Safety system
An improved safety system in accordance with the disclosed and claimed concept connects directly with the rail and advantageously provides both a fall resistance apparatus as well as a fall protection apparatus. The fall resistance apparatus provides a support that is movably situated on the rail and that can be manually grasped by the worker during the maintenance operation and which provides physical support in all directions to the worker. The fall resistance apparatus thus resists the likelihood that a fall will occur. In the unlikely event of a fall, the fall protection apparatus connects the worker directly to the rail and supports the worker from the rail at a location spaced above the floor, thus protecting the worker from injury in the event of a fall.
Fall Protection Compliance System and Method
A connector for a fall protection compliance system includes a frame having an opening and a connection area configured for receiving a connection structure therein and a connection sensor assembly associated with the frame. The connection sensor assembly includes at least one permanent magnet configured for generating a magnetic field within at least a portion of the connection area, at least one magnetometer configured for detecting a presence or an absence of a disturbance in the magnetic field, and a control device having at least one processor programmed or configured to receive connection data from the at least one magnetometer, determine a connection status of the connector based on detecting the presence or the absence of the disturbance in the magnetic field, and perform at least one action based on the connection status. A method for detecting connection of a connector to a connection structure is also disclosed.
Device for braking the fall of a load
A device (1) is described for braking the fall of a load comprising a sling (2) and a braking element (3, 30), said sling (2) comprising a first end (21) constrainable to an anchoring point; a second end (22) constrainable to said load; a folded section (23) comprising a first portion (23a) of said sling (2) reversibly joined to a second portion (23b) of said sling (2), said folded section (23) providing a resistance to the separation of said first and second portions (23a, 23b). The sling further comprises a first free section (24) comprised between said first portion (23a) of said folded section (23) and said first end (21); and a second free section (25) comprised between said second portion (23b) of said folded section (23) and said second end (22). The braking element (3, 30) comprises a plurality of passages for said sling (2), said first free section (24) crossing at least one first passage (3a), said second free section (25) crossing at least one second passage (3b), so that said first portion (23a), as a consequence of the application of a traction force (FT, FT) higher than a threshold value to at least one of said two ends (21, 22), separates from said second portion (23b) and crosses said first passage (3a), and said second portion 23b crosses said second passage (3b).
SAFETY SYSTEM AND LIFTING EQUIPMENT COMPRISING SUCH A SAFETY SYSTEM
Disclosed is a safety system for at least one person positioned on a platform of a lifting equipment, including a lanyard attaching the person to the platform. The length of the lanyard is variable, and the safety system includes: a sensor for measuring the distance between one end of the lanyard attached to the person and one end of the lanyard attached to the platform, and a unit for processing the measurement from the sensor, suitable for transmitting information and/or warning signals.
Webbing for fall protection device
A webbing for use in a fall protection device, such as a self-retracting lifeline having leading edge capabilities, is provided having a double cloth construction with the exterior of the webbing constructed of woven, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene yarns and having stuffer yarns positioned in the interior of the fabric, wherein the stuffer yarns are made of high-tenacity fibers, such as aramid fibers.
FALL PROTECTION RADIO FREQUENCY EMERGENCY BEACON
Embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for quickly detecting a fall and alerting appropriate parties of the fall. A fall protection device may comprise a fall detection module operable to sense when a fall occurs and generate wireless beacon, where the beacon may be received (or picked up) by any number of wireless devices, including wireless gateways, monitoring stations, and mobile devices.
Fall restriction device
A fall restriction device is provided that includes a rope and a connector that has a rope connector base. A latch is retained by the rope connector base. The connector has a rope connector with an aperture and the rope is disposed through the aperture. The rope connector has an engaged position in which the rope connector is retained to the rope connector base. The rope connector is moved from the engaged position by being moved along the rope connector base and by being rotated relative to the rope connector base.
DISTANCE-LEARNING SAFETY RETRACTION LANYARD
Apparatus and associated methods relate to a distance-learning safety retraction device (DLSRD) mechanically coupled to a fixed anchor point on a boundary-mapped surface, the DLSRD including two receivers in operable communication with a transmitter borne on a user. In an illustrative example, the DLSRD may determine an angle between a lanyard coupled to the user and a vertical plane between the two receivers. The DLSRD may include, for example, an extraction detector detecting an extracted length of the lanyard. The DLSRD may determine user proximity to a safe operating area boundary based upon a difference of a current extracted length of the lanyard to a learned extracted length associated with a current angle of the lanyard, for example. Various DLSRDs may be configured in a run-mode to apply a braking effect to the lanyard and/or to activate a warning device based upon the user's proximity to the boundary.
Anti-connection device for fall protection apparatus
Fall protection apparatus includes a self-retracting lifeline, a tether line and a link member enabling connection of the self-retracting lifeline to the tether line. An anti-connection device is fitted to the link member permitting connection to the self-retracting lifeline but inhibiting connection to other devices when connected to the self-retracting lifeline.
Belay Loop
A load bearing belay loop includes a load bearing inner structural ring that is formed by winding a single filament in many windings to form a coil, and an outer sheath made from a sheet material that is tubular in configuration and that is rolled axially to cover the ring. The outer sheath is not load bearing. The inner ring may be formed by winding a single filament in many windings to form a coil.
