The invention relates to a method for operating an internal combustion engine including an exhaust gas-driven supercharging device having an electric support drive, including the following steps: providing an operating point specification of the internal combustion engine; ascertaining a maximum admissible recuperation output in a recuperation mode of the electric support drive as a function of the operating point specification; limiting the recuperation output to the maximum admissible recuperation output in the recuperation mode.

CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD FOR VEHICLE, AND MEMORY MEDIUM

A controller for vehicle is provided. A determining section obtains fuel pressure in a delivery pipe and performs a rationality check for determining whether the obtained fuel pressure is within a normal range. The determining section shifts the normal range toward a high pressure side when a second index value of a vehicle outside temperature is higher than a first index value as compared with when the second index value is not higher than the first index value. The second index value is obtained when the determining section is activated. The first index value is stored in a nonvolatile memory before a main switch is turned off so that power supply is stopped.

METHODS AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING ENGINE SPEED

Systems and methods for operating a vehicle that includes an engine and an electric machine are described. In one example, a speed of the engine may be adjusted so that the engine provides power to drive the electric machine without generating numerous rapid engine speed changes in a short amount of time.

A method is described for operating an electric fuel pump constituting a low-pressure pump in a fuel supply system for an internal combustion engine, having a high-pressure reservoir and a high-pressure pump, of a motor vehicle. The electric fuel pump is operated at least temporarily, during a time period during which the internal combustion engine is switched off during operation of the motor vehicle, with a minimum value for a control application variable for the electric fuel pump.

ABNORMALITY DETECTION SYSTEM OF EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM

A learned neural network in weights using at least the four parameters of the engine load, engine speed, intake pressure inside the intake passage downstream of the throttle valve (12), and amount of intake air fed into the engine as input parameters of the neural network and using a target EGR rate as training data is stored. At the time of engine operation, the learned neural network is used to estimate the target EGR rate from the above parameters and abnormality of the exhaust gas recirculation system is detected based on the difference between the estimated value of the target EGR rate and the target EGR rate.

Method for operating an internal combustion engine, and internal combustion engine

A method for operating an internal combustion engine, which includes at least a combustion engine, a fresh gas line and a fuel tank system. The fuel tank system includes a fuel tank, a fuel vapor filter, a purge gas line that connects the fuel vapor filter to the fresh gas line, and a sensor that is suited for determining a degree of hydrocarbon saturation of purge gas contained in the purge gas line. The fuel tank system also has a tank ventilation valve that is integrated in the purge gas line and/or a purge-gas feed device. In response to a control device, a tank ventilation process is initiated, as needed, for which the purge-gas feed device is operated, and/or the tank ventilation valve is opened; for the tank ventilation process, a hydrocarbon content of the purge gas being ascertained using the sensor. A quantity of fuel to be introduced into at least a combustion chamber of the combustion engine is then adjusted as a function of the ascertained hydrocarbon content. The hydrocarbon content is thereby continuously determined during the tank ventilation process and is utilized to actuate the tank ventilation valve and/or the purge-gas feed device.

INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE CONTROL DEVICE

An internal combustion engine control device (1) includes an injector-temperature calculation unit (21a), an engine-temperature calculation unit (21b), an operating-state control unit (21c), a cold/warmed-up state determination unit (21d), an ambient-temperature calculation unit (21e), and a correction unit (21f). The correction unit (21f) corrects an engine temperature calculated based on an injector temperature, when it is determined that an engine is in a cold state and a difference between the injector temperature and an ambient temperature is equal to or larger than a first predetermined value.

Torque-Slewing Diesel Engine Operation

An aircraft diesel engine may be operated at a minimal fuel rate. Shaft output power of the engine may be reduced by initiating combustion during the compression stroke. Combustion may be initiated during the compression stroke by advancing fuel injection, splitting fuel injection, and/or manipulating individual injection quantities. Initiating combustion during the compression stroke may slew torque generation to the compression stroke.
