METHODS FOR TRANSCUTANEOUS FACIAL NERVE STIMULATION AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
20230001181 · 2023-01-05 ·

A system, device, and method for transcutaneous nerve stimulation such as facial nerve stimulation, and in particular, to using transcutaneous nerve stimulation for artificially eliciting eye blink, such as with humans with acute facial paralysis (Bell's palsy or Dry Eye syndrome), is disclosed. A battery-operated wearable device may employ a pulse generator for periodically and automatically generating bursts train of asymmetrical Bi-Phasic square pulses. The output pulses are fed to two electrodes that are attached to the skin of the treated person to stimulate the facial nerve for eliciting blinking at a rate that mimics normal blinking operation. The device may include a sensor and a wireless connection, and the parameters of, or the activation of, the generated bursts may be controlled by the sensor output, by human user control, or by data received from the wireless network. Further, the device may transmit status to the wireless network.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING SLEEP APNEA USING NEUROMODULATION
20230001201 · 2023-01-05 ·

Methods and systems for treating sleep apnea using electrical stimulation to a patient's upper and/or lower respiratory nerve or muscle are described. A stimulation regimen can be used to achieve upper airway patency and/or rhythmic air flow in a coordinated fashion during sleep. In some cases, diaphragm activity is monitored to determine whether sufficient upper airway patency and/or rhythmic air flow is achieved and maintained. The stimulation regimen may be adjusted based on the diaphragm activity. In some cases, the system includes modularized components so that the components can be customized to an individual's needs.

According to some aspects, a device is presented herein that is configured to be located underneath an eyelid and worn by a user for treating dry eye. The device includes a first surface configured to face a portion of a sclera of the eye, and a second surface configured to face an eyelid and to be completely covered by the eyelid. In some embodiments, the device further includes a plurality of stimulation electrodes proximal to the first surface, wherein the plurality of stimulation electrodes is configured to stimulate the sclera. The device further includes an energy storage element coupled to the plurality of stimulation electrodes. The energy storage element is configured to supply power to the plurality of stimulation electrodes. The device further includes a processor configured to control a supply of energy from the energy storage element to the plurality of stimulation electrodes to stimulate the sclera.

TREATMENT ASSEMBLY FOR PROVIDING TUMOR TREATING FIELDS TO ANIMAL TEST SUBJECTS

A treatment assembly can have an inner layer having an inner surface and an outer surface and defining a plurality of openings extending therethrough. The treatment assembly can further comprise a plurality of plates, each plate being at least partially received within a respective opening of the plurality of openings of the inner layer. The treatment assembly can further comprise treatment circuitry comprising a cable having a plurality of electrical leads and a plurality of lead ends, each electrical lead being electrically connected to a respective lead end of the plurality of lead ends. A cover layer can be attached to the outer surface of the inner layer and overlie the plurality of lead ends of the cable. The plurality of lead ends can be in contact with respective plates of the plurality of plates to define a plurality of electrodes.
