Balancing and sealing piston, and associated cooling circuit and method
A balancing and sealing piston system for an integrated motor compressor is described. The system comprises a balancing piston designed to be mounted on a shaft of a motor compressor to compensate for the differential pressure applied to the impellers of the compression section of the motor compressor, and a sealing device surrounding the balancing piston and designed to be mounted on a case of the motor compressor to seal part of the compression section. The system further comprises a gas extraction port, the axial position of which is determined such that the pressure value of extracted gas is equal to a predetermined value that is less than the value of the discharge pressure.
INTEGRATED TURBOMACHINE WITH AN AXIAL LOCKING DEVICE
An integrated turbomachine is described, comprising: a casing; an electric motor and a driven turbomachine component housed in the casing; a rotating shaft drivingly connecting the electric motor and the driven turbomachine component; a thrust bearing and a radial bearing rotatingly supporting the shaft; an axial locking device housed inside the casing, for applying a thrust to the shaft, parallel to the rotation axis (A-A) of the shaft, and comprised of an actuator member, configured to selectively activate and/or deactivate the axial locking device.
TURBINE ENGINE EJECTOR THROAT CONTROL
An apparatus and method for providing a pressurized air supply to a balance piston assembly to balance an axial load on a gas turbine engine compressor. The pressurized air supply can be supplied by mixing valve mixing a primary and secondary pressure bleed air supply relative to feedback received from the balance piston assembly to maintain a predetermined pressure at the balance piston assembly.

TURBINE ENGINE INCLUDING A WATER SYSTEM
A turbine engine includes a spool with a compressor for providing a compressed air flow to a turbine, a shaft that connects the compressor and a turbine such that the compressor and the turbine rotate together, and a fuel supply. A combustor located downstream of the compressor receives and combusts the compressed air flow and the fuel supply, generating combustion gases. The combustion gases rotate the turbine, in turn rotating the spool. A balance piston for applying an axial force on the spool includes a rotating boundary portion and a fixed enclosure portion that does not rotate, defining a balance piston cavity. A water system provides water to the balance piston cavity, heat transfer from the balance piston to the water causes expansion of the water, the water in the balance piston cavity being balance piston fluid that is pressurized and applies an axial force to the spool.
