Each exhaust after-treatment block has one or more catalyst substrates. Each catalyst substrate includes a first face, a second face, and a plurality of side faces. The system includes at least one flange member to surround the one or more catalyst substrates about the side faces. The system further includes a locking arrangement including one or more clips on the flange member and a bracket member configured to engage with the one or more clips in the flange members of the adjacent exhaust after-treatment blocks.
AIRCRAFT PROVIDED WITH AN ENGINE AND AN EXHAUST DUCT AROUND AN EXHAUST NOZZLE OF THE ENGINE
An exhaust duct configured to be arranged around an exhaust nozzle of an engine, the exhaust duct having a plurality of sections. The sections are circular between an inlet section and an outlet section, with the exception of the sections of a deformed segment, each section of the deformed segment extending from a bottom sector to a top sector, the bottom sector having a non-circular shape so that at least a volume of liquid that is not able to reach, by force of gravity, the inlet section and the outlet section, is less than a volume threshold when the pitch and roll angles respectively lie within predetermined pitch and roll angle ranges.
Engine
An engine is equipped with an engine body, a turbocharger, an exhaust gas purifier, an exhaust communication pipe. The turbocharger is connected to the engine body. The exhaust gas purifier purifies exhaust gas discharged from the turbocharger. The exhaust communication pipe connects the turbocharger with the exhaust gas purifier. The exhaust communication pipe includes: a first connection member that is connected to the turbocharger, and a second connection member that connects the first connection member with the exhaust gas purifier. A downstream end portion of the first connection member has an inner peripheral face having a cross-section of a circular shape. An upstream end portion of the first connection member has an inner peripheral face having a cross-section of an abnormal-shape that is different from the inner peripheral face of the downstream end portion.
Floating Ducts
A duct interface system and method includes a duct having a first end and a second end; a first receptacle for the first end of the duct and/or a second receptacle for the second end of the duct; and one or more first seals between the first end of the duct and the first receptacle and/or one or more second seals between the second end of the duct and the second receptacle.
MIXER SYSTEM PROXIMATE TO VEHICLE ENGINE
An automotive vehicle includes an exhaust aftertreatment system. The exhaust aftertreatment system includes a mixer, a doser that injects a reducing agent into the mixer, and a selective catalytic reduction unit. The exhaust aftertreatment system mixes exhaust gases and the reducing agent for treatment prior to the exhaust gases being discharged into the atmosphere. Some components of the exhaust aftertreatment system are positioned proximate to an associated combustion engine to minimize thermal energy loss from the exhaust gases prior to interaction with the exhaust aftertreatment system.
CATALYST DEVICE
A catalyst device includes a catalyst support, a tubular portion, which accommodates the catalyst support, a holding mat, which holds the catalyst support, an insulator provided over the outer circumferential surface of the tubular portion, and a heat insulating member arranged between the insulator and the tubular portion. The region of the outer circumferential surface of the tubular portion between the upstream end and the downstream end in the exhaust gas flowing direction is divided into two subregions arranged in a direction of the axis of the tubular portion. Of the two subregions, the subregion on the upstream side is defined as an upstream subregion, and the subregion on the downstream side is defined as a downstream subregion. The area that is covered with the heat insulating member in the downstream subregion is smaller than the area that is covered with the heat insulating member in the upstream subregion.
EXHAUST HEAT RECOVERY UNIT
An exhaust heat recovery unit, includes: a heat exchanger that is provided inside an exhaust pipe through which exhaust gas flows, the heat exchange being formed from silicon carbide, and the heat exchanger performing heat exchange between the exhaust gas and a heat medium; and a retention member that is provided at the periphery of the heat exchanger, is formed of a ceramic sheet or an expandable graphite sheet, and is sandwiched between the exhaust pipe and the heat exchanger, thereby retaining the heat exchanger in the exhaust pipe.
EXHAUST DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An exhaust muffler includes a first muffler section having a tubular member made up of an inner pipe to which an exhaust pipe is connected and an outer pipe covering the inner pipe, and a connector connecting the tubular member and a second muffler section to each other, and the second muffler section having an outer shell, a first partition wall, a second partition wall, and a third partition wall. Exhaust gases delivered from the exhaust pipe are discharged from the first muffler section and the second muffler section out of the exhaust muffler. The second muffler section has a cross-sectional area larger than a cross-sectional area of the tubular member. The exhaust muffler includes a first expansion chamber, a second expansion chamber, and a third expansion chamber. The second muffler section includes a fluid communication pipe extending through the first partition wall and the second partition wall for leading exhaust gases from the first expansion chamber into the second expansion chamber, and an exhaust passage pipe held in fluid communication with the third expansion chamber and extending through the second partition and the third partition wall. The second partition wall has a fluid communication hole defined therein that provides fluid communication between the second expansion chamber and the third expansion chamber. There is thus provided an engine exhaust device capable of increasing a silencing capability by increasing the length of a route through which the exhaust gases flow while maintaining the length of the exhaust device.
Exhaust device of multi-cylinder engine
An exhaust purification device of a multi-cylinder engine which improves exhaust gas purification performance by substantially uniforming a flow rate of exhaust gas throughout a treatment carrier such as a catalyst and improving dispersibility of the exhaust gas from the multi-cylinder engine to the catalyst and other components in the exhaust purification device wherein two collecting pipes are arranged at substantially symmetric positions across a partition plate part, which has a linear cross sectional shape, and is arranged centrally between the pipes which are each formed into D-shaped cross sectional shapes and comprise a first straight line part, a pair of second straight line parts connected with respective ends of a first straight line part and arranged to be substantially parallel with each other, and a circular arc part that connects ends of a pair of second straight line parts on opposite sides of the first straight line part.
