An extracorporeal blood pump assembly includes a blood pump and an extracorporeal membrane oxygenator (ECMO). The blood pump includes a pump housing, a rotor, and a flow converter positioned downstream from the rotor to convert non-axial flow from the rotor to axial flow. The pump housing defines an inlet and an outlet. The ECMO includes a membrane housing and an oxygenator membrane disposed within the membrane housing. The membrane housing is removably connected to the pump housing at one of the pump housing inlet and the pump housing outlet.

PHYSIOLOGICALLY CONFORMABLE TRACHEAL TUBE
20210393906 · 2021-12-23 ·

A tracheal tube include a conformable conduit that forms a respiratory passage to transfer respiratory gases to a patient. A helical inflatable lumen is formed in or on an interior surface of the conformable conduit. Fluid transferred into the helical inflatable lumen causes the inflatable lumen to assume an expanded configuration to expand an outer diameter of the conformable conduit relative to an unexpanded configuration of the helical inflatable lumen. When in the expanded configuration and inserted in a patient, conformable walls of the conformable conduit expand outwards to contact the tracheal walls such that the conformable conduit is self-sizing to a patient's trachea size.

Pain Reducing Anesthetic Cooling Device

The pain reducing anesthetic cooling device of the invention reduces pain and minimizes the anxiety often associated with needle injection procedures in both children and adults. The invention reduces pain by precisely anesthetizing a targeted area in a manner that prevents cooling excessive areas of the skin, targets the injection site with a temporary skin impression as a guide for needle injection placement, and makes it easy for medical staff, home care givers or the patient to use and store the device. Additional features of the invention include removable toys, spinning elements and sound and light features to distract and engage the patient. Additionally, the cooling solution may contain colorants such as dyes and particulate additives such as glitter to increase the visual appeal of the device.

Infusion Pump Apparatus, Method and System

An infusion pump system is disclosed. The infusion pump system includes an infusion pump and a controller device in wireless communication with the infusion pump, wherein the controller including instructions for controlling the infusion pump, wherein the instructions may be synchronized with a secure web portal.

METHOD OF FORMING AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE WITH RETENTION MEDIUM

The method includes first providing a retention medium in a first element; coaxially aligning a plurality of elements, wrapping the coaxially aligned plurality of elements within a wrapper to form a portion of the aerosol-generating article, the plurality of elements including the first element, the aerosol-generating article having a first end and a second end, the second end being upstream from the first end based on an expected direction of airflow through the aerosol-generating article during normal operational use, second providing at least one capsule, the at least one capsule releasably containing a substrate, and inserting the at least one capsule within the first element, the retention medium being configured to retain the substrate after a release of the substrate from the at least one capsule, the retention medium being devoid of the substrate prior to the release of the substrate from the at least one capsule.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLED HYPERTHERMIA
20210379265 · 2021-12-09 ·

Methods and for treatment of cancer and other diseases including complications from late stage viral infections by inducing hyperthermia in a patient relying on withdrawing blood from the patient and returning the withdrawn blood to the patient to establish an extracorporeal flow circuit. Blood is heated by passing through the extracorporeal circuit at a controlled rate until a target body core temperature in is achieved. Usually, the blood will be subjected to a continuously re-circulating dialysis to balance electrolytes. Additionally, the blood will be subjected to a continuously recirculating regeneration through a carbon sorbent column where toxins and contaminants are removed. The blood temperature is maintained at the target blood temperature for a treatment period, and the blood is cooled after the treatment period has been completed. The method can also be effective in treating rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, hepatitis, sepsis, the Epstein-Barr virus, and patients with life threatening complications from other viruses, including the COVID-19 virus. A method for removing viruses from the blood supply in an external circuit is also presented.
