Lubricant health and service determination
A method is disclosed that includes determining a current level of a plurality of lubricant parameters present in a portion of lubricant, comparing the current level of each of the plurality of lubricant parameters to a threshold value corresponding to each of the plurality of lubricant parameters, analyzing a priority of each of the lubricant parameters, and determining a health status of the lubricant in response to the comparing and the analyzing.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH ELECTRIC STARTING SYSTEM
An engine including an engine block having a cylinder defining a front of the engine, a blower housing coupled to the engine block and defining a hot half positioned adjacent the front of the engine and a cool half opposite the hot half, and an electric starter system positioned within the blower housing. The electric starting system includes a starter mount assembly coupled to the blower housing, an electric starter motor retained by the starter mount assembly and positioned in the cool half, and a battery mounted to the blower housing and positioned in the cool half. The battery is electrically coupled to the electric starter motor.
Oil filter with impending and full-bypass indicators
A removable oil filter system includes an oil filter mount, an oil filter element removably connected to the oil filter mount, an impending-bypass indicator connected to the oil filter mount and in fluid communication with an oil in the oil filter system, and a full-bypass indicator in fluid communication with the oil filter mount. The impending-bypass indicator is capable of reporting an impending-bypass condition of the oil filter system. The full-bypass indicator is capable of reporting a full-bypass condition of the oil filter system.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR OPERATING AN AIRCRAFT ENGINE
Methods and systems for operating an aircraft engine. A health parameter for the aircraft engine is monitored by a health evaluation device, the health parameter received from a first instrument. the health parameter is compared, by the health evaluation device, to a predetermined threshold. When the health parameter reaches the predetermined threshold, the health evaluation device wirelessly transmits a fault signal to a controller associated with the aircraft engine to elicit a health response from the controller, the fault signal containing at least two mutually-exclusive fault codes associated with an operating condition of the aircraft engine monitored by a second instrument.

APPARATUS FOR MONITORING AN OIL THERMOSTAT
The invention relates to an apparatus for monitoring an oil thermostat arranged in an oil circuit of an internal combustion engine. The apparatus comprises a sensor unit (4, 14b; 15) which is designed to determine at least one first parameter, by means of which a current setpoint operation of the oil thermostat (10) can be derived, and to determine at least one second parameter, by means of which a current actual operation of the oil thermostat (10) can be derived. The apparatus further comprises an evaluation device (40), which is designed to detect an onset of an error function of the oil thermostat (10) as a function of the first parameter and the second parameter.

OIL SEPARATOR FOR REDUCING RESIDUE DEPOSITS
A pressure sensor includes a pressure sensing-element in fluid communication with a port and an oil separator in the port. The oil separator is configured to reduce an amount of oil-vapor residue that reaches the pressure sensing element by elongating a path of fluid from an opening of the port to the pressure sensing element and by creating additional surface area within the port upon which oil-vapor residue -may be deposited. There is also a cover, which has holes, and that is configured to prevent the oil separator from felling out of the port. The oil separator may include circular discs having cut-out portions. The cut-out portions on adjacent circular discs may he rotated relative to one another about a longitudinal axis of the oil separator. The cut-out portions may have a semi-circular shape.
APPARATUS FOR HEATING LUBRICATING OIL
An apparatus is described for heating oil for an internal-combustion engine. The apparatus includes a heat-exchanger arranged within an oil sump of the internal-combustion engine, which is flowed through or capable of being flowed through by a thermal medium for the purpose of emitting heat to oil in the oil sump. The apparatus further includes a heat-source in fluidic communication with the heat-exchanger, which is designed to heat the thermal medium outside the oil sump and outside the internal-combustion engine.
