A rotary internal combustion engine includes a main rotor housing that has a peripheral wall that circumscribes a rotor cavity, a first interface surface and a second interface surface. A rotor is disposed within the rotor cavity. First and second side housings are secured against corresponding first and interface surfaces of the main rotor housing. The main rotor housing, the first side housing and the second side housing are formed from an aluminum alloy and at least one of the first interface surface and the second interface surface include an anti-fretting coating.

Compact structure of gear pump designed to minimize loss of pumping torque

A gear pump apparatus is equipped with a pump and a sealing mechanism which is made up of an outer member, an inner member, and a rubber member fit between the outer and inner members. The inner member has a pressure-exerted surface to which pressure, as produced by contact of the rubber member with the inner member arising from application of discharge pressure of the pump, is applied. The pressure-exerted surface has a flange which creates thrust to move the inner member away from the gear pump, thereby bringing the inner member against an inner wall of a pump casing to develop a hermetical seal between a high-pressure region and a low-pressure region within the pump casing. This eliminates the leakage of pressure and ensures torque required for a pumping operation of the pump.

A rotor for a rotary cylinder includes a body having a tube and a plate which has the first end integrally formed to the tube, and the second end of the plate extends radially relative to the tube. The plate is a solid plate and has a curved outer periphery. A first recessed area is defined in each of the top and the bottom of the plate. A waist is formed to the plate and located between the first and second ends of the plate. A resilient coat is coated to the body and includes a Y-shaped seal portion along the curved outer periphery of the plate so as to be movably in contact with the inside of the cylinder.

Vacuum pump with longitudinal and annular seals

A multi-stage vacuum pump may include first and second half-shell components defining a plurality of pumping chambers and for assembly together along respective longitudinal extending faces; first and second end stator components for assembly at respective longitudinal seals for sealing between the first and second half-shell stator components when assembled together at the longitudinally extending faces; and annular seals for sealing between the first and second end stator components and the first and second half-shell stator components when assembled; wherein the longitudinal seals have end portions which abut against the annular seals for sealing therebetween and the first and second half-shell stator components have formations for resisting movement of the end portions away from the annular seals when the end portions are compressed between the first and second half-shell stator components.

ROTARY ENGINE SEALS

The invention relates to a rotor assembly having a sealing system for sealing at apexes or faces of the rotor. In a disclosed arrangement the apex seal or the face seal comprises a compliant member that is configured such that the shape or orientation of the compliant member can change in use in response to a change in the speed of rotation of the rotor, a change in the pressurisation across the compliant member, or a change in clearance between the sealing surface and a mounting element to which the compliant member is mounted, to deflect towards or away from the sealing surface.

Sealing grommet for connection between terminal housing and interior of sealed compressor

A sealed compressor has an electric motor received within a hermetically sealed shell. The electric motor drives a compressor pump unit. An electric connection provides electric power to the motor. A terminal housing is mounted on the shell, with a terminal plug for supplying electrical power from outside of the shell into a connector within the shell. A grommet is at an opening in the shell which allows passage of the electric connector from the terminal plug to the electric connection. The grommet has a first surface positioned on an opposed side of a wall of a housing spaced from the shell, and a second surface sealing against the shell. The grommet has an interior portion allowing passage of the electrical connections from the terminal plug into the electric connector within the shell.

Sealing device for a cam ring of a variable displacement pump

A sealing device includes a relatively dimensionally stable, elongated friction and/or wear element and an elastically-deformable elongated sealing element which rests lengthwise on the friction and/or wear element. The friction and/or wear element encompasses the sealing element at the ends of the friction and/or wear element.

Variable displacement vane pump

A variable displacement vane pump includes: an adapter ring (a cam ring housing member) that defines a first fluid pressure chamber and a second fluid pressure chamber relative to an outer periphery of a cam ring, the cam ring being moved relative to a rotor by a differential pressure between the first fluid pressure chamber and the second fluid pressure chamber; a seal housing groove formed in an inner periphery of the adapter ring; and a slipper seal which is inserted into the seal housing groove and with which an outer periphery of the cam ring comes into sliding contact when the cam ring moves, whereby the slipper seal partitions the first fluid pressure chamber from the second fluid pressure chamber, wherein the slipper seal is formed in a thin plate shape having a square cross-section.
