SWITCHING ROCKER ARM
A rocker arm assembly includes an outer arm having a first outer side arm and a second outer side arm, each of the first and second outer side arms having a low lift lobe contacting surface, an inner arm having a high lift lobe contacting surface and disposed between the first and second outer side arms, the inner arm having a first end and a second end operably associated with a lash adjuster and defining a latch bore, and a latch assembly arranged at least partially within the latch bore. The latch assembly is movable between a first configuration and a second configuration. In the first configuration, the latch assembly engages the outer arm such that the outer arm rotates with the inner arm, and in the second configuration, the latch assembly disengages the outer arm such that the outer arm rotates independently from the inner arm.
VARIABLE VALVE DRIVE HAVING A ROCKER LEVER
The present disclosure relates to a variable valve drive for a lifting valve, in particular for a charge-exchange valve of an internal combustion engine, which is periodically movable between a closed position and an open position indirectly by way of a cam via a rocker lever. The variable valve drive includes a switchable rocker lever arrangement for the actuation of the lifting valve, having a transmission rocker lever and a valve rocker lever which are mounted pivotably on different rocker lever axles which are each parallel to the camshaft axis.

Integrated engine brake configuration
An exhaust valve rocker arm for an exhaust valve rocker arm assembly operable in a combustion engine drive mode and an engine braking mode, and configured to selectively open first and second exhaust valves, includes a body defining an aperture to receive a rocker shaft such that the body is rotatable about the rocker shaft, a bore defined in the body, and a rotating stepped engine brake capsule disposed in the bore and having a castellation mechanism. The rotating stepped engine brake capsule is movable between a locked, engine brake active position and an unlocked, engine brake inactive position.
Lost motion valve actuation systems with locking elements including wedge locking elements
A system for actuating one or more engine valves comprises a lost motion assembly including locking elements to selectively lock and unlock a locking mechanism disposed within a valve train such that motions may be likewise selectively applied to, or prevented from being applied to, one or more engine valves. In an embodiment, the locking elements comprise wedges having at least one wedge inclined surface defined according to a cone frustum and configured to engage an outer recess formed in a housing, the outer recess comprising an outer recess inclined surface also defined according to the cone frustum. The device may comprise a locking mechanism disposed within a housing bore in the housing and a snubber also disposed in the housing bore. Furthermore, the outer recess may be configured to permit movement of the locking element along a longitudinal axis of the housing bore.
Socket module of compression release type engine brake and operating method of engine brake using thereof
A socket module for a compression release engine brake is provided between an exhaust rocker arm rotating with respect to a rocker arm shaft and a valve bridge in contact with an exhaust valve of an engine. In particular, the socket module includes: a housing which includes an inlet through which brake oil is introduced, a brake piston mounting portion, and a reset member mounting portion communicated with the brake piston mounting portion; a brake piston that is provided to be movable in the brake piston mounting portion; and a reset member that is provided in the reset member mounting portion and that discharges brake oil by selectively contacting a push pin coupled to an upper portion of a cylinder head of the engine.
ROCKER ARM AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A rocker arm includes a pair of sidewalk disposed along a heightwise direction so as to be opposed to each other. The sidewalk define a space to house a roller and have opposed portions extending in the heightwise direction relative to adjacent portions which are adjacent to the opposed portions. The opposed portions have thinner portions having smaller thicknesses than the adjacent portions.

SWITCHABLE ROCKER ARM WITH REDUCED COUPLING ASSEMBLY LOADS
A switchable rocker arm for valve deactivation is provided for a valve train of an internal combustion engine. The switchable rocker arm includes a valve side lever assembly, a cam side lever assembly, and a hydraulically actuated coupling assembly. The valve side lever assembly includes a first housing with a first rocker shaft bore. The cam side lever assembly includes a second housing with a first arm with a second rocker shaft bore and a second arm with a third rocker shaft bore. The first and second arms extend along opposed longitudinal sides of the cam side lever assembly such that the first, second and third rocker shaft bores are axially aligned. The coupling assembly is arranged at an end furthest away from a pivot axis for minimal loading and provides locking and unlocking of the switchable rocker arm to achieve full valve lift and no valve lift modes, respectively.
Compression-release engine brake system for lost motion rocker arm assembly and method of operation thereof
A compression-release brake system is provided that includes a lost motion exhaust rocker assembly, an actuation piston, and a reset device. The actuation piston includes an actuation piston body that is slidably received by the rocker arm to define a piston cavity in the rocker arm and is movable between piston retracted and extended positions. The actuation piston is configured to be operatively associated with the exhaust valve to permit unseating of the exhaust valve from the seated state. An actuation piston check valve is configured to move between closed and open positions to permit hydraulic fluid flow through an actuation piston communication port to the piston cavity. The reset device includes a reset check valve and a reset pressure control spring for applying a biasing force to the reset check valve to urge the reset check valve toward an open position.
