Clutch configurations for a multiple motor mixed-speed continuous power transmission
An electric powertrain includes a first electric motor that has an uninterrupted connection with a drive shaft of a vehicle. The electric powertrain further includes a second electric motor that has an interruptible connection with the drive shaft. In one form, this interruptible connection includes a clutch. The electric powertrain further includes a first gear train in the form of a first planetary gear and a second gear train in the form of a second planetary gear. The clutch in one variation includes a positive clutch in the form of a dog clutch. The dog clutch has a clutch suspension configured to deflect a clutch collar when gearing is misaligned during shifting.
Self-adjusting mechanism for a friction clutch
A self-adjusting mechanism for a clutch having a cover, a pressure plate, a clutch release mechanism, and an adjustment ring. The self-adjusting mechanism includes a shaft mounted on the cover having a flange extending around the shaft. The self-adjusting mechanism includes a first hub member connected to the clutch release mechanism. The self-adjusting mechanism includes a second hub member connected to the adjustment ring so rotating the second hub member through angles in a first direction greater than a predetermined angle moves the adjustment ring to adjust the position of the clutch release mechanism. The adjustment ring remains stationary as the second hub member rotates through angles less than the predetermined angle. The self-adjusting mechanism has a spring biasing the first and second hub members together and a spring housing. An opening in the spring housing is blocked by the flange to prevent contaminates from entering the housing.
Electronically controlled rotational actuator with manual override
A motor driven valve actuator has a manual override that allows operating the valve without causing the motor rotation. The actuator includes a spindle having an axis of rotation, a driving hub rotatable about the axis of rotation, and a connecting plate attached to the spindle to be axially movable and rotatably fixed thereto, the connecting plate rotatably fixed to the driving hub when in a first axial position, thereby rotatably fixing the spindle to the driving hub for conjoined rotation with the driving hub, the connecting plate rotatable relative to the driving hub when in a second axial position.
Shifting device for a motor vehicle transmission
A shifting device for a motor vehicle transmission includes several transmission shafts which each are rotatable about a transmission axis, a synchronizer ring which is firmly connected with a transmission shaft, a first disk carrier, a plurality of first disks which are non-rotatably and axially shiftably connected with the first disk carrier, a second disk carrier which is axially shiftable relative to the first disk carrier and in circumferential direction can be coupled with the synchronizer ring both frictionally and positively, a plurality of second disks which are non-rotatably and axially shiftably connected with the second disk carrier and form a multidisk clutch with the first disks, and an actuating body for axially pressurizing the second disk carrier, wherein the actuating body and the second disk carrier are rotatable relative to each other in circumferential direction and substantially are firmly connected with each other in axial direction.
Wave actuator
A two dimensional structure such as a disk or belt is shaped or distorted to form a buckling wave. At least one contact touches the wave, two contacts squeezing the wave between them providing a firmer connection. The wave is propagated along the structure by any of a variety of means including magnets or piezo actuators. This movement of the wave moves the contacts relative to the two dimensional structure, providing a high leverage ratio.

Transmission gear synchronizer blocker ring formed of a thermoplastic material
A transmission gear synchronizer may include a sliding sleeve, a hub configured to be received within the sliding sleeve, and a blocker ring disposed adjacent the hub. The blocker ring may have a plurality of molded clutch teeth and a plurality of molded grooves extending axially along an inner surface of the blocker ring.
