Multi-stage scroll vacuum pumps and related scroll devices

A multi-stage vacuum pump, expander, or compressor, that incorporates one or more stages of a fixed scroll(s) and orbiting scroll(s) that operates simultaneously. The motor drives the orbiting scroll(s) within the structure, and the various fixed and orbiting scrolls are arranged for either parallel generation of a vacuum or high pressure gas, or arranged in series for generating of a significantly high vacuum or gaseous pressure, or a combination of parallel arranged and series arranged fixed and orbiting scrolls may be embodied within the structure, operated by a single motor means, in order to attain the high efficiencies of operation as a vacuum pump, or a gaseous compressor, during its functioning. The various combinations of orbiting and fixed scrolls, when arranged as aforesaid, can be reduced in size, or miniaturized, and used in conjunction with small appliances, or even in hand-held instruments, as for example, for use in conducting mass spectrometry, or for other purposes. The actual structure of the multi-stage devices can include the fixed and orbiting scrolls adjacent the motor, or the singular motor may be located intermediate various stages of the formed vacuum pump/compressor, in its assembly.

Compressor Having Capacity Modulation Assembly

A compressor may include a shell, first and second scrolls, a seal assembly, a modulation control chamber, and a modulation control valve. The first scroll may include a first end plate having a biasing passage extending therethrough. The seal assembly may isolate a discharge pressure region from a suction pressure region. The seal assembly and the first scroll may define an axial biasing chamber therebetween that communicates with the axial biasing chamber and a first pocket between the first and second scrolls. The modulation control chamber may be fluidly coupled with the biasing chamber by a first passage. The modulation control valve may be fluidly coupled with the modulation control chamber by a second passage and movable between a first position allowing communication between the second passage and the suction pressure region and a second position restricting communication between the second passage and the suction pressure region.

Compressor assembly with directed suction

A compressor may include a shell assembly, a compression mechanism and a conduit. The shell assembly may include a fitting through which fluid is received from outside of the compressor. The compression mechanism may be disposed within a chamber defined by the shell assembly. The conduit may extend through the chamber between the fitting and a suction inlet of the compression mechanism and transmit at least a portion of the fluid from the fitting to the suction inlet. The conduit may include an inlet that may be spaced apart from the fitting and an outlet that may engage the compression mechanism.

Co-rotating scroll compressor and method for designing the same

A co-rotating scroll compressor includes a driving-side scroll member (7), a driven-side scroll member (9), a pin ring mechanism (15), a driving-side bearing (11) that rotatably supports the driving-side scroll member (7), and a driven-side bearing (13) that rotatably supports the driven-side scroll member (9). A center of gravity of at least one of the driving shaft (6), the driving-side scroll member (7), and the driven-side scroll member (9) is shifted from rotation centers (CL1, CL2) by a predetermined distance. The predetermined distance is set so that a total bearing load obtained by centrifugal force and fluid compression that is 5% of a dynamic load rating of the driving-side bearing (11) and the driven-side bearing (13) or more is generated.

A compressor includes a non-orbiting scroll, an orbiting scroll, a driveshaft, a bearing housing and a bushing. The non-orbiting scroll includes a first spiral wrap. The orbiting scroll includes an end plate having a first side and a second side. The first side has a second spiral wrap that extends therefrom and meshingly engages with the first spiral wrap of the non-orbiting scroll. The second side has a hub extending therefrom. The driveshaft has a crankpin that is received in the hub and that drives the orbiting scroll. The bushing includes a first member and a second member. The first member is disposed within the hub of the orbiting scroll between the hub and the crankpin of the driveshaft. The second member extends radially from the first member and is disposed between the hub and the bearing housing.

Boltless fixed scroll-to-frame joint

A scroll compressor and methods of assembling the scroll compressor are disclosed. The scroll compressor includes a frame aligned about a longitudinal axis of the scroll compressor, the frame including a plurality of extensions extending radially from the longitudinal axis, the plurality of extensions including axially extending frame interlock mechanisms. A fixed scroll support is aligned about the longitudinal axis, the fixed scroll support including a plurality of extensions extending radially from the longitudinal axis, the plurality of extensions including axially extending fixed scroll support interlock mechanisms configured to engage the frame interlock mechanisms upon radial rotation. A fixed scroll wrap is integral with or attached to the fixed scroll support.

A compressor includes a first throttle portion that receives a refrigerant at an intermediate pressure from an injection pipe of a refrigerant circuit, an enlarged flow path portion that receives the refrigerant from the first throttle portion, a second throttle portion that receives the refrigerant from the enlarged flow path portion, and a compression element. The compression element includes a compression chamber that receives the refrigerant from the second throttle portion. The first throttle portion has a flow path cross-sectional area that is narrower than both a flow path cross-sectional area of the injection pipe and a flow path cross-sectional area of the enlarged flow path portion. The second throttle portion has a flow path cross-sectional area that is narrower than the flow path cross-sectional area of the enlarged flow path portion.

Co-rotating scroll compressor

The present invention provides a co-rotating scroll compressor that can inhibit leakage of lubricant supplied to a synchronous drive mechanism. A co-rotating scroll compressor includes a drive-side plate 20 placed between a driving scroll member 70 and a motor 5 at a predetermined distance from the driving scroll member 70 in a direction of a drive-side rotation axis CL1. The drive-side plate 20 includes a shaft portion 20b fixed to a driving shaft 6 of the motor 5 and a fixing portion 20a fixed to an outer periphery of the driving scroll member 70, and a synchronous drive mechanism made up of a needle bearing 32a and a pin 32b is placed between the drive-side plate 20 and driving scroll member 70.
