The first flow path establishes communication between the second vent hole and the fourth vent hole, and the second flow path establishes communication between the fourth vent hole and the fifth vent hole.
MEMS-BASED ACTIVE COOLING SYSTEMS
A cooling system including a heat spreader and a cooling element is described. The heat spreader is thermally coupled with a heat-generating structure. The cooling element is in fluid communication heat spreader. The heat-generating structure is offset from the cooling element. The cooling element undergoes vibrational motion when actuated to drive a fluid toward the heat spreader while not directing the fluid directly at the heat-generating structure.
Valve having a first and second obstruction confining the valve from leaving a confining region
Disclosed are techniques such as roll to roll processing to produce inlet valves for controlling entry of fluid into a compartment of a device. The valve includes a body having a compartment and an inlet into the compartment, with the inlet being bifurcated by a pair of spaced wall portions of the body that form a confining region and which pair of spaced wall portions together with wall portions of the body provide a pair of spaced inlet portions into the compartment and a valve member having a first portion that is position-able within a portion of the compartment, an intermediate portion, and a second portion coupled to the first portion by the intermediate portion, with the second portion position-able within the confining region and with the second portion having an obstruction portion.

Piezoelectric MEMS-based active cooling for heat dissipation in compute devices
An active cooling system and method for using the active cooling system are described. The active cooling system includes a cooling element having a first side and a second side. The first side of the cooling element is distal to a heat-generating structure and in communication with a fluid. The second side of the cooling element is proximal to the heat-generating structure. The cooling element is configured to direct the fluid using a vibrational motion from the first side of the cooling element to the second side such that the fluid moves in a direction that is incident on a surface of the heat-generating structure at a substantially perpendicular angle and then is deflected to move along the surface of the heat-generating structure to extract heat from the heat-generating structure.
HIGH-THROUGHPUT DIAPHRAGM COMPRESSOR
Devices and methods for operating a diaphragm compressor system provide high output pressure and high throughput. In some embodiments, modular diaphragm compressors are stacked with a clamping mechanism pressing the compressor modules together. In embodiments, multiple stacks are provided as stages of a pressurization process. In embodiments, a main stage valve controls one or more pressure circuits for one or more hydraulic actuators of compressor modules. In embodiments, orifices configured for damping are incorporated to control actuator piston movement within a compressor module.
MOBILE PHONE AND OTHER COMPUTE DEVICE COOLING ARCHITECTURE
A system for cooling a mobile phone and method for using the system are described. The system includes an active piezoelectric cooling system, a controller and an interface. The active piezoelectric cooling system is configured to be disposed in a rear portion of the mobile phone distal from a front screen of the mobile phone. The controller is configured to activate the active piezoelectric cooling system in response to heat generated by heat-generating structures of the mobile phone. The interface is configured to receive power from a mobile phone power source when the active piezoelectric cooling system is activated.
PUMP SYSTEM
A vacuum suspension system includes a foot cover having a heel portion and a pump system located in the heel portion. The pump system includes upper and lower sections arranged to move in an axial direction relative to one another and a pump mechanism operatively connected to and positioned between the upper and lower sections. When the heel portion is loaded in stance the pump mechanism moves from an original configuration in which the volume of a fluid chamber defined by the pump mechanism is zero or near-zero, to an expanded configuration in which the volume of the fluid chamber is increased.
