Spark ignited single cylinder engine derate for overheat
An engine includes a single cylinder, at least one sensor, a fuel injector, and a controller. The at least one sensor is configured to generate sensor data for an engine condition. The controller is configured to perform a comparison of the engine condition to a threshold and in response to the comparison, generate a first command to deactivate the fuel injector after a first predetermined time period and a second command to reactivate the fuel injector after a second predetermined time period.
Methods and system for stopping an engine
Systems and methods for stopping an engine of a vehicle are described. In one example, the method anticipates when an engine is expected to stop and modifies engine operation so that less fuel is in the engine's intake ports when the engine is stopped so that the fuel may not escape the engine when the engine is restarted.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING A TRANSIENT POWER ASSIST FEATURE IN A MOTOR VEHICLE
A roadway sweeper vehicle includes one or more processors and a control console allowing the vehicle operator to select one of a plurality of available engine speeds. A power increase assist feature is available through a throttle (e.g., pedal) that provides an increased power output of the vehicle engine for a momentary or transient period of time. The additive engine speed may be calculated based on a detected position of the throttle or determined from a lookup table based on the user-selected engine speed. Related methods are also described.
Engine assembly having a turbocharger
An engine assembly for a vehicle includes an engine and a turbocharger operatively connected thereto. A controller is configured to, based on at least one performance parameter associated with the vehicle, execute a pre-acceleration control sequence including: delaying ignition within the engine's cylinders to increase a temperature of exhaust gas discharged to the turbocharger and reduce a torque of the engine; deactivating at least one cylinder in a predetermined pattern to reduce the torque of the engine; actuating a throttle valve to increase air flow to the engine to (i) increase the torque of the engine, and (ii) increase a volume of exhaust gas discharged to the turbocharger; and increasing a volume of fuel injected by the fuel injectors into the cylinders so as to increase the torque of the engine thereby compensating at least in part reduction of the torque of the engine.
MITIGATING FIRE RISKS IN VEHICLES
Among other things, techniques are described for preventing and mitigating fire risks on a vehicle. For example, multiple sensor inputs are provided to a predictive model which determines fire scenarios. A first fire risk data and second fire risk data are received from the sensors, and data indicative of fire prevention and fire mitigation is received. At least one fire prevention measure applicable to the first imminent fire risk condition and the second imminent fire risk condition is determined. The first fire risk data and the second fire risk data are compared to the fire mitigation thresholds. At least one fire mitigation measure applicable to the first imminent fire risk condition and the second imminent fire risk condition is determined. The at least one fire prevention measure or the at least one fire mitigation measure is activated.
ELECTRIC DRIVE SYSTEM FOR AN ENGINE
A vehicle control system determines that a vehicle is not fully loaded with a payload, determines an upper limit on engine propulsion power for the vehicle that is not fully loaded with the payload, and reduces an engine speed of the vehicle to a determined speed at which a power capability of an engine of the vehicle matches the upper limit on the engine propulsion power of the vehicle.
PUMP UNIT
A pump unit may include a pump configured to increase a pressure of diesel fuel and discharge the diesel fuel to a fuel passage in which a filter is disposed, and a controller configured to control an operation of the pump. The controller may be configured to execute freeze avoidance control in which the operation of the pump is controlled using an index that indicates a degree of clogging of the filter caused by the diesel fuel freezing. In the freeze avoidance control, the controller may be configured to apply a higher load to the pump as the degree of clogging of the filter indicated by the index is higher.
Method for accelerating a vehicle from rest
A method for accelerating a vehicle from rest. The method includes receiving a mode indication indicating a launch control mode selected; receiving a brake-on indication; controlling the engine according to a launch control strategy; determining an accelerator position; for an accelerator position greater than zero, controlling the engine to: increase open a throttle valve and control the engine to limit engine torque output; receiving a brake-off indication; controlling the engine according to the standard control strategy, controlling the engine according to the standard control strategy with the braking system having been released causing the vehicle to accelerate from rest, a first rate of acceleration from rest of the vehicle being greater than a second rate of acceleration from rest of the vehicle for corresponding changes in accelerator position, the first rate corresponding to accelerating from rest after controlling the engine according to the standard and launch control strategies.
CONTROL DEVICE OF VEHICLE
Provided is a control device of a vehicle including an alternator that generates power using a driving force of an internal combustion engine, wherein when the alternator is cold and a request power of an accessory is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, the control device increases the number of revolutions of the internal combustion engine compared with the number of revolutions when the alternator is not cold.
