Solar energy powered Stirling duplex machine with thermal storage tank
A solar energy powered Stirling duplex cooler is presented which includes a Stirling engine and a Stirling cooler. The Stirling engine drives the Stirling cooler to produce cold temperatures for refrigeration or air conditioning. The Stirling duplex cooler includes a solar concentrator to focus high temperature solar radiation upon the Stirling engine expansion space. The Stirling duplex cooler further includes a thermal storage tank to receive and store heat rejected from the cooler expansion space. This stored heat is used to operate the cooler at night. A flywheel connected operatively to engine and cooler expansion space pistons and a crankshaft connected operatively to engine and cooler compression space pistons actuate the pistons to move a working fluid between the expansion and compression spaces.

High Dynamic Density Range Thermal Cycle Engine
An engine utilizing multiple closed loop heat exchangers. The engine makes use of a first exchanger dedicated to a given chamber of a piston assembly. This exchanger is configured to provide both heating and cooling to the chamber for changing the volume thereof in stroking the piston. The second exchanger is configured similarly to provide both heating and cooling to another chamber at the opposite side of the piston for correspondingly facilitating a change in its volume as the piston is stroked. This unique configuration allows for the working substance in the chambers, generally an operating CO.sub.2 fluid, to effectively remain in a supercritical state for the substantial duration of the thermal cycle.
Combined wind and solar power generating system
An integrated wind and solar solution is provided, including a solar energy collection assembly (100) and a vertical axis wind turbine (400), combined to provide an integrated power output. In preferred embodiments, the vertical axis wind turbine is positioned above the solar energy collection assembly. Concentrating solar mirror collectors (116) are used to direct sunlight to a heat engine (250), which converts the collected heat energy into rotary motion. Rotary motion from the heat engine and from the vertical axis wind turbine preferably are on the same rotating axis (600), to facilitate load sharing between these two sources. A dual axis azimuth-altitude solar panel alignment tracking system is used in order to boost the energy conversion capability of the solar energy collectors.
SELECTIVE ABSORBER FOR HARVESTING SOLAR ENERGY
The disclosed embodiments relate to the design of a system that converts sunlight into electricity. During operation, the system concentrates the sunlight onto a front surface of a selective absorber, wherein the selective absorber comprises a semiconductor material having a band gap capable of absorbing most spectral components of the sunlight (such as intrinsic silicon), and wherein the concentrated sunlight causes heat to build up in the selective absorber. Next, the system uses heat obtained from the selective absorber to drive a heat engine, which converts the heat into mechanical energy. Finally, the system converts the mechanical energy into electricity.
Combined power generation system based on geothermal energy and solar energy and power generation method thereof
A combined power generation system based on geothermal energy and solar energy and a power generation method thereof are provided. The system includes: at least three injection wells; at least three production wells; at least three connected paths in a reservoir connected with gas outlets of the at least three injection wells and gas inlets of the at least three production wells; at least three geothermal turbines having gas inlets connected with gas outlets of the at least three production wells; a gas cooler; a first regenerator having a high-pressure gas inlet connected with a gas outlet of the upmost production well; a second regenerator having a high-pressure gas inlet connected with one geothermal turbine; a solar receiver having a gas inlet connected with the second regenerator; and a solar turbine having a gas inlet connected with the solar receiver and a gas outlet connected with the second regenerator.
Radiation thermal absorber based on characteristic absorption spectrum, and stirling engine and operation method thereof
A radiation thermal absorber based on characteristic absorption spectrum, a Stirling engine and an operation method thereof. The radiation thermal absorber allows working gas in the Stirling engine to absorb radiation heat quickly, and help the Stirling engine adopt assistant heating to ensure steady operation when solar power is not enough. The radiation thermal absorber includes a heater base, a radiation energy conversion device, heating tubes, a combustion chamber and valves of the heating tubes. The radiation energy conversion device converts the solar energy into radiation energy near a characteristic absorption peak of the working gas, and the working gas absorbs the radiation directly in depth.
Heat concentrator device for solar power system
A heat concentrator device for a solar power system includes an evacuated hollow body with a bottom, side walls, a top and an airtight cap. Portions of the side walls have inwardly reflective surfaces for concentrating solar radiation into the chamber toward a heat sink, which is positioned in the bottom of the chamber. The heat sink also is hollow and has an inlet port formed in one of its opposite side walls and an outlet port formed in the other for heat transfer fluid to flow into and out of the heat sink. Circuitous passageways form a maze that connects the inlet and outlet ports thus maximizing heat transfer to/from system fluid(s) within the heat sink. The sidewalls of the chamber of the device extend below the heat sink to form a partial vacuum chamber between its bottom and the heat sink. The device is mounted to a reflective dish of a solar power system in a unique way adding additional solar energy collection efficiencies.
