Coaxial venal cannula
A dual lumen cannula includes a first tube defining a return lumen and having a proximal end, a mid-portion and a distal end, wherein the distal end includes a return aperture. A second tube is coaxial with the first tube and has a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the distal end of the second tube is fixedly attached to the mid-portion of the first tube and wherein the distal end of the second tube includes a drainage aperture. A drainage lumen is defined by a space between the first tube and the second tube. A connector is attached to the proximal end of the second tube. The connector includes a reservoir for receiving a fluid from the proximal end of the second tube. The first tube extends through the connector and does not attach directly with the second tube at the connector, and the first tube remains substantially coaxial with the second tube throughout a length of the second tube.
Devices, systems and methods for medicament delivery
An apparatus includes a movable member and a valve coupled to the movable member. The movable member is configured to be disposed within a housing of a medical device and has a first end portion and second end portion. A portion of the first end portion is configured to define a portion of a boundary of a gas chamber. The first end portion defines an opening configured to be in fluid communication between the gas chamber and an area outside the gas chamber. The second end portion is configured to be coupled to a needle configured to deliver a medicament into a body. The valve is configured to selectively allow fluid communication between the gas chamber and the area outside the gas chamber through the opening defined by the first end portion of the movable member.
Non-luer compatible administration port
The present disclosure provides a medical connector for enteral applications. The medical connector includes a body portion having a distal patient access fitting and a proximal fluid delivery device fitting as well as an administration port. The administration port for administrating or extracting fluids or medicine includes a cylindrical cavity, an administration port seal having a normally-closed slit, a plunger, a plunger sleeve, and a compression member. Engaging a non-luer female tip with the administration port actuates the compression member such that the plunger pierces the normally-closed slit, causing it to open allowing fluid communication with the body portion.
CONNECTING STRUCTURE FOR MEDICAL USE
A connecting structure for medical use includes a male assembly 1 and a female connector 2. The male assembly 1 includes a male connector 10 and a threadedly engageable cylinder 20. A male luer portion 11 of the male connector 10 and a female luer portion 2a of the female connector 2 are joined by turning the threadedly engageable cylinder 20 in a tightening direction in a state where a female screw 21a of the threadedly engageable cylinder 20 and an engageable protrusion 2c of the female connector 2 are threadedly engaged with each other. A torque limiting mechanism 50 is disposed between an operation cylinder 30 mounted on an outer periphery of the threadedly engageable cylinder 20 and the threadedly engageable cylinder 20. Engageable teeth 51 are formed in an inner periphery of one end portion of the operation cylinder 30 over an entire periphery. A slit 54 is formed in one end portion of the threadedly engageable cylinder 20. The slit is composed only of a straight portion extending from an end of the threadedly engageable cylinder in an axial direction. An area adjacent to the slit 54 is provided as an elastically deformable portion 52. A first engageable claw 53 engageable with the engageable teeth 51 is formed in the elastically deformable portion 52.
BLOOD TRANSFER SHIELD AND METHODS OF USE
Systems and methods for shielded fluid transfer are provided. A fluid transfer shield is provided to facilitate transferring fluid from a first container to a secondary container. The fluid transfer shield includes a shield having an exterior and defining an interior space, a first port extending from the exterior of the shield, the first port configured to be fluidly coupled to the first container, and a second port extending opposite the first port and into the interior space of the shield so that the shield laterally surrounds the second port, the second port configured to be fluidly coupled to the secondary container. A passageway is provided that extends between the first port and the second port to fluidly couple the first container and the secondary container when the first container is fluidly coupled to the first port and the secondary container is fluidly coupled to the second port.
MALE CONNECTING DEVICE FOR MEDICAL USE
A male connecting device for medical use 1 includes a male connector 10 having a cylindrical configuration and a threadedly engageable cylinder 20 rotatably coupled to the male connector 10. A male luer portion 11 of the male connector 10 and a female luer portion 2a of the female connector 2 are joined by turning the threadedly engageable cylinder 20 in a tightening direction T. The male connecting device 1 further includes a loosening prevention mechanism 40 that prohibits rotation of the threadedly engageable cylinder 20 in a loosening direction L with respect to the male connector 10. The loosening prevention mechanism 40 includes ratchet teeth 41 formed in an inner periphery of the threadedly engageable cylinder 20, an elastic leaf 42 formed in the male connector 10 and extends in a circumferential direction and an engageable claw 43 protruded from a free end of the elastic leaf 42 and engageable with the ratchet teeth 41.
IV extension set or IV set system with bypass manifold
An intravenous (IV) set system comprising a primary IV set having a plurality of access points facilitating access to one or more fluid pathways of the primary IV set, and an IV extension set removably coupled to the primary IV set to form an extended primary IV set, the IV extension set comprising an extension flow line defining an extension flow path, and a plurality of access ports on the extension flow line, at least two of the access ports comprising access ports located between first and second ends of the IV extension set. The IV set system further comprises a bypass manifold externally and removably coupled to the extension flow line of the IV extension set via the intermediate access ports on the extension flow line, the bypass manifold comprising a bypass flow line adjacent the extension flow line, and one or more access points that facilitate access to the bypass flow line, wherein the bypass manifold and the bypass flow line are operable to provide a bypass flow path through the IV extension so.
ANTIMICROBIAL CAP FOR LUER CONNECTOR
A male luer cap comprising a male luer, the male luer having a tapered sealing surface configured to mate with a female tapered surface of a female luer connector to form a substantially fluid-tight seal; a distal tip having a recess defined by a recess surface that is distal to the tapered sealing surface; and a water-soluble antimicrobial composition disposed on the recess surface; wherein the male luer is configured such that, when the male cap is mated with a female connector to form a substantially fluid-tight seal, a cavity is formed between the female tapered surface and the recess surface.
Connector with integrated non-return check valve for extension tubing and urology collection systems
A connector-with-integrated-check-valve for minimizing microbial migration to catheter-tubing is formed from three parts: a connector-for-catheter-tubing that is hollow and with an internal valve seat; an elastomer gate (sometimes with disc and stem); and a connector-for-extension-tubing that is hollow and with support-surfaces. When one end of the connector-for-catheter-tubing is attached to one end of the connector-for-extension-tubing, a pocket is formed where the seat is disposed opposite and facing the support-surfaces; the gate is disposed within this pocket; such that when the gate contacts this seat due to urine backflow (reflux), the connector-with-integrated-check-valve is closed to such urine backflow; and where a remaining end of the connector-for-catheter-tubing is attachable to catheter-tubing; and where a remaining end of the connector-for-extension-tubing is attachable to the extension-tubing, such that there is a continuous urine flow path from the catheter-tubing, to the connector-with-integrated-check-valve when open, and to the extension-tubing.
