EXHAUST PLENUM CHAMBER CONSTRUCTIONS INCLUDING THERMAL BARRIER COATINGS FOR OPPOSED-PISTON ENGINES
20200182114 · 2020-06-11 · ·

An exhaust plenum chamber with a thermal barrier coating for an opposed-piston engine reduces heat rejection to coolant, while increasing exhaust temperatures, fuel efficiency, and quicker exhaust after-treatment light-off. The exhaust plenum chamber can include a coating on the inside surface of the chamber. Posts which are structural and provide cooling channels or passageways can be present in the exhaust plenum chamber and coated with the thermal barrier coating material.

TURBOCHARGER FASTENING STRUCTURE

A turbocharger fastening structure may include an exhaust manifold integrated head having two exhaust ports; a fastening unit located on one end portion of a turbocharger to be fastened to the exhaust manifold integrated head; and an intake hole formed on the fastening unit, corresponding to the two exhaust ports of the exhaust manifold integrated head, and having a rib, the intake hole allowing exhaust gas to enter the turbocharger through the exhaust manifold integrated head.

The electric motor module (100) includes an outer casing (1) provided with an air inlet (10) at a front side thereof and an air outlet (11) at a rear side thereof; an electric motor assembly (2) arranged in the outer casing (1), and cooperating with the outer casing (1) to define an air passage in communication with the air inlet (10) and the air outlet (11); and a silencer (3) arranged at the air inlet (10), defining at least one resonant cavity therein, and the at least one resonant cavity having a side wall provided with a throat in communication with the resonant cavity.

EXHAUST SOUND CONTROL SYSTEM FOR VEHICLES
20200116057 · 2020-04-16 ·

An exhaust sound control system for vehicles includes an exhaust valve device that controls the volume of exhaust sound by controlling the amount of exhaust gas flowing through a muffler. In a sporty driving mode, exhaust sound is permitted to be transferred to the interior of the vehicle, and in a silent driving mode, the volume of exhaust sound transferred to the interior the vehicle is minimized. The volume of exhaust sound transferred to the interior of the vehicle is varied depending on the driving mode desired by the driver. Accordingly, the sensorial quality related to sound generated while driving is improved.

Outboard motors having steerable lower gearcase

An outboard motor has a powerhead that causes rotation of a driveshaft, a steering housing located below the powerhead, wherein the driveshaft extends from the powerhead into the steering housing; and a lower gearcase located below the steering housing and supporting a propeller shaft that is coupled to the driveshaft so that rotation of the driveshaft causes rotation of the propeller shaft. The lower gearcase is steerable about a steering axis with respect to the steering housing and powerhead.

METHOD OF PROVIDING A LEAK FREE ACOUSTIC VOLUME FOR A VEHICLE FRAME MEMBER

Stamped aerodynamic deflector for vehicle muffler

A two-piece, stamped muffler having an integrally-attached aerodynamic shield having a flat bottom shape is disclosed. The muffler may be formed with a substantially flat lower surface. The aerodynamically-improved muffler set forth herein is provided as an aerodynamic shield that is incorporated into an extended flange provided in the shell blank, as a deflector that is attached to a muffler lower shell body and the clamshell flange such as by welding, that is separately attached to the clamshell flange only such as by welding, or that is separately attached to the lower shell only, again possibly by welding. For dual stamped mufflers, the shield may be used jointly with an incremental shield separate from, or integrated into, the spare tire well to connect the twin dual muffler shields to achieve vehicle aerodynamic requirements. A muffler having the aerodynamic shield deflects underbody air flow outside of the rear fascia cavity.
