DRIVE SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED MOTOR VEHICLE
This drive system for a motor vehicle includes a top end and a bottom end that are coupled together, a kinematic drive chain, a compressor, a main lubrication system, that includes a main circuit and a main pump, which supplies at least the bottom end with a main lubricant via the main circuit, and a secondary lubrication system, that includes at least one secondary circuit separated from the main circuit and at least one secondary pump separate from the main pump, the secondary pump supplying the top end and/or the compressor with a secondary lubricant via the secondary circuit. The secondary lubrication system includes at least one secondary actuator mechanically separate from the kinematic drive chain and that drives the secondary pump to supply the top end and/or the compressor with the secondary lubricant.

An additive carrier for a spin-on filter is provided. The additive carrier is positioned at an upstream side of the filter and includes a basket defining an annular body. The annular body includes a concentric opening extending therethrough, a circumferentially extending recess configured to receive and store an additive material and a plurality of flanges extending radially within the recess, the flanges spaced apart in a circumferential direction of the recess to form a plurality of sub-recesses.

METHOD FOR PREVENTING OR REDUCING LOW SPEED PRE-IGNITION WHILE MAINTAINING OR IMPROVING CLEANLINESS
A method for preventing or reducing low speed pre-ignition in an engine lubricated with a lubricating oil while maintaining or improving cleanliness by using as the lubricating oil a formulated oil. The formulated oil has a composition including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component, and at least one boron-containing compound and at least one overbased calcium detergent as minor components. The at least one boron-containing compound includes at least one borated dispersant, or a mixture of a boron-containing compound and a non-borated dispersant. The boron to nitrogen ratio for the at least one boron-containing compound is less than or equal to about 0.3 and the lubricating oil is essentially free of elemental magnesium. The lubricating oils of this disclosure are particularly advantageous as passenger vehicle engine oil (PVEO) products.

LUBRICATING ENGINE OIL FOR IMPROVED WEAR PROTECTION AND FUEL EFFICIENCY
Provided are lubricating engine oils including a lubricating oil base stock as a major component having a base oil viscosity at 100 deg. C. ranging from 4.5 to 7.5 cSt, and a carboxylic functionalized polymer dispersant with aromatic amine functionality, as a minor component, wherein the lubricating engine oils have a cold crank simulator viscosity at 30 deg. C. of less than 8500 mPa.Math.s. The lubricating engine oils may provide improved engine wear protection at equivalent fuel efficiency or improved fuel efficiency at equivalent engine wear protection compared to a lubricating engine oil containing a dispersant as a minor component other than the carboxylic functionalized polymer with aromatic amine functionality. Methods of making the lubricating engine oil are also provided. The lubricating engine oils are useful in internal combustion engines including direct injection, gasoline and diesel engines.
Secondary lubrication system with injectable additive
A lubrication system includes an additive and a delivery system. During normal operational conditions, the lubricating oil circulating in the transmission system is collected and contained in a secondary oil reservoir to retain a quantity of the lubricating oil for use in an oil-out condition. When an oil-out condition is detected, the additive is injected and mixed with the collected lubricating oil in the secondary oil reservoir or dispersed directly into a power transmission gearbox housing to enhance the characteristics of the lubricating oil and increases the operational time period of the power transmission gearbox during an oil-out condition.

A lubrication system includes an additive and a delivery system. An oil management system to reduce and remove the amount of soot, rust or other contaminating particles in oil used in an engine, the oil management system comprising an oil filter assembly including a filter element and an additive cartridge, the additive cartridge configured to provide a means for continuously dispersing a small quantity of additive into the oil; an oxidation prevention means to prevent or diminish oxidation of metal in the oil management system; and an oil condition monitoring sensor to measure various aspects of the oil in the oil management system.
