Fastener sealing material and method
A fastener sealing material for application to fasteners is formulated from an acrylate present in a concentration of about 90 to about 97 percent by weight of the sealing material and a nanostructured material present in a concentration of about 3 to about 10 percent by weight of the sealing material. The sealant is applied to the fastener as a liquid and is cured using an ultraviolet or LED light source and without the use of heat.
PRESS-IN NUT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PRESS-IN NUT AND PRESS-IN CONNECTION
A press-in nut is formed as a cap nut and has a nut body with a through hole, which is closed by a cap under formation of a blind hole. This is provided to obtain a media-tight connection with the nut body. The nut body has a ring collar at the top. In a pre-assembled state, the ring collar is only at least partially bent over, so that the cap is only held captively, without a media-tight connection being formed. The desired media-tight connection is only formed when press-fitting into a component.
Self-sealing roof fastener
A self-sealing fastener for installation of roofing materials for creating a substantially watertight seal around fastener penetrations where roofing materials or panels are affixed to an underlying roof deck by the fasteners. Also disclosed is a method for installing the self-sealing fastener for attachment of roofing materials to an underlying roof deck with the penetrations areas or holes created by the fasteners being substantially sealed against water penetration.
SEALANT ARTICLES AND METHOD OF APPLYING SEALANT
A method of making an assembly is disclosed. According to the method, a curable sealant is applied to a metal surface of a first article, and the curable sealant and first article are stored under conditions to maintain the curable sealant in an at least partially uncured state. The method further includes contacting the curable sealant on the first article metal surface with an electrically conductive surface of a second article, and curing the curable sealant.
WATERPROOF NAIL AND SCREW WITH ENLARGED HEAD AND PROTECTIVE GASKET
An integral nail/disk structure that eliminates the need of having any exposed nails associated with a shingled roof having a color matching body member integrally formed with a roofing nail. Another embodiment including a fastener such as a nail or screw having an enlarged head and an associated gasket member for fastening sheet metal to a roof structure. The gasket member has a sealant on both of its top and bottom surfaces so as to adhere both to the underside of the enlarged head portion of the nail or screw, and to the sheet metal to create a waterproof seal. Still another embodiment includes an enlarged cap member associated with a gasket member attached to its underside portion wherein the cap/gasket member can be attached over a fastener hole in a roof, or over a faulty roofing nail or screw in lieu of caulking techniques usually used to cure leaks where the faulty fastener attaches sheet metal to a roofing structure.
Clip nut
A clip nut, including a clip. The clip has a first retaining device, a second retaining device, and a connecting device, which connects the first retaining device to the second retaining device. The distance between the retaining devices is variable. The extension of the first and second retaining devices substantially define an x axis and the extension of the connecting device substantially defines a z axis. A y axis is perpendicular to the x axis and the z axis. The clip nut also includes a nut, which is arranged on the second retaining device such that an axis of the nut is aligned parallel to the z axis and/or perpendicular to the x axis. The axis of the nut is pivotable from the position of the axis of the nut parallel to the z axis and/or perpendicular to the x axis about the axis in an xz plane such that the parallelism of the axis of the nut with respect to the z axis and/or the perpendicular position of the axis of the nut with respect to the x axis is abandoned. A seal facing the first retaining device is provided on the nut, and a component, to which the clip nut is fastened, directly contacts the first retaining device and the seal.
EME cap for preventing uncured sealant squeeze out
A containment apparatus for enclosing a metallic fastener extending through a structure includes a cap member. The cap member includes a first wall member which defines a first cavity and a first end. The first end defines a first opening providing access into the first cavity for at least a portion of the metallic fastener. The cap member further includes a second wall member secured to and extends from an exterior surface of the first wall member. The second wall member extends spaced apart from and along the first wall member to a first end. The second wall member surrounds the first wall member such that first wall member and second wall member form a second cavity positioned between the first wall member and the second wall member. The first end of the first wall member and the first end of the second wall member are coplanar with one another.
Apparatuses and methods for seal cap installation
One example of the present disclosure relates to a form for supporting a volume of a viscous substance encapsulating at least a portion of an object while the viscous substance solidifies to form a seal. The form comprises a non-metallic solidified material; a distal axial opening; a proximal axial opening; and a lateral wall between the distal axial opening and the proximal axial opening. The lateral wall comprises an outwardly facing surface having a surface area, and at least one through lateral opening.
Cap to accommodate washers
A joint is disclosed having a structure, a fastener passing through the structure with an end of the fastener protruding from the structure, and a cap installed on the end of the fastener. The end of the fastener includes an axially extending shaft, a fastener head carried by the shaft, and one or more washers located between the fastener head and the structure, the one or more washers spacing the fastener head and the structure apart by a distance. The cap has a cap body with a cavity which encloses the end of the fastener, and the joint further comprises a cured sealing material which seals the cavity. One of the fastener head and the cap body is formed with two or more first locking features which are axially spaced apart by a pitch.
Fastener and methods of manufacturing and use
The present disclosure provides a fastener. The fastener includes an elongated body having a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The fastener also includes a head having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The first end of the elongated body is coupled to the second surface of the head, and a diameter of the head is greater than a diameter of the elongated body. The fastener also includes a sleeve positioned over at least a portion of the elongated body and the second surface of the head. The fastener also includes a plurality of textured elements positioned on an exterior surface of the sleeve adjacent the second surface of the head. One or more of the plurality of textured elements extend from the exterior surface of the sleeve to the first surface of the head.
