The flywheel device includes a sealed housing section; a rotor located in the sealed housing section where the rotor is held in a vertical position by a magnetic system; a controller coupled to the magnetic system; and a braking annular ring mounted to the sealed housing section below the rotor, where the rotor contacts the braking annular ring when the rotor is lowered or otherwise dropped from the vertical position. The controller perform operations to provide control signals to provide first power to the magnetic system to hold the rotor in the vertical position and provide second control signals to provide second power to the magnetic system to lower the rotor.

NUTATIONAL BRAKING SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A brake system is disclosed, including a rotor rigidly connected to a shaft configured to rotate about a central axis. The rotor has a first side opposite from a second side, and the brake system includes a first stator structure on the first side of the rotor and a second stator structure on the second side of the rotor. The brake system further includes a first wobble plate between the first side of the rotor and the first stator structure and a second wobble plate between the second side of the rotor and the second stator structure. Each of the first and second wobble plates is configured to nutate when the first and second stator structures decrease rotation rate compared to the rotation rate of the rotor.

A disc brake disc with a parking brake cylindrical surface for cooperating with shoes of a parking brake comprises a braking band comprising opposite braking surfaces and a geometric connection portion of band connecting the braking band to a bell; the bell comprising a connection plate with a wheel hub and an annular geometric connection portion of bell for geometric connection of the bell to the geometric connection portion of band; the braking band and the bell being pieces separate from each other and geometrically coupled to each other by geometric connection portions of band and bell so as to transfer a braking action by a brake caliper on the opposite braking surfaces from the braking band to the bell and to the wheel hub; the bell comprising a geometric bell connection surface opposite to said braking band. The disc brake disc further comprises a parking ring comprising radially and internally an inner portion of ring, and radially and externally a geometric ring connection portion.

Bell for brake disc with integrated auxiliary brake

A bell for brake disc with integrated drum-in-hat auxiliary brake. The bell (2) includes an annular flange (5) configured to be coupled to a braking band (4) of a brake disc (1), and a drum (6) coupled coaxially to the annular flange (5), wherein the drum (6) accommodates or is configured to accommodate an auxiliary brake (7). The annular flange (5) and the drum (6) are separate elements joined together. The annular flange (6) has at least one recess (13). The drum (6) comprises a cylindrical body (14) and an auxiliary annular flange (15) positioned on a peripheral edge of the cylindrical body (14). The recess (13) has an annular shape coaxial with a common symmetry axis (X-X) and houses the auxiliary annular flange (15).

DEVICE FOR ADJUSTING THE CLEARANCE OF A DRUM BRAKE

A device for adjusting the clearance of a drum brake capable of avoiding the canceling of the minimum operating clearance also in case of repeated brakes without the wear of the shoes, and arranged between two shoes which cooperate with a braking surface of a drum.

Parking brake torque locking mechanism

A brake system including a motor; a rotary to linear stage mechanism; and a torque locking mechanism. The rotary to linear stage mechanism in communication with the motor. The torque locking mechanism in communication with the motor. The torque locking mechanism comprises an electromagnet and a permanent magnet. During a brake apply the motor is adapted to move the rotary to linear stage mechanism so that at least one brake pad or at least one brake shoe is moved against a surface to create a clamp force. The electromagnet and the permanent magnet are adapted to cooperate to maintain the created clamp force.
