Treatment Techniques Using Radiation, Electromagnetic Fields and Small-Scale Injectable Machines
The present invention includes new techniques for radiotherapy and other external electromagnetic influence of treatment subjects. In one aspect of the invention, a plurality of nano-scale or other small-scale machines is introduced to the blood stream (for example, by hypodermic injection). The design of each small-scale machine may include different sub-devices and electrostatic or magnetic charges, at different surface or internal locations. An electromagnetic and/or electrostatic control system the remotely alters the orientation and location of the small-scale machines, and applies the machines, and variably applies different sub-devices to different treatment targets. In some aspects, the sub-devices include actuable protection and sub-devices, to deliver drugs or other factors at specific locations commanded by the control system or a user.
Ventilation machine and method of ventilating a patient
A ventilation machine is disclosed that includes a conduit interface configured to be connected to a respiratory system of a human or animal patient, an air flow generator configured to deliver air through the conduit interface into the respiratory system of the patient, a processing unit in communication with the air flow generator and configured to control the airflow generator to deliver air into the respiratory system of the patient according to a breathing scheme, and an induction device for activating a diaphragm of the patient. The induction device is in communication with the processing unit. The processing unit is configured to control the induction device to activate the diaphragm in coordination with the breathing scheme.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DELIVERY OF THERAPEUTIC AGENTS
An iontophoresis system includes a preloaded reservoir containing one or more doses of a therapeutic agent. As a result, the therapeutic agent does not have to be loaded into the reservoir prior to use. In such a system, the preloaded reservoir is generally disposable. Various components of the iontophoresis system can be combined with the reservoir in a disposable cartridge that is selectively connectable to other, reusable components of the iontophoresis system. In addition, the entire iontophoresis system can be formed from one or more disposable, one-time-use modules.
System for reducing local discomfort
A device for targeted delivery of a substance to an airway may include a conduit and at least two applicators. The conduit may include a proximal end and a bifurcated distal portion having two distal ends. Each applicator may be coupled with one of the distal ends of the conduit and may be configured to direct the substance out of the applicator toward one of two sides of an airway. A method for targeted delivery of a substance to an airway may involve advancing a substance delivery device into the airway, contacting two sides of the airway with at least two applicators of the substance delivery device, such that each applicator contacts the airway near a glossopharyngeal nerve and/or a superior laryngeal nerve on each of the two sides of the airway, and delivering the substance through the applicators to contact the airway along the two sides.
SELECTIVE REMOVAL OF AGE-MODIFIED CELLS FOR TREATMENT OF ATHEROSCLEROSIS
A method of treating atherosclerosis comprises removing AGE-modified cells from a patient. The AGE-modified cells include erythrocytes, intima cells, endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, macrophages, and foam cells. A variety of techniques, such as ultrasound and binding with an anti-AGE antibody, may be used to identify and remove the AGE-modified cells.
Nonjacketing side-entry connectors and prosthetic disorder response systems
Provided is a connector suitable for securely infixing a catheter, electrode, hollow needle, probe, or other styliform device with its tip stabilized within a nontubular anatomical structure. Secure junctions between fluid lines and/or electrodes and tissue are essential for automatic controls and permanent nephrostomies and suprapubic cystostomies, for example, using synthetic materials. These can be made self-contained and fully implanted to treat one chronic condition, or represent but one module controlled as an axis or channel of control in an adaptive ambulatory hierarchical prosthetic disorder response system used to automatically coordinate the treatment of chronic comorbid disease. Such applications require prosthesis-to-native tissue junctions which are secure, immobile, unsusceptible to leaks or microbial intrusion, and require little if any maintenance. Connection for securely and least disruptively merging catheteric and native lumina is described in nonprovisional application Ser. No. 14/121,365, entitled Ductus Side-entry Jackets and Prosthetic Disorder Response Systems, filed on 25 Aug. 2014.
INTELLIGENT BIONIC EXPECTORATION SYSTEM
An intelligent bionic expectoration system and a three-way device thereof. The intelligent bionic expectoration system includes a negative pressure suction module, a central processing module, a patient interface unit and a respiratory muscle synchronous motion module. The central processing module controls two valves to open or close, closing one valve while opening another valve, and controls the respiratory muscle synchronous motion module. The patient interface unit is connected to the positive pressure ventilation module and the negative pressure suction module, allowing positive or negative pressure airflow to flow by, depending on which valve is open, so as to allow airflow to flow in or out of the lung. The respiratory muscle synchronous motion module can employ nerve stimulation and mechanical pushing, and acts synchronously as the airflow moves, thereby simulating human coughing and achieves bionic expectoration.
Device and method for removing protein-bound toxins from the blood of patients using a high-frequency, electromagnetic field and an electrostatic direct current field
A dialysis device including a dialysis circuit, a blood circuit; and a dialyzer. The dialysis device includes a device for generating a high-frequency electromagnetic field and a device for generating an electrostatic direct current field. Both devices are designed and arranged in such a way that blood to be treated can be exposed to the high-frequency electromagnetic field and the electrostatic direct current field when passing through the dialyzer.
