Low pressure fuel and air charge forming device for a combustion engine

In at least some implementations, a throttle body assembly for a combustion engine includes a throttle body having a pressure chamber in which a supply of fuel is received and a throttle bore with an inlet through which air is received, a throttle valve carried by the throttle body with a valve head movable relative to the throttle bore to control fluid flow through the throttle bore, and a metering valve carried by the throttle body. The metering valve may have a valve element that is movable between an open position wherein fuel may flow from the pressure chamber into the throttle bore and a closed position where fuel is prevented or substantially prevented from flowing into the throttle bore through the metering valve.

To secure detection accuracy of a temperature sensor in a general purpose engine. A general purpose engine includes an engine main body (21), an output shaft (22) that outputs a rotation force of the engine main body, a cooling fan (40) that is rotated and driven by the output shaft, a cooling cover (50) that is fixed to the engine main body to define a cooling air passage (CP) which guides cooling air generated by the cooling fan along an exterior wall (21e) of the engine main body, and a temperature sensor (60) that is fixed to the engine main body in a region away from the cooling air passage (CP). Accordingly, it is possible to measure a temperature of the engine main body with high accuracy and perform electronic control of fuel injection with high accuracy.

A direct injection assembly includes a follower mechanism having an input piston operably engaged with a camshaft and moving between first and second input positions along a first follower axis, in response to the camshaft rotating about a camshaft axis. The follower mechanism further includes an output piston movable between first and second output positions along a second follower axis. The follower mechanism further includes a coupler mechanism movable between a deactivated state and an activated state where the coupler mechanism holds the input piston and the output piston in fixed positions relative to one another, such that the coupler mechanism transmits a force from the input piston to the output piston. A pump includes a plunger movable from a first plunger position to a second plunger position where the plunger pressurizes the volume of fuel, in response to the plunger receiving the force from the output piston.

Electronic Fuel Injection Throttle Body Assembly

Present embodiments provide a throttle body which may be used with a variety of engines of different manufacturers. The throttle body may be used to replace mechanical or hydraulically controlled carburetors with electronic fuel injection. The throttle body may provide improved fuel pathways through and about the throttle body in order to move fuel to opposed side. The throttle bodies may have improved configuration of the fuel injectors. Further, the throttle body may have computer mounted on the throttle body and a notch formed in the throttle body to define a wire routing pathway from the computer to the injectors.

EFI throttle body with side fuel injectors

An electronic fuel injection throttle body unit has a core body with two side components. The two side components each including a fuel delivery passage. Four air intake passages extending vertically through the throttle body. Valves are rotatable within the air intake passages. The valves being connected to valve shafts that rotate about respective valve shaft axes. The valve shaft axes and the fuel delivery passages are perpendicular to each other.

In the preferred embodiments an air flow diverting blade is integral to a base that doubles as a collar designed to co-axially attach to the nozzle tip end of a typical port fuel injector for internal combustion engines. Upon simple manual manipulation of the set rotational angle of the typically externally exposed portion of the port fuel injector along its longitudinal axis, as typical modern port injection systems allow after installation, the angle of the intra-port flow diverting blade can be selectively varied to either straighten existing swirl and increase top end flow, or, introduce lateral directional swirl to whatever angle and intensity in either direction is desired. The functional use of a typical port fuel injector is thereby elevated to a multifunction of tunable fuel and air flow control at the point of induction into a combustion chamber without any modification to existing engine designs or their engine management control systems employed therefore. The flow diverting blade can be configured to divert flow around the intake valve stem, guide and guide boss in such a manner to optimize the overall flow dimension of the induction system of a typical internal combustion engine. The flow diverting blade also provides an effective means by which the proximity and angle of fuel injection, relative to the combustion chamber, can be altered and improved as desired. The flow diverting blade also provides an effective means by which a modest increase in effective fuel injector nozzle pressure and fuel vaporization can be realized.
