APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR RECEIVING DISCHARGED URINE
A system suitable for collecting and transporting urine away from the body of a person or animal may include an assembly having a fluid impermeable casing having a fluid reservoir at a first end, a fluid outlet at a second end, and a longitudinally extending fluid impermeable layer coupled to the fluid reservoir and the fluid outlet and defining a longitudinally elongated opening between the reservoir and the outlet. The assembly can further include a fluid permeable support disposed within the casing with a portion extending across the elongated opening, and a fluid permeable membrane disposed on the support and covering at least the portion of the support that extends across the elongated opening, so that the membrane is supported on the support and disposed across the elongated opening. The assembly can further include a tube having a first end disposed in the reservoir and a second, fluid discharge end.
RELOCATION MODULES AND METHODS FOR SURGICAL FIELD
Examples of a module for housing unrelated electronic and electromechanical equipment for use during surgery. The module can include a lower section and a tower-like upper section. The lower section can house unrelated electronic and electromechanical equipment. The tower-like upper section can be located on top of the lower section. A water-resistant cowling can enclose at least a portion of the lower section and the tower-like upper section. A cartridge containing one or more ultraviolet-C producing lights can be protectively housed within the tower-like upper section. The cartridge containing one or more ultraviolet-C producing lights can be configured to emerge upward from a top of the tower-like upper section to substantially seat itself on the top of the tower-like upper section when activated allowing the ultraviolet-C light to disinfect the patient and staff-contacting upper surfaces of the equipment in the operating room.
Catheter configured for use with negative pressure and system comprising same
An external catheter system can comprise an external catheter comprising an engagement portion that is configured to receive and sealingly engage at least a portion of a penis of a user and an outlet. The system can further comprise a negative pressure source. A conduit can couple the negative pressure source to the external catheter. At least one of the external catheter and the conduit can comprise a portion that, upon application of a negative pressure by the negative pressure source, is configured to collapse to provide a pressure drop between the negative pressure source and the engagement portion of the external catheter.
Urine collection device, system, and method
A urinary collection device includes an outer surface and a generally fluid-permeable core that communicates fluidically with an aspiration tube. The outer surface includes an obverse opening to allow urine to flow into the fluid-permeable core when the device is positioned supralabially. On the reverse may be an actuatable fastener configured to retain the device in a reverse-folded intralabial position. In this manner the device may be placed supralabially or intralabially for urine collection as appropriate. The core may include a first knit fabric layer and a second knit fabric layer joined by a plurality of fibers, the fibers being oriented generally to extend from an obverse to a reverse position to thereby result in flow channels through the core.
KIT AND METHOD INTENDED FOR PROSTATE SURGERY
The present invention describes a method and kit for performing a prostate medical or surgical treatment.
Ureteral and bladder catheters and methods of inducing negative pressure to increase renal perfusion
A ureteral catheter is provided, including a drainage lumen including a proximal portion and a distal portion configured to be positioned in a patient's kidney, renal pelvis, and/or in the ureter adjacent to the renal pelvis, the distal portion including a retention portion for maintaining positioning of the distal portion of the drainage lumen, the retention portion including at least two openings on a sidewall of the retention portion for permitting fluid flow into the drainage lumen wherein a total area of a proximal most opening of the at least two openings is less than a total area of more distal opening(s) nearer to the distal end of the drainage lumen, and wherein when negative pressure is applied through the ureteral catheter, fluid is drawn into the ureteral catheter through the at least two openings.
Ureteral bypass devices and procedures
Ureteral bypass devices and procedures for performing internalized urinary diversions within patients. Such a procedure includes implanting a first catheter and securing a distal end of the first catheter within the renal pelvis or ureter of a patient, implanting a cystostomy catheter through and securing a distal end of the cystostomy catheter within the urinary bladder of the patient, fluidically connecting proximal ends of the first and cystostomy catheters to an adapter, and then subcutaneously implanting a sampling/flushing port and fluidically connecting a proximal end of the sampling/flushing port to the adapter via a third catheter to yield an artificial ureteral bypass device, in which the first and cystostomy catheters are fluidically connected together and fluidically connected to the subcutaneously-placed sampling/flushing port.

BODY FLUID MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS FOR PATIENT CARE
Provided are body fluid management systems for patient care that include, in operable combination, a control system assembly comprising a fluid flow detection and control subassembly, a user data interface, a patient interface assembly comprising a wearable pressure sensor subassembly having a pressure sensor in the path of said body fluid for attaching directly to a patient proximate to an anatomical marker and an orientation sensor to monitor and/or control the pressure and/or flowrate of a body fluid such as cerebrospinal fluid, blood, or urine.
Method of use of external female catheter system with integrated suction regulator
A system and method for automatically removing by suction urine voided by a female. The system includes an integrated external catheter and suction regulator unit. The external catheter is applied at the female's urethra opening to receive urine voided by the female. The suction regulator is connected to a receptacle for collecting the urine and is operative to regulate suction applied to the canister from a hospitals' suction line to a regulated value which is applied the external female catheter, whereupon urine from the external female catheter is carried by the regulated suction through the suction regulator and into the receptacle. The external catheter includes an internal suction tube and an external removable and replaceable liquid permeable cover located on the internal suction tube. The external catheter is malleable so that it can be conformed to the anatomy of the female.
