20220387685 · 2022-12-08 ·

Devices and methods for delivering an antimicrobial composition to a medical device to prevent infection and microbial ingress in medical devices. An embodiment of the device includes a male connector with a distal tip and a recess at the distal tip configured to deliver an antimicrobial composition into solution within a cavity formed by the recess. The surface of the recess includes an antimicrobial composition. In certain implementations, the antimicrobial composition contains chlorhexidine acetate.

Placeholder suitable for medical use

A medical placeholder. The medical placeholder has at least one hollow body which is expandable and which defines an interior space, a gas infeed hose which is connected or connectable in a gas-permeable manner with the interior space of the hollow body, and a gas discharge hose which is connected or connectable in a gas-permeable manner with the interior space of the hollow body. The hollow body consists partly or completely of at least one plastic material which is permeable to oxygen and carbon dioxide. A one-way valve is arranged in the gas infeed hose and a pressure relief valve is arranged in the gas discharge hose. Also disclosed is a method for gas-flushing a surface of a medical placeholder.

Nicotine-Free Formulations, Devices and Methods Thereof for Cessation of Smoking or Nicotine Replacement
20230363439 · 2023-11-16 ·

Formulations of nicotine-free compositions, methods of preparing and using same are disclosed. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to methods of preparing inhalable nicotine-free formulations, and to methods for treating a subject with a nicotine-free formulation for use in smoking cessation or nicotine replacement. Also disclosed is a system for controlling cravings and assisting a smoker in quitting smoking or nicotine use.

MEDICAL PORT PROTECTION ADAPTERS

Medical port protection adapters are described herein. In one aspect, a contamination guard can include a proximal collar adapted and configured to engage with a medical port; an elastomeric medial region coupled to the proximal collar; and a distal collar coupled to the proximal collar by the elastomeric medial region; where the elastomeric medial region is adapted and configured to: bias the distal collar to extend at least partially over a distal end of the port when in an unloaded position; and allow the distal collar to resiliently travel proximally when loaded to permit engagement with the distal end of the medical port.

Dressing with Integrated Securement System for Catheter

Provided herein is an integrated dressing for use with a catheter assembly, including a base defining a perimeter, the base comprising a bottom surface configured to contact skin of a patient, a cover portion attached to the base and configured to cover a site of a catheter insertion, and a stabilizing clip, attached to the base or the cover portion, and configured to releasably couple to a catheter adapter.

Method and apparatus for treating genitourinary problems

Apparatus and methods for treatment of bleeding and/or microbial infection of the genitourinary tract including a catheter and an insertable and removable medicament-delivery sheath for introducing a hemostatic and/or anti-microbial substance or the like. Some embodiments further include a light-delivery sheath and/or light-delivery-and-imaging sheath having a light-propagation channel, and a source of anti-microbial and/or imaging light in one or more wavelength bands, for example UVC light and/or light in the visible violet, blue or green wavelength ranges. Some embodiments include a display for captured images, and/or a motorized sheath-movement device configured to move one or more light-output ports. Some embodiments further include a light-propagation channel built into the catheter itself (such as one or more optical fibers) for the administration of anti-microbial ultraviolet light (and/or other wavelengths of light) light along the catheter and/or at the distal end of the catheter to treat and/or prevent microbial (bacterial and/or fungal) infections.

NON-ADHESIVE IV START KIT
20230372608 · 2023-11-23 ·

The invention is directed to a method of securing a catheter to the body of patient without the use of adhesive materials. The method includes applying an anchor (e.g., non-adhesive tape) to the patient's skin adjacent to the site where the catheter needle will be inserted by a medical practitioner. The catheter needle is then inserted into the patient's vein. In some embodiments, an antimicrobial patch can be applied over the needle at the injection site. A non-adhesive covering is then applied over the system (e.g., the inserted needle, non-adhesive tape, and antimicrobial patch). In this way, the system is maintained in position, the catheter is accessible as needed, and pain is reduced when the system is disassembled.

Antimicrobial Catheter Assemblies and Methods Thereof
20230372592 · 2023-11-23 ·

An antimicrobial catheter assembly can include a non-eluting antimicrobial coating on an internal surface, an external surface, or both the internal surface and the external surface of the catheter assembly. The antimicrobial coating can be a composite of three or more layers including a copper-based layer between an outer corrosion-preventing layer of a corrosion-resistant metal and an inner adhesion promoting layer.

Drug-coated balloon catheters for body lumens

Various embodiments disclosed relate to drug-coated balloon catheters for treating strictures in body lumens and methods of using the same. A drug-coated balloon catheter for delivering a therapeutic agent to a target site of a body lumen stricture includes an elongated balloon having a main diameter. The balloon catheter includes a coating layer overlying an exterior surface of the balloon. The coating layer includes one or more water-soluble additives and an initial drug load of a therapeutic agent.

Burn Treatment Glove
20230381474 · 2023-11-30 ·

A burn treatment glove for alleviating pain resulting from a burn and preventing infection includes a glove comprising a contoured layer constructed of an elastically stretchable, liquid-impermeable material. An elastic tension force in the glove compresses a hand wearing the glove for improved blood flow and reduced swelling. A medicinal liquid coats a portion of the interior surface, which applies to a burn on the skin of the hand when the burn contacts the liquid.
