METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR SECURING AN ARTICLE

A carrier apparatus including a base including an outer peripheral surface and an inner support surface, a frame to connect to the outer peripheral surface of the base, and a circumferential flange including an outer circumferential portion and an inner circumferential portion. The outer circumferential portion to be clamped between the frame and the outer peripheral surface of the base, and the inner circumferential portion to extend inward from the frame. The inner circumferential portion including an opening to be spaced a distance from the inner support surface of the base. The carrier apparatus may include an article including a first major surface, a second major surface, a thickness between the first major surface and the second major surface, and an edge extending across the thickness between the first major surface and the second major surface. Methods of processing and assembling the carrier apparatus may also be provided.

Method for connecting a ball to a first component in a positively locking manner

A method is provided for connecting a ball to a first component having the following steps: providing a first component which has a through-hole; providing a ball and inserting the ball into the through-hole such that the ball protrudes out of the first component at opposite sides of the first component; placing a first pressing tool on the ball from a first side of the first component and placing a second pressing tool on the ball from a second side of the first component; plastically deforming the ball by pressing together the pressing tools, wherein material of the ball flows both on the first side as well as on the second side of the first component, such that material of the ball covers an edge of the through-hole on the first side and on the second side of the first component, whereby a formfitting connection is produced between the ball and the first component.

LOCKING DEVICE

Disclosed is a locking device, comprising an outer sleeve (1) and at least one locking unit (2) located in the outer sleeve (1), wherein the locking unit (2) is formed by connecting a plurality of pressing blocks (3), a gap (5) is provided between two adjacent ones of pressing blocks (3), a rod locking hole (6) is provided in the gap (5), and a set screw hole (7) is provided on the outer sleeve (1) at a position corresponding to the locking unit (2); and when a set screw is screwed into the set screw hole (7) to directly or indirectly press the locking unit (2), the locking unit (2) deforms and drives the pressing blocks (3) to tightly press rods (8, 9) mounted in the respective rod locking holes (6) at the same time.

METHOD FOR JOINING MEMBERS, AND JOINT BODY

A method for joining members includes: providing a wall surface body which is a die-molded article provided with a hole portion with a draft angle provided from its opposite end portions toward its center portion, a tubular body with a hollow shape, and an elastic body; inserting the tubular body into the hole portion in the wall surface body; inserting the elastic body into the inside of the tubular body; and compressing the elastic body in the direction of an axial line L of the tubular body to expand the elastic body outwardly in the radial direction of the axial line L, thereby deforming and expanding the tubular body to joint the tubular body to the wall surface body by press-fitting.

Insert alignment and installation devices and methods

A method and device for sealing holes in blocks such as hydraulic manifolds, engine blocks and the like is provided and includes a sheet with a plurality of holes therein, each hole is designed to receive an insert of a particular size and each hole corresponds to an installation hole in a block or manifold such that when the sheet is aligned with the block/manifold, the insert can be pressed into the installation hole and expanded against the wall of the installation hole. The sheet provides protection against damage of the block during installation of the inserts therein, which may be accomplished with a pneumatic hammer.
