The invention provides a meat analogue product comprising from 10-60% by weight vegetable protein, at least 0.1% by weight of binding agent, from 10-60% by weight of water, and from 5-40% by weight of non-hydrogenated vegetable fat; wherein the non-hydrogenated vegetable fat has a saturated fatty acid (SAFA) content of at least 40% by weight, and a solid fat content (SFC) at 20° C. of at least 20%. The invention also provides a method for making the meat analogue product.

(1) The form of granular powder has a starch content of 75% by mass or more; (2) the form of granular powder contains 3% by mass or more and 45% by mass or less of a molecular weight-reduced starch of a starch having an amylose content of 5% by mass or more, the molecular weight-reduced starch having a peak molecular weight of 3×10.sup.3 or more and 5×10.sup.4 or less; (3) the form of granular powder has a degree of swelling in cold water at 25° C. of 5 or more and 20 or less; and (4) the content of matters under a sieve having an opening of 3.35 mm and on a sieve having an opening of 0.038 mm is 50% by mass or more and 100% by mass or less.
