Seal for an aircraft and aircraft incorporating at least one such seal
The invention relates to a seal for an aircraft incorporating a fire-resistant structure, and an aircraft incorporating at least one such a seal between structural elements of the aircraft connected to each other at a zone of the latter which may be a fire zone according to the standard ISO 2685:1998 or AC 20-135.
According to the invention, this seal (10) comprises: a seal body (11) at least partially elastomeric, the seal body defining at least one generally tubular or annular cavity (10A), and a fire-resistant structure (12) distinct from the seal body and disposed inside the cavity, the fire-resistant structure comprising an intumescent mass able to fill the cavity (10A) in an expanded state,
the intumescent mass being made of a rubber composition having an intumescence trigger temperature equal to or higher than 270° C., measured by a plane-plane rotary rheometer with a temperature scan from 23 to 380° C. according to a ramp of 10° C./min.
Intumescent Cover or Joiner
A cover or joiner is configured to cover the respective channels and/or joins between adjacent thermal insulation panels of a structural fire protection system, such as for marine vessel deckheads and bulkheads. The cover or joiner can include an elongate member, such as a strip, that includes intumescent insulation, and optionally can include one or more fastener arrangements, such as use of holes for attaching the cover or joiner to the underlying thermal insulation panels and support framework. The cover or joiner can be insulated with 6 mm thick intumescent insulation material and attached (e.g., screwed) to the framework. A front face of the cover or joiner (front facing away from the panels) can be of metal, such as stainless steel or galvanised steel.
Fire protection sleeve segment and fire protection sleeve
A fire protection sleeve segment can be arranged for a fire protection sleeve for sealing a combustible body penetrating an opening in a wall or ceiling in the event of fire. The fire protection sleeve segment contains a first housing element and a second housing element, wherein the housing elements have a boundary wall containing a contact surface and an outer surface opposite the contact surface. The two housing elements are rigidly interconnected and arranged so as to be stepped with respect to one another. An intumescent material is applied to the contact surfaces. To form a fire protection sleeve, a plurality of fire protection sleeve segments are arranged relative to one another and interconnected such that the intumescent material applied on the contact surface of the first housing element is covered, in whole or in part, by the second housing element of the respectively adjacent fire protection sleeve segment.
SEALING ASSEMBLY AND A SEALING SEGMENT
A seal assembly (10) for sealing an opening (12) in a wall (14) or ceiling of a building, especially for sealing a line penetration, wherein the seal assembly (10) is able to cover the opening (12) and has a passage (32) for a line (18), has at least two disk-like seal segments (16), which together define the passage (32) at inside rim portions and in circumferential direction overlap at adjacent rims (22). A seal segment (18) for such an assembly has an elastic sealing compound (26) that is applied on a carrier film (28).
Fire-protection collar
The present invention relates to a fire-protection-collar element (10) for forming a fire-protection collar (35) for closing through-passages in walls (38), ceilings and/or floors in the event of a fire. The present invention also relates to a method for forming a fire-protection collar (35) for closing through-passages in walls (38), ceilings and/or floors in the event of a fire.
Fire protection element
A fire protection element for sealing a combustible body which penetrates an opening in a wall or ceiling, in the event of a fire, contains a fire protection insert and a heat-activatable drive for the fire protection insert, wherein the fire protection insert is in an initial position within the wall or ceiling and, in the event of a fire, is moved into a use position in which the fire protection insert is at least partially outside the wall or ceiling.
FIRE AND SMOKE CONTAINMENT SERVICES TRANSIT UNIT AND AN ASSOCIATED METHOD
The fire and smoke containment services transit unit includes a casing constructed from a material having a thermal conductivity of less than 5 watts per meter per Kelvin. The casing defines a first opening at a first end and a second opening at the second end. Intermediate the first and second end is the internal volume that is encased by the casing. The internal volume and each of the openings are sized to allow services such as cables, pipes, etc. to be threaded through the services transit unit. An intumescent material is housed centrally within the internal volume. Prior to exposure to the heat of a fire, the intumescent material maintains a slim profile. However, when the transit unit is exposed to the heat associated with a building fire, it swells and thereby seals the internal volume against the passage of fire, smoke or heated gases through the transit unit.
FIRE BLOCKING REVEAL
A fire-rated reveal piece and wall assemblies or other assemblies that incorporate the fire-rated reveal piece, in which the reveal piece can include an intumescent or other fire-resistant material strip. The reveal can be attached adjacent to a corner, flange or leg of a framing member, such as metal tracks, headers, header tracks, sill plates, bottom tracks, metal studs, wood studs or wall partitions, and placed between the framing member and a wall board member at a perimeter of a wall assembly to create a fire block arrangement. A fire spray material can be applied over a portion of the reveal piece.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ASSISTING IN REDUCING THE SPREAD OF FIRE, SMOKE OR HEAT IN A BUILDING
System for assisting in reducing the spread of fire between adjacent rooms in a building proximate to the ceiling thereof includes an elongated header track, at least one elongated filler constructed at least partially of compressible or elastic material and at least one fire-blocker constructed at least partially of fire retarding material.
FIRE-STOPPING PRODUCT
The invention provides a fire-stopping product, an insulated building façade comprising a fire-stopping product, and a method of making a fire-stopping product. The fire-stopping product comprises a resilient, porous material at least partially impregnated with an intumescent agent and held in compression by a releasable restraint. When exposed to hot gases from a fire, the restraint yields to release the resilient, porous material in an initial expansion, thereby exposing the intumescent agent to the hot gases and allowing rapid intumescence to occur. When implemented in a ventilated building façade, the fire-stopping product is able to close an air gap in a short amount of time.
