High efficiency centrifugal impeller with balancing weights
A balancing weight mountable within a balance hole of a rotary component includes a cylindrical body having a desired weight. An opening is formed in a portion of the body to define a hollow passageway and a mechanism couples the cylindrical body within an interior of the balance hole.
VIBRATION ISOLATION HOLDING DEVICE
A vibration isolation holding device includes a body portion and an abutment member. The abutment member is arranged between the body portion and a bearing housing, and has an abutment surface abutting on the bearing housing, when a cartridge is held. A biasing member is disposed between the abutment member and the body portion. An interval between the body portion and the abutment member is regulated by a first regulating portion to be shorter than a natural length of the biasing member.
Aircraft hybrid propulsion fan drive gear system DC motors and generators
An aircraft propulsion system is disclosed and includes a first gas turbine engine including a first input shaft driving a first gear system, a first fan driven by the first gear system, a first generator supported on the first input shaft and a fan drive electric motor providing a drive input to the first fan, a second gas turbine engine including a second input shaft driving a second gear system, a second fan driven by the second gear system, a second generator supported on the second input shaft and a second fan drive electric motor providing a drive input to the second fan and a controller controlling power output from each of the first and second generators and directing the power output between each of the first and second fan drive electric motors.
Turbine Wheel
A turbine wheel is provided with a groove having a bottom surface and a pair of side wall surfaces. The turbine wheel includes: a balance weight that is arranged in the groove, is insertable from any circumferential position of the opening of the groove, and has a through-hole opened toward one of the pair of side wall surfaces; and a retaining member that contacts the one of the pair of side wall surfaces in a state of being inserted in the through-hole of the balance weight, to thereby cause the balance weight to abut against the other one of the pair of side wall surfaces and be retained in the groove. The groove has engagement recesses provided at intervals in a circumferential direction at the bottom surface or an engagement protrusion fitted to one of fitting recesses provided at intervals in the circumferential direction at the bottom surface and protruding from the bottom surface. The balance weight has an engagement protrusion or an engagement groove that engages with one of the engagement recesses or the engagement protrusion of the groove, to thereby restrict a circumferential shift of the balance weight in the groove.
GAS TURBINE ENGINE WITH VARIABLE SPEED OUTPUT
The gas turbine engine for an aircraft includes at least a low pressure spool with a low pressure turbine shaft operatively connected to at least one turbine, the low pressure turbine shaft rotatable about an engine axis, and a low pressure compressor operatively connected to a low pressure compressor shaft that is independently rotatable relative to the low pressure turbine shaft. A differential gearbox has an input operatively connected to the low pressure turbine shaft, a first output and a second output, the first output of the differential gearbox operatively connected to the low pressure compressor shaft and the second output of the differential gearbox operatively connected to an output shaft of the gas turbine engine. The differential gearbox permits the output shaft, the low pressure compressor shaft and the low pressure turbine shaft to rotate at different speeds.
Flanged integral piston bearing
A method of operating a gas turbine engine of a multi-engine aircraft is disclosed, where the gas turbine engine has an engine shaft mounted for rotation in a bearing of a bearing assembly. The method comprises limiting motive power supplied to the aircraft by the gas turbine engine by operating the gas turbine engine in a standby mode; and when the gas turbine engine is operating in the standby mode, using an oil piston integrated in the bearing supporting the engine shaft of the gas turbine engine to generate an axial preload force on the bearing.
Centrifugal impeller for a turbine engine
A centrifugal impeller having an axis of rotation extending from front to rear, and including a body extending around the axis of rotation, the body having a front portion and a rear portion of larger section than the front portion, the impeller also have blades projecting from a front face of the body, the body presenting a setback in its front face between two consecutive blades, which setback is situated at a circumferential distance from the two blades.
Control of fuel flow for power generation based on DC link level
A power generating unit, control unit and modular power generating system. A power generating unit includes an engine-generator set including an engine that produces mechanical power and a generator mechanically coupled to the engine. The generator converts the mechanical power to electrical power provided to a DC link. The control unit includes at least one controller configured to control fuel flow to the engine based on a voltage of the DC link.
Rotor blade arrangement
The blades for a rotor of a gas turbine engine are all manufactured to the same design. However, manufacturing tolerances mean that in practice each individual blade is different to the others. It is proposed to arrange the blades around the circumference of the rotor in a manner that limits excessive stress being induced in the blades due to differences in the vibration response between a given blade and its two neighbouring blades.
Turbine rotor assembly having a retaining collar for a bayonet mount
A retaining collar is disclosed for a bayonet mount comprising a rotor disc having a male mounting member defining a pair of apertures and an auxiliary annular wheel defining a plurality of mounting slots. The retaining collar comprises a ring-shaped body and a pair of retention pins. The ring-shaped body has a pair of circumferential end portions separated by a circumferential gap, and an arcuate radial outer surface extending circumferentially between the end portions. The body is dimensioned so that the radial outer surface frictionally engages a radial inner surface of a cylindrical male mounting member in the bayonet mount. The pair of retention pins each extend radially outward from one of the circumferential end portions. Each of the retention pins are dimensioned to extend radially outward from the body through one of said apertures and one of said mounting slots.
