Protection system for a threaded fastener and a method for installation, inspection and maintenance of such protection system
A protection system for a threaded fastener is provided. The system includes a threaded fastener, a sleeve and either two end caps, or one end cap and one threaded hole in a component. To avoid exposure to severely corrosive environments the sleeve and either the two end caps, or the one end cap and the one threaded hole, together form an enclosure around the threaded fastener. The enclosure forms a cavity which is completely sealed from the environment. Furthermore, methods are described for mounting, inspection and maintenance of such protection system.
Fastener system which provides temporary mounting of usable foriegn objects to a device or structure
Mounting items such as Downrigger and functionable frames to boat transoms as well as other objects has been accomplished in the past with full permanent mounts. These mounts detract from the aesthetics of the boat or other vehicle as well as take up physical space on a gunnel which is often used by guest. The fastener proposed for this allows the temporary mounting of different items with the permanent mounting of the fastener. This fastener is also corrosion proof and strong as to support the different functions it could encounter.
Articles having thermoset coatings and coating methods
A method to prevent corrosion of a susceptible article of a two-article system, in which first and second articles of the two-article system have surfaces facing one another and in which the two articles have different anodic indices includes applying a coating material to the surface of the first article and curing the coating material on the surface of the first article. The method further includes contacting and securing the surface of the first article with the surface of the second article. The two articles exhibit substantially no corrosion following exposure to a corrosive environment under standard GMW17026 for a 15 year simulated test.
FASTENER ASSEMBLY, WIND TURBINE HUB ASSEMBLY AND RELATED METHODS
The present disclosure relates to fastener assemblies (400) for a wind turbine blade (22) to rotor hub (20) connection, wherein the fastener assembly (400) comprises a fastener (401) and one or more sleeves (410) configured to absorb the ingress of liquid into a blade root insert (220). The present disclosure also relates to wind turbine hub assemblies (1000) and associated methods (700).
Method and apparatus for applying a corrosion-resistant coating to fasteners
A method of applying a corrosion-resistant coating to a fastener that includes preheating an area of the fastener to be coated to elevate a temperature of the area and spraying the preheated area of the fastener with a molten or semi-molten metal. In one embodiment, a corrosion-resistant coating applicator includes a support structure, a rotatable slotted fastener conveyer supported by the support structure, a feeder configured to feed fasteners to the rotatable slotted fastener conveyer, a fastener aligner configured to make head portions of the fasteners aligned with each other, a heater configured to heat head portions of the fasteners as the fasteners are being conveyed by the slotted fastener conveyer, and a sprayer configured to apply a corrosion-resistant coating to the heated head portions of the fasteners being conveyed by the slotted fastener conveyer. The present disclosure also provides corrosion-resistant coated fasteners made using the coating methods and/or coating apparatus.
ANTICORROSION STRUCTURE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
An anticorrosion structure includes at least one of a metal bolt and a metal nut, and an anticorrosion member coating a portion, protruding beyond a connection surface, of a connecting part using at least one of the bolt and the nut, the anticorrosion member being formed of a silicone rubber obtained by curing a silicone rubber compound.
Fastening assembly
A fastening assembly includes a panel defining an aperture, a fastener having a head, a shaft portion extending from the head, and a recess formed in the head, and a sacrificial primary anode insert disposed in the recess. The sacrificial primary anode insert is configured to corrode at a rate faster than a corrosion rate of the fastener.
Captive bolt assembly for utility boxes
A durable captive bolt assembly for use with subterranean utility boxes is described. The disclosed bolt assembly includes a fastener, a conical spring, a rigid washer, a deformable washer, and a bushing. The point and threads of the fastener are designed to clear debris from an internally threaded nut and reduce or eliminate cross threading, galling, and electrolysis.
Rust proofing treatment liquid for threaded part, method for producing rust-proofed threaded part, and rust-proofed threaded part
Threaded parts such as bolts are rust-proofed by using a treatment liquid including a binder resin containing silica and at least one of a modified epoxy resin obtained by graft polymerization using a carboxylic acid-containing acrylic polymer as a side chain and a modified acrylic resin obtained by graft polymerization using a carboxylic acid-containing acrylic polymer as a side chain. By using this treatment liquid, coating treatment can be carried out at one time without need to use an organic solvent. There is an advantage that the friction coefficient does not increase even when tightening is repeated.
Aircraft assembly
An aircraft assembly having a titanium rod comprising a first threaded portion, and a titanium nut comprising a second threaded portion conforming with the first threaded portion for mating engagement with it. One of the first and second threaded portions defines a male thread and the other one of the first and second threaded portions defines a female thread such that the nut can be wound in threading engagement along the rod. A threaded insert formed from a first metal of different hardness in comparison to titanium is coupled to the rod or the nut to define the first threaded portion or the second threaded portion respectively such that one of the first and second threaded portions is formed from titanium and the other one of the first and second threaded portions is formed from the first metal.
