Sterile flexible package with pressure compensator for the dosed reconstitution of fluid medicinal or nutritional substances to be administered to patients by infusion or injection
The package comprises a sterile bag filled with liquid diluent, a bottle equipped with a pierceable cap to contain a medicinal substance and a tube extending from the bag and having a coupling and perforation device for the cap. The bag is housed in a first casing, while the bottle and the coupling and perforation device are in a second casing. The tube has a portion, housing a flow diverter adjustable from a first position which impedes any communication between the bottle and the bag, a second position which allows the bag to be put in communication with a sealed side opening for a syringe, or a third position which allows the bottle to be connected with said side opening. Another side opening of the flow diverter a flexible tube with hydrophobic filter is attached, terminating into one of said sterile sealed casings and serving as a pressure compensator.
Catheter, switching device, and method for operating catheter
A catheter includes: a first port; a second port; a first lumen communicating with the first port; a second lumen configured to selectively communicate with the first port and/or the second port; and a switching mechanism part selectively switchable between a first switching state in which the first port and the second lumen communicate with each other and a second switching state in which communication between the first port and the second lumen is blocked.
SPLIT DILATOR ASPIRATION SYSTEM
A split dilator aspiration system is disclosed. The system includes a catheter, having an elongate, flexible tubular body with a proximal end, a distal end, a side wall defining a central lumen, and a handle on the proximal end. A dilator is advanceable through the central lumen, the dilator having an elongate body, cannulated to receive a guidewire, and an axially extending split along at least a portion of the elongate body, configured to allow removal of a portion of the dilator laterally from the guidewire.
System for safe radioisotope preparation and injection
A system for safe radioisotope preparation and injection of H.sub.2.sup.15O for use in Positron Emission Tomography (PET). The disclosure also relates to a safety valve for controlling a flow of H215O for use in PET, to a use of said safety valve and to a method for preparing and injecting H.sub.2.sup.15O.
Device and method for dispensing foam
A foam transfer or dispensing device is described which dispenses foam from a source of foam, typically a pressurised canister, and which enables efficient purging or air and an initial volume of foam from the device to ensure foam sterility and quality when a syringe is filled from the device. The device comprises a foam inlet arranged for communication with a source of foam, a foam pathway in fluid communication with the foam inlet and comprising a foam outlet, arranged for engagement by a syringe nozzle; and a waste outlet in fluid communication with the foam pathway. The foam pathway comprises a tubular projection arranged to extend through the foam outlet and into a syringe nozzle when a syringe is connected to the foam outlet, which improves the efficiency of the purging process and prevents pooling of air or foam. The device further comprises a means for restricting displacement of material through the waste outlet, so that the user can control the volume of foam that is wasted.
Connector
A connector includes: a housing that includes a tubular body connecting unit to which a tubular body is connectable, a concave portion inside the housing, and a receiving portion; and a valve body configured such that, when the tubular body is connected to the tubular body connecting unit, the valve body is pressed by the tubular body against a biasing force, thereby sliding from a closed position to an opened position. The valve body includes an overriding portion configured such that, as the valve body slides from a closed position side toward an opened position side, the overriding portion is pressed against the receiving portion of the housing and rides over the receiving portion by elastic deformation.
Connector and transfusion set
A connector provided with a housing which defines an insertion section into which a male connector is inserted from the outside and a flow path communicating with the insertion section and an elastic valve body which has a slit and blocks the insertion section. The housing includes a tip receiving section formed on an inner wall defining the flow path, the tip receiving section receiving a tip of the male connector inserted through the slit of the elastic valve body. The tip receiving section is formed on only a part of the inner wall in a cross section that is perpendicular to an insertion direction of the male connector and includes at least a part of the tip receiving section.
Antimicrobial inserts for stopcock medical connectors
Various embodiments of an antimicrobial insert for a stopcock medical connector are provided. More specifically, the present invention relates to an antimicrobial insert that is seated within at least a portion of the annular bore of the connector's tap, wherein fluid within the annular bore contacts the antimicrobial insert, thereby preventing microbial proliferation within the stopcock medical connector.
Apparatus and methods of dispensing fluid intravenously and flushing lines of intravenous fluid administration systems
Apparatus and methods of dispensing fluid intravenously to a subject, and of flushing a line of an intravenous fluid administration apparatus, are provided. The apparatus may include a chamber including a plurality of connector ports and be configured to operate in fluid communication with an upstream source via a first connector port and, during operation, pass therethrough to downstream tubing, under a first pressure condition, first fluid from the upstream source via a second connector port. A third connector port may be configured to connect to an end of tubing or a valve connector such that, during operation, the chamber is configured to, under a second, higher pressure condition, pass therethrough to the downstream tubing a second fluid from a second fluid source via the third and second connector ports, prevent first fluid flow into the downstream tubing, and prevent second fluid flow through the first connector port.
Apparatus and methods of dispensing fluid intravenously and flushing lines of intravenous fluid administration systems
Apparatus and methods of dispensing fluid intravenously to a subject, and of flushing a line of an intravenous fluid administration apparatus, are provided. The apparatus may include a reservoir pump configured to operate in fluid communication with an upstream source of a first fluid and a downstream pressure-operated valve. The apparatus may also include a port connector configured to operate in fluid communication with at least the pressure-operated valve. The reservoir pump may also be configured to, during operation, automatically refill itself with the first fluid from the first upstream source. The downstream pressure-operated valve may be configured to operate in fluid communication with the reservoir pump and a second fluid source upstream of the pressure-operated valve, and to, during operation, dispense the first fluid to tubing downstream of the pressure-operated valve based on a pressure condition within the pressure-operated valve exceeding a threshold pressure.
