When the NSR temperature Tnsr is in a warming-up temperature range equal to or higher than the activation start temperature of the NSR catalyst and lower than the activation completion temperature of the NSR catalyst, a control apparatus according to the present invention controls the quantity of fuel supplied to the NSR catalyst by a fuel supply device such that the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the NSR catalyst while the rich spike process is performed is lower when the NSR temperature Tnsr is lower than a specific temperature Tthr than when the NSR temperature Tnsr is equal to or higher than the specific temperature Tthr.

The present disclosure relates to a gas engine heat pump including: an engine which burns a mixed air of air and fuel; a first charger which compresses the mixed air and supplies to the engine; a first exhaust flow path which is connected to the engine, and through which exhaust gas discharged from the engine flows; and a second charger which is driven by the exhaust gas branched from the first exhaust flow path to a second exhaust flow path, and compresses the exhaust gas discharged from the engine and supplies the compressed exhaust gas to the engine, thereby reducing the emission of nitrogen oxide by recirculating the exhaust gas without additional power consumption.

An exhaust-gas aftertreatment device for an internal combustion engine, for use in a motor vehicle, includes an exhaust tract with at least one exhaust pipe and at least one exhaust-gas aftertreatment element. The exhaust-pipe internal wall and/or the at least one exhaust-gas aftertreatment element have/has a vapor-sorbing material forming at least one exhaust-tract-side sorption element.

An object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst for purifying exhaust gas, in particular, fine composite-metal particles contained therein, and a method for producing the same; the exhaust gas purification catalyst according to the present invention includes fine composite-metal particles containing Rh and Pd, wherein, when the fine composite-metal particles in the exhaust gas purification catalyst are analyzed by STEM-EDX, the average ratio of the amount of Pd with respect to the total amount of Rh and Pd in the fine composite-metal particles is 1.7 atomic % or more and 24.8 atomic % or less.

The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for recovering carbon dioxide (hereinafter also referred to as “CO.sub.2”) contained in a combustion exhaust gas, and more specifically relates to: an apparatus and method for reactively absorbing CO.sub.2 contained in a combustion exhaust gas into an amine compound-containing absorption liquid; an apparatus and method for desorbing CO.sub.2 contained in an amine compound-containing absorption liquid from the amine compound-containing absorption liquid; an apparatus and method for evaporating and separating impurities from the amine compound-containing absorption liquid containing the impurities; an apparatus and method for performing a pretreatment such as desulfurization, dust removal, and cooling on a combustion exhaust gas; and a carbon dioxide-recovering apparatus and method utilizing the above apparatuses and methods.

The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for recovering carbon dioxide (hereinafter also referred to as “CO.sub.2”) contained in a combustion exhaust gas, and more specifically relates to: an apparatus and method for reactively absorbing CO.sub.2 contained in a combustion exhaust gas into an amine compound-containing absorption liquid; an apparatus and method for desorbing CO.sub.2 contained in an amine compound-containing absorption liquid from the amine compound-containing absorption liquid; an apparatus and method for evaporating and separating impurities from the amine compound-containing absorption liquid containing the impurities; an apparatus and method for performing a pretreatment such as desulfurization, dust removal, and cooling on a combustion exhaust gas; and a carbon dioxide-recovering apparatus and method utilizing the above apparatuses and methods.

An exhaust gas treatment system for an internal combustion engine includes an exhaust gas pathway configured to receive exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine, a first treatment element positioned within the exhaust gas pathway, a first injector configured to introduce a first reductant into the exhaust gas pathway upstream of the first treatment element, a second injector configured to introduce a second reductant into the exhaust gas pathway downstream of the first treatment element, a second treatment element positioned within the exhaust gas pathway downstream of the second injector, the second treatment element including a SCR element, and a controller configured to periodically initiate a desulfuring regeneration cycle by increasing a concentration of hydrocarbons in the exhaust gas and increasing the flow of the first reductant through the first injector to oxidize sulfur contamination in the first treatment element at temperatures between 400 and 500 degrees Celsius.

During execution of a first purification process of fluctuating a hydrocarbon concentration in exhaust gas flowing into a first catalyst with an amplitude within a prescribed range at a time interval within a prescribed range, when a switch request to a second purification process of purifying NOx in a second catalyst by adding urea water into the exhaust gas is generated, the switch to the second purification process is prohibited on the condition that a current NOx purification rate (a first purification rate R1) is higher than a purification rate (a second purification rate R2) on the assumption that the second purification process is executed, and an HC poisoning recovery stand-by process of reducing an additive amount of hydrocarbon per once in the first purification process is executed so as to reduce a slip amount of hydrocarbon into the downstream of the first catalyst.

A catalytic converter includes at least one heating element that is configured to disrupt the direction of flow of exhaust gases which contain harmful toxic gases and pollutants and aid in removing and/or reducing said toxic gases and pollutants.

Engine exhaust system for an internal combustion engine, the engine exhaust system comprising an exhaust conduit (14) connected to an engine (30), an exhaust gas return conduit (32,33) such that at least a part of the exhaust gas can be returned to the engine. The exhaust gas return conduit, at least along a part of its length, is formed with at least two flow paths (48,49). The engine exhaust system further comprises a particle filter arranged in each of the at least two flow paths and at least one cold flame vaporizer (11) in which fuel is partially oxidized in preheated air to form a cold flame gas. The at least one cold flame vaporizer is arranged in fluid communication with all the flow paths such that the cold flame gas can flow through the particle filters, whereby the cold flame gas can be used to regenerate the particle filter in at least one of the exhaust flow paths while, simultaneously, exhaust gas can flow through the other exhaust flow path or exhaust flow paths. A method for the cleaning of a particle filter is also provided.
