Instrument Advancement Device Having an Anti-Buckling Feature
An instrument advancement device may include a housing and an extension tube extending through the housing. A wedge may be disposed within the housing. The wedge may include an arc-shaped channel. A pair of opposing pinch members configured to pinch the extension tube may be disposed within the housing and configured to move along the extension tube. An instrument may extend through the arc-shaped channel. A first end of the instrument may be fixed. In response to moving the housing distally along the extension tube, the pair of opposing pinch members may push the wedge distally. In response to movement of the wedge distally a first distance, a second end of the instrument may be configured to advance distally a second distance. A support element or compressible element may be disposed within a lumen of the extension tube to support the instrument.
Integrated Catheter with Needle-Free Connector
An integrated intravenous catheter includes a catheter adapter having a catheter and an inlet, with the catheter configured to be inserted into a patient's vasculature, a needle-free connector comprising a first port, a second port positioned opposite the first port, and a side port positioned the first port and the second port, with the second port including a valve member, intermediate tubing extending between the inlet of the catheter adapter and the first port of the needle-free connector, and extension tubing extending from the side port of the needle-free connector.
Modular medical device system
A modular medical device system comprises a parent module with a proximal end configured to remain outside the body of a patient and a distal end configured to go inside the body of a patient, the distal end comprising an inner lumen; and an adapter module comprising a proximal portion and a distal portion, an attachment mechanism positioned at the proximal portion and comprising an interfacing element and an elongated element, wherein at least a portion of the interfacing element compresses to engage the inner lumen of the parent module, and wherein the elongated element connects the attachment mechanism to the distal portion of the adapter module.
Catheter Adapter with Flexible Strain Relief
A catheter adapter including a housing and an extension portion extending from the distal end of the housing and defining a passageway configured to receive a catheter. The first material of the housing is more flexible than the second material of the extension portion. The catheter adapter may further include a body contact portion comprising an upper surface corresponding to a surface of the housing and a lower surface defining an outer surface of the catheter adapter. The housing may include a body, an access port extending from the body, and a plurality of protrusions extending from the body and/or the access port. The body contact portion covers at least a portion of the housing, and the protrusions are embedded in and are completely surrounded by the body contact portion. The catheter adapter may further include a connection portion connecting the extension portion to the body contact portion.
LIQUID LEVEL SENSOR FOR LIQUID RECEPTACLE
Disclosed herein are various techniques and devices for detecting a level of fluid within a fluid collection receptacle. In one embodiment, a pressure sensor connected to a bottle is provided. The pressure sensor detects air pressure in the bottle as the bottle is filled with a liquid and provides information to determine a volume of the liquid in the bottle.
INSTRUMENT CONNECTION DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF
An instrument connection device having a flexible hose-like body with a flexible wall in which the proximal end of a hose is inserted. The hose has a lumen that extends longitudinally through the hose. A wire is arranged inside the hose, for example, inside the lumen. The wire is guided through a punctured hole in the wall that the wire may create during a penetration of wall. The punctured hole may be straight and guides the obliquely. For example, the hole may be inclined to the radial axis and the longitudinal center axis.
Adaptor for Mounting onto a Medical Container, a Medical Container Comprising Said Adaptor, and a Drug Delivery Device Comprising Said Medical Container
The adaptor includes a tubular wall having a proximal part configured to be secured onto a distal tip of a medical container and a distal part configured to receive said connector. The adaptor further includes an opening extending through said tubular wall, and an inner thread configured to cooperate with a connection element of the connector in order to secure the connector to the adaptor. The inner thread is configured to guide the connection element into said opening. The opening is positioned relative to the inner thread so as to make the connection element be visible to an end user when the connection between the adaptor and the connector is completed.
Adaptor for Mounting onto a Medical Container, a Medical Container Comprising Said Adaptor, and a Method for Manufacturing Said Adaptor
An adaptor for mounting onto a medical container, the adaptor including a distal part configured to receive a connector, and a proximal part configured to be mounted onto the distal tip of the medical container. The proximal part includes an inner ring protruding from a lateral tubular wall of the adaptor, said inner ring having an inner edge that delimits an opening configured to receive the distal tip. The proximal part further includes a gripping member made of an elastomer material, said gripping member being connected to the inner edge of the inner ring in order to be in contact with an outer surface of the distal tip when the adaptor is mounted onto the medical container.
Sensing catheters
A catheter system may include a catheter lumen, first and second electrodes, and a sensor in communication with the first and second electrodes. The sensor may be configured to detect at least one of: a bulk volume of blood within a blood vessel and extravasation of a drug from the blood vessel into soft tissue adjacent the blood vessel. Other catheter systems may include a catheter lumen and a sensing chip coupled to the catheter lumen. The sensing chip may be configured to detect at least one of: a bulk volume of blood within a blood vessel and extravasation of a drug from the blood vessel into soft tissue adjacent the blood vessel.
Assisted catheter advancement
A catheter assembly may include an introducer needle coupled to a needle hub, an intermediate member having a contact surface, a resilient member, and a ramp member. The resilient member may be coupled to one of the needle hub and the intermediate member. The ramp member may be coupled to the other one of the needle hub and the intermediate member. The resilient member may engage a ramp surface of the ramp member and impart a force on the intermediate member in a distal direction. The contact surface of the intermediate member may engage a proximal surface of a catheter adapter body and urge the catheter adapter body in the distal direction such that a catheter projecting from the catheter adapter body may be translated in the distal direction relative to the introducer needle.
