EMISSION SIGNATURE MODIFICATION DEVICE
An emission signature modification device for modifying an acoustic signature of an exhaust gas stream, including an exhaust gas guiding device that guides the exhaust gas stream in the flow direction thereof from an inlet area to an outlet area. An active acoustic emission modification device modifies the acoustic emission of the exhaust gas stream in predetermined operating states. If an actuator system of the active acoustic emission modification device is designed such that in a circumferential direction, the actuator system is surrounded by more than 30% of the guided exhaust gas stream, the actuating system can be protected against harmful influences from the environment by way of the exhaust gas guiding device on the one hand, and on the other hand, the required space signifier can be reduced as compared to a lateral, external arrangement of the actuating system.
Cooling duct
Methods, systems, and vehicles that control the temperature of a device included in the vehicle are presented herein. The temperature of the device is controlled by ventilating the device with drivetrain air, such as transmission cooling air. In some embodiments, the device is at a greater temperature than the drivetrain air, which cools the device. In other embodiments, the device is at a lesser temperature than the drivetrain air, which heats the device. The drivetrain air is provided to the device through an exhaust duct coupled to the vehicle's transmission. The drivetrain exhaust air is preferably circulated by the transmission. The transmission may be a continuously variable transmission. The device may be an oxygen sensor that is coupled to an engine exhaust pipe. The oxygen sensor is thermally coupled to the engine exhaust and the engine exhaust pipe, which are at greater temperatures than the transmission exhaust air.
Dual purpose heating and cooling element for exhaust aftertreatment system
An automotive exhaust aftertreatment system includes a doser. The doser includes a doser body and a valve system that opens to discharge a reagent into exhaust gas. The doser includes a heater to heat the reagent prior to releasing the reagent into the exhaust gas.
Apparatus and method for detecting shortage of cooling water in vehicle
In a urea injection system of a vehicle, to detect the shortage of the cooling water by using an electric water pump (EWP) to cool a dosing injector during the running of the vehicle engine, the apparatus for detecting shortage of the cooling water in the vehicle includes a urea injector that injects urea into an exhaust pipe of the vehicle, a pump that cools the urea injector, and a controller that applies a reference current to the pump, measures a time taken until a revolutions per minute (RPM) of the pump reaches a reference RPM, and detects the shortage of the cooling water in the pump by comparing the measured time and a reference time.
ELECTRICAL CURRENT FEED-THROUGH
A current feed-through for an electrically heatable catalytic converter, wherein the catalytic converter has in the interior thereof at least one electrical conductor, which is electrically contactable by the current feed-through, having a central electrically conductive element, which is guided from the interior of the catalytic converter through the outer housing wall thereof, having an electrical insulation layer, which surrounds the electrically conductive element on its radial outer face, and having a metallic sleeve, in which the electrically conductive element and the electrical insulation layer is received, wherein at the current feed-through or directly adjacently to the current feed-through there is arranged a device for reducing the heat conduction from the interior of the catalytic converter along the current feed-through to a contact face arranged outside the catalytic converter.
CVT COOLING DUCT
Methods, systems, and vehicles that control the temperature of a device included in the vehicle are presented herein. The temperature of the device is controlled by ventilating the device with drivetrain air, such as transmission cooling air. In some embodiments, the device is at a greater temperature than the drivetrain air, which cools the device. In other embodiments, the device is at a lesser temperature than the drivetrain air, which heats the device. The drivetrain air is provided to the device through an exhaust duct coupled to the vehicle’s transmission.
Reagent injector
An injector includes an injector body having an upper portion defining a top surface. An injector core is received through the upper portion. The injector core has an interfacing surface that is disposed adjacent and raised with respect to the top surface. A cover member is disposed on the upper portion of the injector body. The cover member has a top wall for receiving at least a portion of the injector core, a side wall extending from at least a portion of the top wall, and a lip that is adapted to be attached to the other of the side wall or the injector body through a snap-fit connection. Upon attachment of the lip to the other of the side wall or the injector body, the top wall of the cover member presses on the interfacing surface of the injector core to restrict an axial movement of the injector core relative to the injector body along the longitudinal axis.
Exhaust muffler, two-stroke engine or four-stroke engine having an exhaust muffler, and catalytic converter for an exhaust muffler
An exhaust muffler has an exhaust inlet, an exhaust outlet, as well as a catalytic converter which, in the flow direction, is disposed between the exhaust inlet and the exhaust outlet. The catalytic converter has at least one throughflow body which includes at least one wire body. At least one first component region of the throughflow body is coated with a catalytically functioning coating. The throughflow body moreover has a second component region which in terms of volume has a smaller quantity of catalytically functioning coating than the first component region.
EXHAUST GAS CATALYST SYSTEM
An exhaust gas catalyst system for a vehicle, for treating fine dusts of exhaust gases produced by an internal combustion engine group of the vehicle, having an inlet duct and an outlet duct connectable to the internal combustion engine group and to a diesel particulate filter (DPF) system. A hollow main body extends along a main axis (X-X) between a head wall having an inlet opening and an outlet opening, and a bottom wall and defines a gas treatment chamber having a first chamber fluidically connected to the inlet opening and a second chamber fluidically connected to the outlet opening. The first and second chambers are fluidically connected in a region proximal to the bottom wall so exhaust gases flow in the first and second chambers in opposite directions. Exothermic filtration and oxidation operations are carried out on the fine dusts by a catalyst substrate housed in the second chamber.
