Engine Cooling Water Temperature Control Method and Control Apparatus
Method of controlling cooling water temperature of an engine in which the lower limit value of engine rotation speed is set according to outside air temperature and vehicle speed. When the vehicle starts traveling, a temperature raising-state lower limit rotation speed is set to raise the cooling water temperature to a third threshold value. After the cooling water temperature is raised to the third threshold value, the lower limit value is not set. If the cooling water temperature drops to a second threshold value, a maintaining-state lower limit rotation speed lower than the temperature raising-state lower limit rotation speed is set to raise the cooling water temperature. If the cooling water temperature does not rise but drops to a first threshold value, a temperature re-raising-state lower limit rotation speed lower than the temperature raising-state lower limit rotation speed and higher than the maintaining-state lower limit rotation speed is set.
ALERTING METHOD FOR PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE OF A HIGH-PRESSURE PUMP IN AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Disclosed is a method of alerting to the state of a high-pressure pump of an engine including a relief valve, a threshold pressure defining the opening pressure of the relief valve, the pump supplying fuel under pressure to a chamber equipped with a pressure sensor, including the following steps: initializing a computer when the engine is cut off during which cut-off a threshold pressure and a value of a first counter are collected in a memory associated with the computer; measuring the pressure of the fuel in the chamber; incrementing the first counter if the pressure of the fuel in the chamber is above or equal to the threshold pressure; and triggering an alert when the value of the first counter crosses a predetermined threshold.
System and method for engine control
A method includes reducing automatically a speed of an engine from a first speed value to a second speed value in response to both the first speed value being at or above a first speed threshold value and a rate of change of one or both of (i) engine power and (ii) the engine speed is substantially zero for a designated period.
Methods for controlling stopping and starting of an engine
A method (300) of controlling an internal combustion engine (3) of a vehicle (1), comprising: receiving at least one input (301) indicative of a current external environment proximal to the vehicle (1); determining (305) in dependence on the at least one input (301) whether a hazard is present; determining a current propulsion demand (303) of the vehicle (1); if it is determined that the current propulsion demand (303) is low, either commanding switching of the internal combustion engine (3) to an off state (307) if it is determined that a hazard is not present, or not commanding switching of the internal combustion engine (3) to the off state if it is determined that a hazard is present; and if it is determined that the current propulsion demand (303) is high, commanding switching of the internal combustion engine (3) to an on state if the internal combustion engine (3) is in the off state.
Enhanced vehicle monitoring
A method for an enhanced vehicle monitoring system that utilizes cameras and other sensors to determine the state of the interior and/or exterior of a vehicle is provided. The method comprises detecting that a driver has exited a vehicle. The method further comprises monitoring a state of the vehicle. The method further comprises determining based, at least in part, on the monitoring, if an object has been left in the vehicle unintentionally or if the vehicle has been left running unattended. The method further comprises, upon determining that the object has been left in the vehicle or the vehicle has been left running unattended, sending a notification to the driver.
FREEZING DIAGNOSING DEVICE AND ENGINE CONTROL APPARATUS
A freezing diagnosing device to be installed in an engine includes an ambient temperature sensor, a liquid temperature sensor, and a freezing determination unit. The ambient temperature sensor detects an ambient temperature. The liquid temperature sensor detects the temperature of a liquid held in the engine. The freezing determination unit determines that a freezing state of a pipe coupled to a pressure sensor in the engine is established when one or both of a first condition and a second condition are satisfied. The first condition is that the ambient temperature detected by the ambient temperature sensor is equal to or less than a first threshold. The second condition is that the temperature of the liquid detected by the liquid temperature sensor is equal to or less than a second threshold.
VARIABLE COMPRESSION RATIO-APPLIED CONTROL SYSTEM USING ADAS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
A variable compression ratio-applied control system using an ADAS and a control method thereof are provided. The system includes a driver assist unit for measuring the distance and the relative speed with a preceding vehicle, and a compression ratio changing unit for changing a compression ratio during traveling, and a neutral control mode for blocking power transfer by a transmission during traveling is implemented, a compression ratio changing unit is operated by using the information acquired through the driver assist unit in a state where the neutral control mode has been implemented, and the compression ratio is changed during inertia traveling during which the neutral control mode has been implemented.
