Vial adapters
A vial adapter is provided for interconnecting a vial having a closure and a fluid delivery device such as a safety syringe. The vial adapter comprises an adapter housing having a base, a shroud extending or projecting from the base and a cannula extending or projecting from the base for penetrating a rubber seal on the vial closure to thereby establish fluid communication between the vial and the vial adapter. The shroud may comprise a plurality of latitudinal slits or windows within each of which resides a flexion arm connected to the shroud, each flexion arm capable of engaging and/or retaining vial closures of any of a variety of different sizes. The vial adapter may comprise a conduit tip in fluid communication with the cannula to allow transfer of fluid to or from the safety syringe while also preventing inadvertent activation of a safety syringe needle retraction mechanism.
Injection site information cap
A injection site information cap includes a housing, a cover portion, an engagement portion configured to couple to and cover an injection port of an injection site, and at least one information element on the cover portion that is positioned to be automatically sensed by at least one sensor of the injection site when the engagement portion is coupled to or is being coupled to the medication injection port. Related apparatus, systems, and techniques are also described.
Infusion pump methods, systems and apparatus
A system for priming an infusion pump is disclosed. The system includes a priming cap including a septum and configured to matably connect with a male part comprising a needle and attached to a length of tubing for fluid, wherein when matably connected with the male part, the priming cap occludes the tubing.
Connector System For Releasably Connecting Fluid Conduits
Disclosed herein are embodiments of a connector system for releasably connecting together tubes, for example medical tubing, and methods of making and using such a connector system, whereby the connector system includes a female coupler having a first passageway, a male coupler having a second passageway, a catch movably coupled to the female coupler, and a catch-receiving element coupled to the male coupler. The connector system further includes a release element movably coupled to the female coupler, whereby travel of the release element along or over a female coupler outer surface of the female coupler disengages the catch from the catch-receiving element to achieve a disconnected condition of the connector system. Further disclosed herein are embodiments of a connector system for releasably connecting together tubes, whereby the connector system includes at least one valve biased by a valve-biasing member disposed external to or outside of the fluid flow path.
Medical connector
A luer connector including a rigid housing having a first end and a second end. The housing further including a rigid tubular male portion at the first end, a rigid tubular female portion at the second end, and a longitudinal opening therethrough. The male portion is configured to be engageable with a female connector. The female portion is configured to be engageable with a male connector and to prevent the disengagement of the male connector from the female portion. In some embodiments, the female portion is configured to maintain a fixed rotational position when the male connector is being threaded therewith, but to rotate with the male connector once the male connector has become fully engaged with the female portion so as to prevent the male connector from becoming unthreaded from the female portion.
Devices and methods for formulation processing
Apparatuses and methods for controlling transfer of substances to a formulation container to provide a predetermined formulation. A controller may utilize one or more of a flow time, flow rate or a volume of transfer of substance. Barcoded and RFID-containing components may be used to determine what connection or disconnection has been made, and/or time thereof. Process compliance may compare measured or determined flow or connection time, flow rate and/or the transfer volume to a predetermined time, flow rate and/or volume, and adjust one or more of the time, flow rate and/or the volume of the transfer. An optional holder or cradle is configured to receive therein a fluid transfer connector formed by the connection of first and second connector portions, each in fluid communication with a flow conduit or channel that delivers substance to or receives substance from its respective connector portion, only if the connector portions are properly connected together. One or more sensors may be used to determine identification information of the connector and/or flow rates of substance through the connector.
INFUSION SYSTEM AND COMPONENTS THEREOF
Certain embodiments provide multi-medicament infusion systems for preventing the cross-channeling of medicaments. The system may include one or more of an infusion pump, medicament reservoirs, collars, a multi-channel fluid conduit, and an infusion set. The medicament reservoirs and/or collars may be sized and shaped differently such that the medicament reservoirs can only be inserted into the system selected configurations.
Infusion Adapter
An infusion adapter for connection with an infusion fluid container includes a connection portion configured to engage an injection port of an infusion fluid container, and a port configured to connect to an intravenous line, with the port in fluid communication with the connection portion. The connection portion includes a retaining ring extending radially outward from the connection portion, with the retaining ring configured to securely connect the infusion adapter to the infusion fluid container to substantially prevent disconnection of the infusion adapter from the infusion fluid container once the infusion adapter is connected to the infusion fluid container. The retaining ring includes an indicator configured to provide visualization of insertion of the connection portion into an injection port of an infusion fluid container.
CONNECTOR COUPLING ASSEMBLY
A connector assembly may include a cover defining a cavity, a luer portion extending through an open end of the cover, a proximal connector disposed at least partially in the cavity of the cover, a pusher mounted on the proximal connector, a distal connector at least partially disposed in the cover, and a stopwatch mounted on the cover and including at least one contact. The pusher may include a body portion and first and second pusher legs extending from the body portion. When the distal connector is coupled to a mating connector, the stopwatch may abut the first pusher leg such that the at least one contact is recessed within the stopwatch. When a force applied to the proximal connector exceeds a predetermined threshold the stopwatch may be separated from the first pusher leg and the at least one contact may extend proximally to activate a timer of the stopwatch.
Smart connection interface
A method and apparatus for a connection interface between a reservoir or syringe, infusion set tubing, and an infusion pump is provided. The reservoir, a base and a cap are connected to form an integrated unit that is capable of being inserted and secured in an infusion pump housing. The cap and the infusion pump are each provided with at least one sensor or at least one detectable feature, arranged to interact with at least one corresponding detectable feature or sensor on the other of the cap and infusion pump device, to detect one or more of the presence, position or other characteristic of the cap when the cap is aligned or coupled with the infusion pump housing. The detectable feature and sensor may be magnetic, RF, mechanical, optical or any combination.
