Modular pressure cylinder for a downhole tool
A modular pressure cylinder for a downhole tool has an active mandrel tube that supports a modular pressure cylinder. Pistons of the modular pressure cylinder are respectively interconnected and cylinder walls of modular pressure cylinder are respectively interconnected. When fluid is pumped through a tubing string into the downhole tool, the pistons are urged in one direction while the cylinder walls are urged in an opposite direction along an axis of the active mandrel tube.
Resettable packer system for pumping operations
A resettable packer system for pumping operations includes an inflatable packer that expands between the resettable packer system and a tubing wall or a casing wall, thereby creating a seal in a well and a pump that inflates the inflatable packer at a desired depth within the well when activated. The resettable packer system further includes an inner sleeve that includes ports for a fluid to pass through, an outer sleeve that is connected to the pump and creates a sealed fluid chamber with the inflatable packer when ports of the outer sleeve and the ports of the inner sleeve are misaligned. In addition, the inner sleeve slides axially along an inner surface of the outer sleeve, thereby aligning or misaligning the ports of the outer sleeve with the ports of the inner sleeve. Further, the inflatable packer contracts when the pump is inactive.
Alternate flow paths for single trip multi-zone systems
A single trip multi-zone completion system includes a plurality of completion sections operatively coupled together and extendable within a wellbore. Each completion section includes a base pipe providing an interior and defining one or more perforations at a single axial location to provide fluid communication between the interior and an annulus defined between the completion section and a wellbore wall. One or more sand screens are radially offset from the base pipe such that a flow annulus is defined therebetween, and a production sleeve is movably arranged within the interior of the base pipe between a closed position, where the production sleeve occludes the one or more perforations, and an open position, where the one or more perforations are exposed. A shunt system is positioned about the base pipe to receive and redirect a gravel slurry flowing in the annulus, and thereby provide an alternate flow path for the gravel slurry.
Straddle packer with fluid pressure packer set and velocity bypass
A straddle packer has a multicomponent mandrel with an active mandrel component. A modular pressure cylinder reciprocates within a limited range over the active mandrel component. Pistons the modular pressure cylinder are respectively interconnected and cylinder walls of modular pressure cylinder are respectively interconnected. When fluid is pumped through a tubing string into the straddle packer, the pistons are urged in one direction along an axis of the active mandrel component while the cylinder walls are urged in an opposite direction along the axis to simultaneously compress spaced-apart packers of the straddle packer to a packer set condition.
Dynamically self-balancing pressurized borehole-sealing apparatus and method thereof for coal seam gas pressure measurement
A dynamically self-balancing pressurized borehole sealing apparatus and method thereof for coal seam gas pressure measurement having a pressure measuring tube arranged in a borehole with one end of the pressure measuring tube provided with a pressure measuring unit. The pressure measuring tube is wrapped with an expansion airbag and provided with a pressure introducing hole communicating with the expansion airbag. On each side of the expansion airbag, the pressure measuring tube is wrapped with a front borehole inflatable sealing airbag and a rear borehole inflatable sealing airbag respectively. A gel injection chamber is reserved between the front borehole sealing airbag and the rear borehole sealing airbag and between the expansion airbag and an inner side of the borehole. Gas from the pressure measuring tube expands the expansion airbag and squeezes sealing gel in the gel injection chamber into borehole fractures for dynamic pressurized sealing.
Active external casing packer (ECP) for frac operations in oil and gas wells
A zonal isolation device in the form of an active external casing packer is provided which includes a tubular section such as a casing or liner and at least one sleeve member positioned on the exterior of the casing or liner and sealed thereto. The method detailed herein provides zonal isolation by use of a pair of spaced apart sleeve members during a frac operation where frac fluid is supplied to a zone (in between the pair of sleeve members) requiring to be frac'd, where the frac pressure acts not only on the outside of the zonal isolation device but also on the interior of the sleeve member to enhance the seal provided thereby.
DYNAMICALLY SELF-BALANCING PRESSURIZED BOREHOLE-SEALING APPARATUS AND METHOD THEREOF FOR COAL SEAM GAS PRESSURE MEASUREMENT
Provided are a dynamically self-balancing pressurized borehole sealing apparatus and a method thereof for coal seam gas pressure measurement, wherein the dynamically self-balancing pressurized borehole sealing apparatus for coal seam gas pressure measurement comprises a pressure measuring tube arranged in a borehole, one end of the pressure measuring tube is provided with a pressure measuring unit for measuring a gas pressure, the pressure measuring tube is surrounded and wrapped with an expansion airbag, the pressure measuring tube is provided with a pressure introducing hole communicating with the expansion airbag, both sides of the expansion airbag on the pressure measuring tube are surrounded and wrapped with a front borehole sealing airbag and a rear borehole sealing airbag respectively, a gel injection chamber is reserved between the three of the front borehole sealing airbag, the rear borehole sealing airbag and the expansion airbag and an inner side of the borehole, the gel injection chamber is filled with a sealing gel body, the front borehole sealing airbag and the rear borehole sealing airbag are connected to an inflating unit outside the borehole through an inflating pipe, and the gel injection chamber is connected to a gel injecting unit outside the borehole through a gel injection pipe. The present disclosure has the following benefits: a coal seam borehole sealing effect of coal seam gas pressure measurement is effectively improved and the coal seam gas pressure can be measured accurately.
Inflatable Downhole Packer Tool
An inflatable packer assembly configured to be conveyed within a wellbore. The inflatable packer assembly includes a mandrel having a flowline, a first packer ring slidably connected with the mandrel, a second packer ring fixedly connected with the mandrel, a latching mechanism fluidly connected with the flowline, and an inflatable packer fluidly connected with the flowline. The inflatable packer may be disposed around the mandrel and sealingly connected with the first and second packer rings. The inflatable packer may be operable to expand against a sidewall of the wellbore upon receiving a fluid from the flowline. The latching mechanism may be operable to limit movement of the first packer ring with respect to the mandrel, and permit the movement of the first packer ring with respect to the mandrel upon being actuated by the fluid from the flowline.
