The teachings herein are related to assemblies, such as oil pan assemblies, including a laminate bottom portion and a nut attached to the laminate bottom portion. The nut may provide a sealable opening to a cavity of the assembly. The laminate bottom portion preferably includes a polymeric layer sandwiched between two metallic layers. The nut preferably is a clinch nut.

An oil tank assembly for a gas turbine engine may include an oil tank having an upper compartment and a lower compartment. A baffle may separate the upper compartment of the oil tank from the lower compartment of the oil tank. A de-aerator may be included, where the de-aerator includes an oil inlet, a de-aerator outlet, and an air vent. The de-aerator may be configured to separate air from oil in an air-oil mixture such that the oil flows through the de-aerator outlet and such that the air flow through the vent. Further, the de-aerator may include a fill port for receiving oil.

Aircraft engine lubrication system and method

A lubrication system for an aircraft engine includes an engine lubricant tank including at least a supply port hydraulically connectable to the aircraft engine, a lubricant makeup port, and an overfill port, an auxiliary lubricant tank, a lubricant makeup conduit hydraulically connecting the auxiliary lubricant tank to the lubricant makeup port. The lubricant makeup conduit includes a pump operable to move lubricant from the auxiliary lubricant tank to the lubricant makeup port, and an overfill conduit hydraulically connecting the overfill port to the auxiliary lubricant tank. A method of operating a lubrication system of an aircraft engine of an aircraft is also disclosed.
