Sensorized brake pad calibration machines, systems, and methods
Various machines, systems, and methods for generating calibration data for a sensorized brake pad are disclosed. In some embodiments, a system includes a fixture, a brake pad retainer, a pressure plate, an actuator and a controller. The actuator applies a pressure to the sensorized brake pad and signals from the pressure sensors are received. Calibration data is generated based on the signals received from the pressures sensors when the pressure is applied to the sensorized brake pad.
Method for using brake pad information in braking applications
A method for modifying a brake application of a combination vehicle comprises receiving a temperature signal of a first brake pad of a first brake assembly and receiving a temperature signal representative of a temperature of a second brake pad of a second brake assembly. The temperatures are compared to a first predetermined temperature. The method will determine if service brakes are being applied by a driver and compare a wheel speed of one axle of the tractor with the wheel speed of a second axle of the tractor of the combination vehicle. The method will determine a brake drag exists in response to both the first and the second brake pad temperature being greater than the first predetermined temperature, the first axle wheel speed being less than the second axle wheel speed and the service brakes not being applied by the driver.
Disk brake and production method for a disk brake
A method for manufacturing a disc brake, the disc brake having a brake caliper and a brake actuation mechanism being supported in it, in which the brake actuation mechanism includes an amplification mechanism for introducing a clamping force, an adjustment device for compensation of lining wear with a torque clutch, a thrust element for transmitting the clamping force onto a brake disc and a reset device, which components are arranged around a rod, in which the torque clutch is formed as a roller-ramp-mechanism. A spring force can act onto the torque clutch by means of the reset device thereby forming a torque limit.
BRAKE TEMPERATURE PREDICTION AND COOLING TIME FUNCTIONALITY
A brake cooling period prediction system for predicting a brake cooling period following a braking event, and including a sensor apparatus in communication with a prediction apparatus. The sensor apparatus has a torque sensor for measuring the torque reacted by a brake during a braking event; a wear sensor for measuring a wear state of the brake; and an environmental sensor for measuring at least one ambient condition of the environment of the brake. The prediction apparatus includes a memory storing information relating to the thermal behavior of the brake; and a controller configured to receive a torque measurement, a wear measurement and an ambient condition measurement from the sensor apparatus; and predict a cooling period based on the received torque, wear and ambient condition measurements, and the information relating to the thermal behavior of the brake.
BRAKE TELEMETRY SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Brake system telemetry systems and methods utilize wireless communication technology to communicate brake system data to one or more vehicle electronic control modules. A wireless transceiver is provided and is operably disposed with the brake system components. The wireless transceiver is coupled to receive data from various components of the brake system at the respective and to communicate the data to one or more electronic control units within the vehicle.
Disk brake
An urging spring (15) urges a friction pad toward the exit side of the rotational direction of a disk when a vehicle equipped with the disk brake runs forward. The urging spring is disposed between a lug portion (11A) of the friction pad and a torque receiving surface (5) of a carrier (2). The distal end of the urging spring is configured to abut against the disk to perform wear detection. The urging spring includes a mounting portion (15A), a first extending portion (15B), a boundary region (15E), a bent portion (15C), and a second extending portion (15D). The boundary region is reduced in width to lower stiffness. The bent portion is increased in width and provided with reinforcing portions, thereby enhancing the stiffness. Thus, the natural frequencies of the second extending portion in the rotational direction K and the vertical direction J come close to each other.

Algorithm for measuring wear pin length using an input image
In one example, the disclosure is directed to a method of determining a length of a wear pin in a brake assembly. The method includes obtaining an input image of a portion of the brake assembly, such as with a camera. The input image includes the wear pin and a reference object, and the reference object has a known dimension. A processor may determine, based on the input image, an image dimension of the reference object. The processor may determine, based on the input image, an image dimension of the wear pin. The processor may further determine, based on the image dimension of the reference object, the image dimension of the wear pin, and the known dimension of the reference object, an estimated measurement of the dimension of the wear pin.
