System and method for lighting protection system inspection
A system and method for performing a task on a LPS of a wind turbine includes a robotic testing device having a plurality of clamping arms and a LPS test probe coupled to a robotic end effector. The robotic testing device can be positioned around an outer perimeter of a rotor blade of the wind turbine. A cable, coupled to an up-tower anchor point, is attached to the robotic testing device and extends between the anchor point and a support surface. A lightning receptor of the LPS is between the up-tower anchor point and the tower support surface. As the cable is displaced, the robotic testing device moves to a position at which it is clamped to the rotor blade, adjacent the lightning receptor. The end effector moves to position the test probe in contact with the lightning receptor to conduct the test on the LPS.
Load sensors in wind turbines
The present disclosure relates to a method for determining reliability of one or more load sensors in a wind turbine. The method comprises measuring loads with the load sensors during operation of the wind turbine; determining in-plane moments based on the measured loads; selecting the in-plane moments with 1 p frequency; and comparing the selected in-plane moments with theoretical in-plane moments due to a mass of the blade. The method then comprises determining that the load sensors have reduced reliability if the selected in-plane moments deviate from the theoretical in-plane moments by more than a first threshold value. The present disclosure also relates to wind turbine systems incorporating load sensors and methods for on-line determination of correct functioning of load sensors mounted on a wind turbine blade.
Thermally controlled utility pump and methods relating to same
A multi-outlet fluid pump includes a housing, a motorized pump, an electrical power supply, and a self-locking thermal cutoff. In one form, the pump includes a first or primary thermal cutoff and a second or secondary thermal cutoff to prevent the pump from operating once a thermal cutoff has deactivated the pump until a user or operator has taken some affirmative action. Related methods are also disclosed herein. In some forms an indicator is provided to indicate if the thermal cutoff has disabled the pump to alert a user as to the need to unplug or reset the pump before operating the pump again.
Method for testing a rotor blade component of a rotor blade for a wind power installation, and rotor blade component
A method for testing a rotor blade component of a rotor blade for a wind power installation, comprising: dividing a rotor blade component of a rotor blade for a wind power installation into two, three or more rotor blade component segments, forming cutouts in a connection interface at a connection end of one of the rotor blade component segments. A rotor blade component segment of a rotor blade for a wind power installation, the rotor blade component segment comprising a connection end which has been formed by dividing a rotor blade component of a rotor blade for a wind power installation into two, three or more rotor blade component segments, a connection interface at the connection end of the rotor blade component segment, and cutouts which are formed in the connection interface and serve for connection of the rotor blade component segment to a test stand.

The large-scale model testing system comprises a floating wind power generation device model, model response measurement systems and environmental parameter measurement systems. The floating wind power generation device model comprises a floating foundation and a tower, wherein a wind turbine is connected to the top of the tower. A plurality of anchoring devices is connected to the side surface of the floating foundation. Each model response measurement system comprises an IMU unit, a wind turbine monitoring unit and an anchoring tension measurement unit. Each environmental parameter measurement system comprises a buoy-type wave height meter, a wind speed and direction meter and a flow velocity and direction meter.
System and method for autonomous service operation validation
The present approach relates to an automated approach for verifying sufficiency of and/or quality of a service operation performed on an asset by a field engineer. In one implementation the approach employs autonomous tests and/or compares performance of the serviced asset with that of comparable peers operating in similar or co-local environments.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING THE CONDITION OF A YAW SYSTEM
A first aspect of the invention provides a method of monitoring the condition of a yaw system of a wind turbine, the wind turbine comprising a rotor, the yaw system arranged to control a yaw rotation of the rotor, the method comprising: providing design data 5 representing an expected relationship between yaw moment and yaw rotation speed; measuring a pair of parameters, the pair of parameters comprising a yaw moment parameter indicative of a yaw moment applied to the yaw system, and a yaw rotation speed parameter indicative of a yaw rotation speed caused by the yaw moment; using the design data to evaluate whether the pair of parameters deviates from the expected 10 relationship; and determining a condition of the yaw system on the basis of the evaluation.
Performance monitoring of a multi-rotor wind turbine system
The invention relates to a method for monitoring performance of a multi-rotor wind turbine. According to the method parameter for each of the wind turbine modules of the multi-rotor wind turbine is obtained. The parameters of each of the wind turbine modules are compared, e.g. by means of a comparison parameter determined from the individual parameters. Dependent on the result of the comparison, a performance action is initiated, e.g. for the purpose of further characterization or verification of a deviating parameter determined via the comparison.
METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING A BLADE MALPOSITION OF A ROTOR BLADE OF A WIND POWER INSTALLATION
Provided is a method for identifying a blade malposition of a rotor blade of a wind power installation having one rotor and at least three rotor blades which in terms of the blade angles thereof are individually adjustable. For each rotor blade an actual angle is detected as the actual value of the blade angle; and the blade malposition is identified as a function of a blade angle deviation of the rotor blade and a rotational progress of the rotor. The blade angle deviation describes a deviation of the actual angle from a reference angle, and the rotational progress is representative of an angle about which the rotor has rotated onward after a start criterion. Blade malpositions in rotor blades which in terms of the blade angles thereof are individually adjustable are identified rapidly and reliably.
METHOD AND TESTING DEVICE FOR TESTING ROTOR BLADES
A method for testing a rotor blade of a wind turbine may include predefining a setpoint bending moment distribution. At least two active load-introducing means may be provided which each engage on a load frame. A first of the at least two active load-introducing means may be configured for introducing load in a pivot direction of the rotor blade and a second of the at least two active load-introducing means may be configured for introducing load in an impact direction of the rotor blade. Also provided is at least one passive load-introducing means. A cyclic introduction of load is effected by the at least two active load-introducing means, where a load introduction frequency of the first active load-introducing means and a load introduction frequency of the second active load-introducing means are selected such that the ratio thereof is rational. A testing device for carrying out the method is also provided.
