MARKER INSTALLATION METHOD AND MARKER INSTALLATION SYSTEM

An installation system has a laser range finder set at a reference position to measure a distance to a target, an installation cart which performs operation for laying a magnetic marker in a road, and an arithmetic unit which identifies a position relation of a laying position where the magnetic marker is laid with respect to the reference position. When operation for laying the magnetic marker in a road is performed, by taking the installation cart during performing the operation of laying the magnetic marker in the road as a target, based on a distance to the installation cart measured by the laser range finder, the position relation of the laying position with respect to the reference position is identified by the arithmetic unit.

Milled roadway features for cable and tape pathways

A device for applying a distribution cabling tape system includes a distribution cabling tape having an adhesive capable of adhering to a concrete or asphalt substrate and a distribution cable. The device includes an endoscope camera, wherein movement of the device in one direction simultaneously applies both the distribution cable and the distribution cabling tape at a location on the substrate viewable by the endoscope camera. A method for registering a cable and a cabling tape into a channel in a concrete or asphalt substrate includes using an endoscope to view the location at which the cable and cabling tape are applied.

Rumble strip forming apparatus and method

The present device is a rumble strip forming apparatus for reducing the amount of reactive force transferred to the transporter. The rumble strip forming apparatus includes a transport, a lift device, a grinder, and a drive means that connect drive portions of the transport to the grinder to synchronize engagement of a cutting device with the pavement with forward movement of the transport while providing rearward movement of the grinder drum during cutting. The grinder is configured to provide both rotation of a pavement cutter and up and down movement of the pavement cutter while portions of the grinder remain in contact with the pavement.

Milling-drumless products, systems, manufactures, and methods for removing material, such as concrete or asphalt, and a system and method of assembling material removal (for example, grinding and/or cutting) blade elements, or blade elements and spacers, to fabricate a configuration that eliminates a need for a large milling drum are provided. The method allows the configuration to be adjusted easily in a field situation to most any material removal width by exchanging, adding or subtracting blade elements and/or spacers.

Groove monitoring system for roadway markings

Systems and method for applying roadway marking materials into a groove(s) in a roadway surface and/or forming a recessed groove(s) in a roadway surface. The systems and methods incorporate a contour sensor that provides real-time information of the marking material and/or groove. Based on the contour information, a marking material applicator can be aligned with a recessed groove in a roadway surface to ensure the marking material is applied within the confines of the groove. Alternatively, such contour information may be acquired during groove formation to ensure depth, tilt and/or bottom surface smoothness of the groove is within predetermined limits.

Methods, compositions and systems for enhancing the useful life of a transportation surface

Methods, compositions and systems for prolonging the lives of transportation surfaces, including pavement, runways, bridges and parking structures include physically altering the transportation surface and chemically protecting the transportation surfaces. Physical alteration of a transportation surface may include physically altering one or both of a microtexture and a macrotexture of the transportation surface. Chemical protection of a transportation surface may include hardening and/or densifying the transportation surface. The transportation surface may be chemically protected while physically altering the transportation surface or after the transportation surface has been physically altered.
