Radiotherapy Applicator with Perpendicular or Angled Radial Dispensing

A device for implanting radiotherapy seeds in a tumor. The device includes a delivery tube having a distal end designed to enter the tumor, and defining an internal channel and an elongate applicator carrying one or more radiotherapy seeds each having a length of at least 1 millimeter, the applicator passing through the internal channel of the delivery tube. When a distal end of the elongate applicator is near a distal end of the delivery tube, it assumes an angle relative to an axis of the delivery tube, such that seeds ejected from the elongate applicator enter the tumor at an angle relative to the axis of the delivery tube.

Intraoperative radiation therapy system and method for intraoperative radiation therapy

A method for planning a scan path for intraoperative radiation therapy may comprise acquiring a plurality of images of a region of interest through an auxiliary scanning component, establishing a 3D model of the region of interest based on the plurality of images of the region of interest, determining a radiation therapy volume based on the 3D model of the region of interest, and planning a scan path for a radiation therapy component to scan the radiation therapy volume.

Diffusing alpha-emitter radiation therapy for squamous cell carcinoma

A method for treating a tumor, comprising identifying a tumor as a squamous cell carcinoma and implanting in the tumor identified as a squamous cell carcinoma tumor, as least one diffusing alpha-emitter radiation therapy (DaRT) source with a suitable radon release rate and for a given duration, such that the source provides during the given duration a cumulated activity of released radon between 3.5 Mega becquerel (MBq) hour and 8 MBq hour, per centimeter length.

Methods of Treating and Preventing Cancer with Alternating Electric Fields, Radioactive Particles, and Systemic Therapy

Methods of treating and preventing cancer are provided. In some instances, the method comprises delivering radioactive particles to an organ of the subject, wherein the organ contains a tumor, applying alternating electric fields to the organ at a frequency of 50 kHz to 10 MHz (e.g., 50 kHz to 1 MHz or 80 to 500 kHz), and administering systemic cancer therapy to the subject.

Internal dose tomography

Parameterized model reconstruction is used for internal dose tomography. The parameterized model, solved for within the reconstruction, models the dose level and may account for diffusion, isotope half-life, and/or biological half-life. Using the detected emissions from different scans (e.g., from different scan sessions in a given cycle) as input for the one reconstruction, the parameterized model reconstruction determines the biodistribution of dose at any time.

Locator for placement of fiducial support device method

A locator for the placement of a fiducial support device for brachytherapy may be used to perform a brachytherapy treatment in which one or more radioactive seeds are implanted into a treatment region of a patient.

Interventional guidance system with integrated tracking setup

A system with integrated tracking includes a procedure-specific hardware component (112 or 116) disposed at or near a region of interest. A field generator (114) is configured to generate a field with a field of view covering the region of interest. A mounting device (115) is connected to the field generator and is coupled to the procedure-specific hardware. The field generator is fixedly positioned by the mounting device to permit workflow access to the region of interest without interfering with the field generator and to provide a known position of the field generator relative to the region of interest. A tracking device (110) is configured to be inserted in or near the region of interest to be tracked within the field of view of the field generator to generate tracking data.

Methods of isolating radioactive mercury and uses thereof

Provided herein are methods of isolating and using radioactive mercury. In particular, provided herein are methods of isolating radioactive mercury including the use of a thiacrown ether, and using the isolated radioactive mercury in therapeutic and/or imaging applications.

Multifunctional nanoparticle compositions and uses thereof

Disclosed herein are multifunctional nanoparticle compositions. The compositions can be useful for the treatment of cancer by enhancing the anti-tumor effectiveness of radiation directed to a tissue, cell or a tumor and the methods of use thereof. The multifunctional nanoparticle composition comprises a metal oxide nanoparticle core; a functional coating on the surface of the metal oxide nanoparticle core; and a matrix carrier in which the coated nanoparticle is embedded.
