Chain braces and processes for using same
A chain brace for restricting relative movement between first, second, and third serially connected links of a chain. The chain brace can include a wedge block defining a bore at least partially therethrough, first and second outer blocks, a capture frame that can include a reaction plate that can define a bore therethrough, and a tension member. The capture frame can be configured to position the outer blocks and the wedge block within the second link of the chain. The tension member can be positioned through the bore defined by the reaction plate and into the bore defined by the wedge block to apply a force on the wedge block such that the wedge block displaces the first and second outer blocks into contact with the ends of the first and third links of chain, respectively, to restrict relative movement between the first, second, and third links of the chain.

Chain lock and chain for a chain lock
A chain lock comprises a lock body and a chain lockable to the lock body. This chain comprises a serial arrangement of consecutive links coupled to one another via a respective articulated joint and pivotable relative to one another about a joint axis, which is parallel to a normal direction, of the respective articulated joint. The arrangement is foldable into a compact storage configuration in which, at each of the articulated joints, the links coupled to one another via the respective articulated joint are pivoted relative to one another about the joint axis of the respective articulated joint such that they enclose the smallest possible angle of their relative pivotability. A pulling device extends along said arrangement, by way of which a first end of the arrangement and a second end of the arrangement opposite thereto are pullable toward one another to bring the arrangement into the compact storage configuration.

Band employing bistable compliant scissor linkages
A plurality of bistable compliant links are pivotally attached to one another, each of the links having a compliant section and first and second rigid sections extending from the compliant section. The links are pivotally attached to one another via the first and second rigid sections, such that when the links are pivoted with respect to each other past a threshold position toward a closed position, the links are biased toward the closed position by forces created by the compliant sections, and when the links are pivoted with respect to each other past the threshold position toward an open position, the links are biased toward the open position by forces created by the compliant sections. The forces created by the compliant sections biasing the links toward the closed position and biasing the links toward the open position are caused by elastic deformation of the compliant sections.
RESTRAINER OF RELATIVE MOTION AMONG CHAIN LINKS
The present invention comprises a restrainer of relative motion among chain links which generally consisting of fastening arrangement installed on multiple links. In order for the desired restraint to occur, the chain must be straight in order for the two elements to be aligned with each other. Then, the first link in the chain is rotated around its vertical axis so the protuberant part enters in the groove which causes the movement to be restrained.

Band Employing Bistable Compliant Scissor Linkages And Hands-Free Actuation Mechanism
A band includes a pair of members moveable between an open position adapted to receive an article in a channel and a closed position adapted to retain the article within the channel. Each of the members includes a plurality of pivotally attached bistable compliant links, such that when the links are pivoted past a threshold position toward the closed position, the links are biased toward the closed position and such that when the links are pivoted past the threshold position toward the open position, the links are biased toward the open position. An actuator linkage is pivotally connected to at least one of the links, the actuator linkage including an engagement end protruding into the channel when the members are in the open position, such that movement of the article into the channel causes the article to contact and exert actuation forces on the engagement end.
