Fall protection radio frequency emergency beacon

Embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for quickly detecting a fall and alerting appropriate parties of the fall. A fall protection device may comprise a fall detection module operable to sense when a fall occurs and generate wireless beacon, where the beacon may be received (or picked up) by any number of wireless devices, including wireless gateways, monitoring stations, and mobile devices.

SAFETY APPARATUS COMPRISING MECHANICAL COMMAND INTERFACE

A fall-protection apparatus that includes a computing device configured to detect a mechanical command signal, and methods of using such an apparatus.

The starting support post is configured for attachment to a first side of the steel building and has a bottom starting end configured to attach to the first side of the steel building and a top starting end extending above the roof. The final support post is configured for attachment to a second side of the steel building and has a bottom final end configured to attach to the second side of the steel building and a top final end extending above the roof on the second side. The support cable is configured to be connected at an elevated position above the roof of the steel building between the top starting end and the top final end.

FALL ARREST LADDER SYSTEM
20200080377 · 2020-03-12 ·

A fall arrest ladder system comprising a housing assembly including a retractable lanyard, braking system, safety line, and webbing belt is disclosed. The fall arrest system allows for the safe deceleration of the user from an elevated position on a ladder to prevent the user from making harmful contact with the ground. The safety line and retractable lanyard are each attached to a ladder and then attached to the webbing belt worn by the user, permitting the user to freely move along the length of the ladder while remaining tethered securely in the event of a slip or fall from the ladder. The safety line prevents the user from falling away from the ladder while the retractable lanyard and incorporated braking system decelerate the user during a downward fall.

BELAYING LANYARD EQUIPPED WITH IMPROVED SWIVEL CONNECTION
20200061417 · 2020-02-27 · ·

Lanyard having at least one belaying strap connected with a swivel connection which comprises two assembly parts able to rotate with respect to one another with a relative rotational movement. The two assembly parts of tubular shape are engaged coaxially in one another, the first outer part having a larger diameter than that of the second inner part. At least one of the parts is provided with a slot or hole for fitting securing means designed to secure the two parts in rotation in the engaged state.

Applications: safety and securing lanyards for via ferrata, caving, mountaineering.

FALL PROTECTION MONITOR
20200054903 · 2020-02-20 · ·

Personnel working at elevated positions use safety lines to prevent falls. Equipment being used in proximity to the personnel may interfere with the safety lines presenting a potential hazard. A fall protection monitor provides an automated and wireless sensor system for avoiding interactions between equipment and safety lines. The fall-protection monitor includes a first sensor for monitoring whether a safety line is in operation. A second sensor monitors a location of a moveable device being used in the vicinity of the safety line. A controller determines the location of the moveable device and whether the safety line is in operation. The controller prevents movement of the moveable device within a predetermined distance from an operational safety line.

Methods and Apparatus for Generating Energy Using Fall Protection Devices

A fall protection device comprises an energy harvester to generate electrical power in response to movement of an elongate member and a circuit powered by the generated electrical power; an impact indicator connected to an elongate member, a controller connected to the elongate member and/or the impact indicator to generate a message in response to impact, and a transmitter connected to the controller to transmit the message; and/or a sensor connected to an elongate member and a controller connected to the sensor to generate a message in response to movement of the elongate member. The fall protection device could include a generator to generate electrical power, an energy storage capacitor to store the generated electrical power, a controller powered by the energy storage capacitor to generate a message in response to action, and a wireless transmitter powered by the energy storage capacitor to transmit the message.

FALL RESTRAINT SYSTEM FOR ROOF WORK
20200047008 · 2020-02-13 ·

A fall restraint for a worker on a roof comprising a yoke line, wherein a first end of the yoke line is releasably connected to a first building structure and a second end of the yoke line is releasably connected to a second building structure. The fall restraint also comprises a support line, wherein a first end of the support line is slidably connected to the yoke line, and a second end of the support line is connected to a worker harness, wherein the support line is adapted to travel over a ridge line of the roof and at least partially support the weight of the worker.

FALL-PROTECTION APPARATUS WITH PROTECTIVE SHROUD AND WITH SLEEVE ASSEMBLY

A fall-protection apparatus with a movable protective shroud and with a sleeve assembly, the sleeve assembly including an informational sheet that is compactable and extendable.

Energy Absorber Coil for Safety Harness

An energy absorber for a safety harness has a first end, a second end, and an energy absorbing portion between the first end and the second end. The energy absorbing portion has a first load-bearing web integrally bound to a second load-bearing web. The energy absorbing portion is coiled in a spiral shape in an undeployed configuration. The energy absorbing portion is deployable from the undeployed configuration to a deployed configuration when the first end is pulled away from the second end due to a force exceeding a minimum predetermined force threshold such that at least a portion of the first load-bearing web tears away from at least a portion of the second load-bearing web. The first load-bearing web and the second load-bearing web are integrally bound in the energy absorbing portion by a plurality of binder threads.
