and a second, closed state. When the holding device is taken away from the skin and/or when the holding device is moved with respect to the defined position, the safety mechanism automatically moves the protection element from a first position, in which the tip of the needle is exposed, to a second position, in which the tip of the needle is covered as the protection element at the same time transfers automatically from the first, opened state to the second, closed state.

DIALYSIS MACHINE HAVING SECURITY AGAINST CONFUSION FOR HYDRAULIC CONNECTORS

The present invention relates to a dialysis machine having two hydraulic connectors at the dialyzate side to which a respective connection line having a filter coupling is connected for connection to a dialyzer, with the hydraulic connectors being an inflow connector for feeding fresh dialysis liquid to the dialyzer and a backflow connector for draining consumed dialyzate from the dialyzer, and having two parking positions associated with the respective hydraulic connectors for storing the filter couplings when not in operation, wherein the filter couplings of both hydraulic connectors are equipped with a connection sensor which recognizes a connecting of the filter coupling to a dialyzer and/or that both parking positions are provided with separate covers.

Smart connection interface

A method and apparatus for a connection interface between a reservoir or syringe, infusion set tubing, and an infusion pump is provided. The reservoir, a base and a cap are connected to form an integrated unit that is capable of being inserted and secured in an infusion pump housing. The cap and the infusion pump are each provided with at least one sensor or at least one detectable feature, arranged to interact with at least one corresponding detectable feature or sensor on the other of the cap and infusion pump device, to detect one or more of the presence, position or other characteristic of the cap when the cap is aligned or coupled with the infusion pump housing. The detectable feature and sensor may be magnetic, RF, mechanical, optical or any combination.

Some fluid coupling devices described herein are configured for use in fluid systems for the purpose of providing a low-spill quick disconnect. Particular embodiments of these fluid coupling devices can be configured to improve medical fluid handling equipment because the fluid coupling devices can be connected and disconnected (e.g., multiple times) while minimizing fluid spillage.

APPARATUS FOR MONITORING A DISCONNECTION
20200268992 · 2020-08-27 ·

Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for monitoring the disconnection of a patient interface system during the ventilation, in which values which are indicative for the time curve of the respiratory gas flow are established and subjected to data evaluation, and wherein an alarm is triggered on the basis of the data evaluation if at least one value which is indicative for the time curve of the respiratory gas flow deviates from a specific limit value for a specific period of time.

Systems and methods for detection of ventilator and patient disconnections using patient lung compliance estimated on both inhalation and exhalation phases of a breath

The system, method and computer-readable storage medium are for detection of ventilator and patient disconnections using patient lung compliance estimated on both inhalation and exhalation phases of a breath. A ventilator breathing system (10) provides breathing gas to a patient, and includes a gas supply (12), a patient tubing circuit (14) coupled to the gas supply, and a gas monitoring system (16, 18) associated with the patient tubing circuit and configured to monitor at least flow and pressure. A control unit (20) is coupled to the monitoring system and configured to determine a patient disconnection from the system by estimating a patient lung compliance ratio based upon determined volumes of gas delivered during the inhalation phase of the breath cycle and exiting during the exhalation phase of the breath cycle, and monitored pressures in the patient tubing circuit during the inhalation and exhalation phases of the breath cycle.

Infusion system having filtration device and method

An infusion system includes an infusion catheter defining a fluid passage extending between a proximal catheter end and a distal catheter end, and having a plurality of infusion ports in communication with the fluid passage and defining an infusion zone. A filtration device is provided which may be retrofitted upon the infusion catheter and includes a filter sleeve coupled to a slidable control sleeve. The filter sleeve is deformable between a first configuration having a radially contracted footprint and a second configuration having a radially expanded footprint, responsive to sliding the control sleeve over the infusion catheter such that the deformable filter sleeve buckles outwardly from the infusion catheter.
